Oh no, not another corpse game... How unoriginal.
But wait! This one is actually good!
A lot of people went for the typical "losing is progress? ok. platformer with corpses." idea. What makes your game stand out from the crowd in my opinion is that it feels smooth, it is fast, the visuals and even the theme in general (the toast burns it's so cool) are amazing and it's addictive.
I wish I could have played more, but sadly, I got the same bug as the guy under me, the 4 toast jump was just impossible (or maybe I am just stupid).
Anyway, really cool!
Nice Job! I got stuck on one of the levels in world 0 where you had to jump on top of 4 toasts. I felt like the jump could have been a tiny bit higher so that it was easier to get on top of the 4 toast stack, because I would not jump high enough over and over and then when I finally did I would go right into the red-block and have to restart the level. Also you cant jump while moving into a burnt toast(not sure if this is on purpose) I'm glad you had two more worlds to play thought though because the new mechanics added in those were all really nice. The pacing/level design in general was really good, to me it felt you introduced new mechanics at the perfects times!
Nice game! I really liked how versatile you made just a dead bread corpse haha. Some feedback:
- I liked how you made the game feel via particles and squeeze jump animation. These small details really add up to the experience
- The game obviously sometimes has unfair difficulty spikes. Like, I've got to this room and after about 150 deaths I gave up trying.
- I like that you implemented a canceled jump mechanic here. However, the game lacks buffered jump and coyote time (maybe there's coyote time, I just couldn't understand if it was there)
- The music stops after playing once - and the game is more likely to get boring when there's no music :(
- I like the simplicity of the visuals, however, the tiles could be improved.
A solid submission! You did well!
Hard game, or maybe I'm bad xD Overall, love love love the visuals it's got a newgrounds vibe. Also love the way you implemented the core death mechanic and I'd say more but honestly I think knowing I'll be sharing this around to friends is good enough yo 10/10
the game was fun and the visuals were good. the music was awesome but the controlls were a bit wonky and floaty
but overall pretty good game
Nice sumbmission in the sacrific category of this ja,e :P the fact that the player is litaraly toast is a nice addition :D
Great game, absolutely loved the concept, setting and visuals are mega impressive;
level design felt a bit too hard for me, but that's no big deal
Great work!
The game is well crafted. I found pretty responsive. I had only one issue. The burn level I kept missing a bit and it was very unforgiving detecting the collision. Felt like I had to be very very careful on the precision of my keyboard strokes. That just might be me not being very good a precision platforming. The game overall was very good. Keep up the great work.
Really good game! Your response to the theme was very creative, and really fun! The graphics are great too. I also found the different puzzles to be pretty challenging, creative, and fun to solve. The music was also really good. I think the only issue I found was that, if you're standing on the corner of a platform, you can't jump. Other than that though I really liked this game. Well done!
This is cool! I like how many levels there are, and this is very well polished. My only criticism would be the levels felt somewhat out of order in terms of difficulty (the stack 4 level haha), but I understand that in a game jam there is not a lot of time for play-testing. Overall, great game :)
A solid and well-polished game! I have to admit to being a bit tired of use-your-body games at this point, but the details are really nice. I like that the levels start with you having fallen out of a toaster... :P
There are so many levels in this game, i can't belive you did it all in 72 hours. It's just incredible.
There are many games in this jam that use corpses for progress. But i haven't played a game in this jam so far, that has different types of corpses to solve puzzels.
I also like the different themes of the chapter. It's just sooo good.
Overall i think this game awesome. Amazing work.
Fun game it the controls were really nice and the art was great there was a part that i got stuck on and had ended up exiting the level but other than that it was a lot of fun i like that it had a set amount of lives to do it in rather than how I've seen many of them before where its as many lives as you want which tends to lead to not having as of a challenge.
I am blown away by how much you got packed in here. I wasn't expecting to get portal vibes from a little game about toast. My only complaint was the controls needed a little tightening. I almost gave up on the early 4 stack toast level. But I'm glad I saw this little gem through to the end. Great level design. Great entry.
