Fun little game.

Like the splat idea and that you can see the level shape because of the splats.

Flying was difficult but manageable but landing was very hard :). But did succeed in finishing levels. It made it an extra challenge.

Overall well done and enjoyed playing it.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

I guess the landing was pretty difficult to pull off and I could have increased the force thresholds a little (though this way it's true to the old arcade games :p). I'm glad, that you enjoyed the game and managed to finish it despite this :)

The mechanic is very interesting and the sound effects are amazing. It's really hard to land carefully and I would recommend some music but the visuals are very appealing. Amazing work!

Developer

Actually, I think that music wouldn't fit the atmosphere that well. I prefer it with a little bit of ambience as it's right now :)

Thanks a lot for the feedback and suggestions, I'm glad you liked it!

Well if you feel that's best for your game, who am I to judge? Ambience would probably fit the game best anyway.

Really fun! Almost too hard. How did you do the splatter effect? Decals? They look really awesome. Would be cool to add an option for it as a heatmap. The rocket sound is nice as well.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!

The splatter effect took quite a bit of time to figure out :). Basically, each splatter is a simple particle effect. Every object in the scene has a camera attached to it, which renders these particles into the render texture, which is later assigned to this object.

I'll try to upload the source with more in-depth explanation today/tomorrow, so you can check back then if you're interested :)

Nice! Yeah, let me know if you do.

Couldn't finish it, but I'm gonna keep this one downloaded for when i need to kill some time. Reminds me of lunar lander but harder and with the added darkness mechanic. I love the way you added sounds so the player hears what's happening before he actually sees anything. :)

i had a lot of fun (and frustration XD) playing it, great !

Sometimes with the collisions I wondered why I didn't explode when it felt like I should, or the contrary, but overall, it's well-done

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

This was great! So many little details add to the experience.

I love how you use sounds to suggest unseen elements.

The fact that the level geometry is usually curved, rather than square, really helps players to make an informed guess from the small amount they can see. Really nice touch.

I kind of felt like I was flying an egg, which makes me wonder how this would look with big egg yolks in the splats :D

My only complaint is that I think I have RSI now... Maybe let players use the spacebar for upward thrust as well, so there's an option to spread those inputs out?

This game really deserves more ratings. I think you're still allowed to upload a WebGL build, so long as you don't modify the game.

Developer

Thanks a lot for the feedback! Regarding controls - you're totally right, possibility to spread out input is a must and I don't know why I haven't though about it during the jam.

I've planned to upload a WebGL build, but there were some issues with loading the game in browser. As it was really close to deadline I gave up on trying to fix this. If it's still allowed to upload a WebGL build, then I'll give it a shot once more, though I'm afraid that it could be a problem with custom shaders or sth like this and there's nothing I can do about it :/

Thanks once more for the comment, I'm really glad that you liked my game! :)

Really really well made and polished! It fit the theme perfectly and made for a really nice well rounded game! The sounds were great and the title is perfect! Really nice job!

This is a really cool concept! The controls are super smooth, and I think a timer would have been a great addition to this game (I enjoyed flying the ship around as fast as possible). My one complaint is the hammers, which you must rely entirely on sound to avoid. Overall, great game :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah, a timer could be a nice addition (I was also thinking about adding a death counter, but didn't have enough time to do so).

The hammers in level 5 should be perfectly visible once you were squashed by them, so I guess you're referring to the projectiles in the level 7 and 9 (the last one). Maybe it was conveyed too poorly, but having to rely on the sound was my intention here :)

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I'm really glad you enjoyed my game :)

OOOOH! I wanted to go for one of these splash games but I really love how you made it. Its slightly comedic, with just the splat. but dang great game!
