Wow, very intense and I played way longer than I actually should have :-) It really triggers the “one more time” reflex. I also suggest some creative way to establish shortcuts, as checkpoints would not fit the story, but something like this would be great. I assume it would make the game even more addicting.

Love the art style and the idea, very cool! I must say though, I got frustrated dying so much and needing to go a long way to get back to where I was that I didn't manage to finish the game. Perhaps there could be shortcuts or something that aren't immediately obvious, so later runs can be faster? the sprint helps somewhat with this, but I don't think its sufficient. Also, there could be a bit more variety in the type of obstacles if this were made into a full game.
That name generation stuff was icing on the cake! Very well made game and I liked the idea of people trying one after the other to get the crystal skull. Also good job by including sprint feature as well, I may be a bit old school style in such game but if this game had a save or checkpoint at someplace it'd be better for players like me, but I understand the devs must have decided this set of rules for the jam purpose. Real fun to play, good luck for the jam! :)
The game is great! The art is amazing and the atmospere is just perfect. I really liked it. And the way you introduce new characters after the prevous one died is very clever. I think, that maybe you should make the enviroment a bit darker, because most of the hazard are visible from too far away, but that maybe subjective)
Overall, great game, certainly one of the best I played during this jam.
P.S. Nice concept of having player's corpses to light the way. We used the same concept for our game, too. It is interesting that two games sharing the same concept can end up feeling completely different.
Oh my god. I finally finished it.
It took a lot of tries, but I did it.
At first I was kind of bored. But the more I played the more I wanted to finish it.
It's a nice detail that zones that before were completely dark, now had the dead bodies of your previous tries, with their lantern, as a "bookmark" of the past traps.
Nice use of the topic.
Good job!
Amazing work, everything's great. Only minor thing is the mouse sensibility a bit high, I kept doing U turn without realizing it, but other than that it's a tremendous game.
You guys clearly had a lof of fun coming up with names and epitaphs, I'd be angry every time I died if they weren't so damn funny.
I really love this! It is frustrating to walk around an arrow trap only to fall in a hole full of spikes, but the fact the torchs remain to light the way really makes this game! Sometimes you gotta die in the dark so next time is easier to find the way. I also love walking by a corpse of an explorer I killed with my own stupidity and say "look at this loser".
Also, the aesthetic is super good.
Great game! I loved how light was one of the main mechanics of the game and it really helped make the failures still feel like progress, so good use of the theme there. The different names and death descriptions were also very nice, helped add variety to the gameplay - although having to walk all the way back from the beginning did get a bit repetitive, especially when falling into the same trap twice :( The graphics were great though, really fit the aesthetic of a forgotten temple with the hidden artefact inside and the sound was nice too, especially the gentle fire crackling - very relaxing for a game about dying over and over. This was a really enjoyable game overall, and one of the better uses of the theme, so great work on it!
Everything is great !
but at a certain point, there's too many traps and avoiding them over and over becomes boring.
Interseting take on the theme our past failures light up our way kinda poetic :D Also i must say that great use of sound effects. The art and the models are amazing. My only complaint is there are too many traps :/ Other than that small issue i think you guys made an amazing game bravo :D
Note : I would be happy if you could check out my game as well :d
Nice 3d art. I would have liked some music. The text stories between the deaths were hilarious XD. The title is well chosen. Check out my game as well ;)
Yall just got all 5 stars from me, mostly. The game plays amazing and is ultra-fun despite the zillion traps that are scattered everywhere. It also has a really creative aspect that fits the topic perfectly. Massive respect for the devs. The sounds are great and the graphics were ok. They gave me an old days vibe. Well done! Don't stop the project here, keep it up, I'm sure everyone would love it.
I played it for a bit, and became frustrated, I think it goes well with the topic though. Looks like a polished game with nice atmosphere and tone.
Cool idea and use of the theme! I definitely found myself getting frustrated near the end and gave up at the skybridge with the two swinging axes, maybe could have used some checkpoints -- like a door that you can open from the other side, to keep the theme. Still really well done, loved the sound effects and the cheeky name generation / death messages :)
