Pretty nice entry. I made it to the level with the two spinning rings of platforms. The idea of loosing controls has been done quite a bit for this jam, but you implemented it quite well. Though, you do need to time your movement quite well and it really becomes trial and error to figure out how to complete a level.

Developer

Thanks for playing!! I'm planning on letting the player view the entire level rather than have to trial and error their way to the end. Some of the timings are a bit too harsh so I'm definitely going to work on that too :)

Thanks again for playing and giving me feedback :D

Loved this! 馃槏 Big fan of puzzly games, and this is a great one. I see you used art assets, but still, good use of them to create a nice forest environment (I think you got your parallax layers backwards tho!) and the music suits the pixel art well. Level design is really good, so I would love to play a post-jam version with more levels and maybe new mechanics and buttons! R for reset was great to have. Really good work on this!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!! Glad you enjoyed it :D

The parallax is a bit wonky haha, thanks for letting me know :)

Really cool idea! I like how you build upon the idea of losing the keys by adding the power ups to regain keys. The music and sound effects are very nice for the pixel jungle setting!

Thanks for playing!! Glad you enjoyed it :D

Spotted this one on Mark鈥檚 stream. A very solid prototype; one of my favourite ones that I鈥檝e seen this jam. A little polish and this would be ready for release

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!!! I was surprised when i saw it on stream :D

I definitely agree with him that its a bit harsh, i tried to fix it with jump buffers and coyote time, but i think the placement of the character needs to be too perfect as of right now. I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Nice game! I liked the idea a lot, its a mix of puzzle and platformer, really good! I just had a little problems  in moments that I lost because I was fearing pass over the chest and then I ended up in its side, maybe putting some wall in its side to let me collide on it, or making the chest some kind of door that I can pass over it to complete de level. Overall really great game with a lot of potential! Congratulations!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed :D

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, we've definitely had people miss chests before, so we're probably going to have the entire platform count as a win. Thanks again for playing and rating :)

It'd be really cool if you recovered your jump in midair so you could pull off a double jump, instead of having to wait till you land

Developer

we were considering adding a special orb for double jumps but we didn't have time. thanks for playing and suggesting :D

What a gorgeus idea!
I played to the end of it and it was worth it. The idea of controls as something you can only use once combined with a great execution in harmony with the music, graphics and gameplay. Particularly the controls and the level design was quiet in depth. To see that someone had the same idea as me is funny.

One of the best games on this jam!!!

Thank you for playing!! Glad you enjoyed it :D. Your game was amazing too :DD I loved it!

Nice! Love your take on theme! Even if I am insanely bad at the game XD

Great game! This is the first game I've played so far to earn a perfect score.

Many of the games in this Jam that I've seen played, or played myself, put so much focus on the "out of control" aspect, that there isn't really much game to play - you just play to see the loss of control and that's it. This game, on the other hand, doesn't lose focus on being a playable game. Yes, the player loses control, but that loss equates to a solid puzzler, rather than some gimmicky effect. It could easily go to market, requiring only the addition of more levels.

Even more to the point, because the puzzles are clear, and due to the perfect platforming controls, the puzzles don't make the player feel like, "well crap, how do I proceed?" You know how what you have to do, you just have to figure out the timing and how to combine the controls.

Side note: as a testament to how on-point the controls are for the demands of this game, I stopped just before the treasure box way too many times - even in the very last "puzzle" - because I'm so used to platforming characters with inertia, and I was subconsciously worried about overshooting the box.

Edit: I forgot to mention how much I loved the cute graphics and character model!

Thank you so much!!! I'm so honoured by the perfect score!!! I appreciate your kind words towards our game, and I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. We are definitely considering bringing this to market, with a lot of tweaking and new content of course, but I'm very happy to see you enjoyed the game!

Thanks for playing and making my day :DD

Aww, of course! I meant every word, I loved it a lot. (And I forgot to mention that I love the name too, very clever!) I'm gonna keep an eye out for a full release! Has Mark streamed this yet?

Developer(+1)

i dont think he has, but i didn't watch the entire stream last night so he could've done :)

Really cool platformer puzzler, I had a great time playing it. I love your take on the theme

Good work! I loved the platforming gameplay and the nice 2D art style. Well done! :D

Developer

Thanks :DD

Art and music are great. I agree with all the others. Some kind of small reward pickups like bonus points in the levels if you manage to time your movements very well would be fun.

Developer

Thanks for playing and suggesting! Glad you enjoyed :D

We'll definitely be implementing that in a future update!

fits the theme well , love the art it's so good

solid game overall , so good!

Really great take on the theme! Awesome job, well done! If i were to suggest anything is that there were a slight delay on losing the key after releasing - I had too many levels with me ending with in front of the chest xD :P

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D
I was thinking of making it so that landing on the chest platform causes you to win, rather than the chest itself, definitely going to add that in :DD

Wow, this is cool!  I have to think about my movement so much more. It's unbelievably satisfying to get a level on the first go. The level design is great!

The game has this sense of urgency that feels amazing. Of the games I've played so far, this is probably in my top 10. Thanks for playing my game and suggesting your own <3

Oh! Also, love the parallax background! And the music slaps, really catchy loop.

Developer

Thank you for playing!! I'm glad you enjoyed it :DD

Hm, some observations from my gameplay: when the platforms moves and you're trying to fall on top of it, it doesn't count the detection and it seems as if my character just falls through the platform. Also, sometimes the keys don't recharge when I restart the level, not sure what causes this problem. Apart from that, it's a really tricky and challenging yet satisfying puzzle game, I liked it a lot!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!! The platforms had one way collision, so you would fall through them if you didn't land on top of them. I realised later on that moving platforms don't really like one way collision lol.

Releasing a key causes you to loose it, no matter when you initially pressed it. I was going to make the code for this more complex, but time constraints limited that.

I'm glad you still enjoyed it!!!

Submitted(+1)

Looks like a platformer but is actually a puzzle game! All the core concepts are well done :)

Submitted(+1)

Nice idea and play on the theme :)  Would have liked if the levels were a bit more flexible though, it felt like there was only one correct way to beat the level.

Developer

due to time constraints we had less time than we had hoped, but definitely making levels less linear is a plan for the future if we ever try for a full release! :D

Submitted(+1)

Pretty cool game. I think there were a few platformer physics/control things you could have used in this game that would have added a lot of strategy and depth:

* Holding both directions should stop you from moving instead of having priority to the left

* Holding the jump button should let you keep jumping until you release it

Developer

Thanks for playing! That first one was meant to be the case but I didn't think it was worth bothering with since you arent going to be doing that much in the first place.  Releasing an arrow key causes you to stop moving in that direction, as we dont have any momentum physics. I'll definitely consider it though!

The second one is a matter of balance vs consistency. We ultimately decided that jumps were more useful in our game, so we had to nerf it basically. You would notice people never releasing the jump key and thats more of a chore and less of a fun challenge. We'll still test it out and see how it goes though.

I appreciate you for playing our game and giving us suggestions :DD

Submitted(+1)

Yeah I guess, holding both directions could be very useful though. I tried doing it on some of the moving platforms. Then I would be able to release the direction I didn't want to go and keep moving.
