The intro is way too long maybe make it skippable in some way.
Cool idea tho!
The art is great, the premise is great, the music is great, but the game is just so slow and boring. The amount of health the enemies have is pretty intense regarding how little the heroes attack, and even when i did know about how I would defeat the final boss, it still took around 10 minutes just because the magic regenerated so slowly and the heroes did little to nothing. I would've really liked to see this concept be expanded on, but in it's current form, the only bad thing about the game is the gameplay itself. A few ways to fix this would be to decrease defense values and increase attack values while also making the heroes more likely to attack, and/or, make the action sequences play out a little faster, make the little animations go quicker and the text advance faster. Otherwise, the final boss did make me laugh, but it just wasn't that fun. Good game.
Hey great Game :D I especially like the viuals :D keep on the great work!
Hi! I've put together a list of my top games from the jam and before I post them on the community section, I'm just checking that you are okay having your game's link on the post?
Unique art style :).
Audio was nice also.
Maybe a bit slow paced overall, but nonetheless I had fun playing the game.
Job well done.
Man, you gotta be good at the game to lose for those two. They keep attacking the dead, why? XD
I loved how the visuals seem to be hand-drawn.
It would be nice if all the drawings were in the same style, the help desk is like pixel art. It is nice to keep it consistent.
Great art style! It seems like the story is going to be great but so sad I can't finish the second round ._.
Visuals where nice and the music fit the game nice. Text was a bit slow at times.
I am not sure about the guard thing being an option, as well as magicalGirl being able to use almost all her HP for damage. The last battle all I did was guard until the heros had enough HP to take the attack that gives me more mana until I had enough for the 99 mana spell. After that it was guarding until one of them was able to take a normal hit while waiting for the swordman to use the attack that scales on the enemy defense.
So, TL;DR: being able to guard allows you to stall out fights for WAY TOO long. Other than that it was quite fun.
it is fine on the hero's as that doesn't give an ability to forever stall a fight.
Oh, I just noticed I didn't go over why I don't think the health drain on magicalGirl is a good thing: Because it sets the HP to 1 you have no other choice than to attack swordman until she heals. This means that until she heals your options are basically reduced to 1 in most cases. Technically you can guard spam until she heals but as I already said that probably shouldn't be a thing.
Another way to make guard less able to stall would be to have it cost more mana for the player so it actually costs mana to cast because right now you get enough back to cast it again the next turn.
Fun game. I really liked the visuals, AI wasn't the most intelligent thing which could make the game a little bit frustrating at times. The music was fine but the long final fight make it a little repetitive. Faster animations maybe?
Overall fun game though I enjoyed it
I played the game last night.
Here are my thoughts!
The game has a really nice concept. Control the enemies and make them lose.
While playing, I NEVER guarded as I felt like that was a waste of time when you could be losing. I'd much rather attack.
Speaking of time, I felt like it took way to long for things to happen. It's pretty frustrating. If there's anything in the game I would change, it would be this.
Besides that, this game is amazing! I love the art style and music. The beginning music feels silly and fits the visuals. The battle music is good too!
I love the idea behind this game ! A reversed RPG!
I'm on the fence with the music, some parts I dislike, but then suddenly I am completely jamming to it :D
The slow pace of the game got mentioned previously, but I do agree that besides the narrative, some animations could be a bit faster (I really like x2 and x4 speed options in RPGs, maybe that's why).
I'm not a huge fan of the visuals, but I think this is more of a personal preference.
I'd love to play a fully fleshed out version of a game with a mechanic like yours, it's fascinating to say the least!
Really promising concept! Also really liked the silly artstyle and music and sfx was also really good!
My biggest problem was unfortunatelly the fights themselves - they drag tremendously and are very discouraging to continue the game. Attacking animations should be much shorter and smoother. Also I would recommend to add a way to restart the fights in case you do something stupid.
Overall, very clever idea that fits the theme, presented very well. Gameplay a bit tedious, but its really only the matter of speeding up the battles.
