So polished game! I just no words. Good work dude!

Really good game. The game, itch page and the whole experience seems very polished! I imagine it was a ton of fun making levels once you got the various mechanics built up!

Submitted(+2)

Super fun!! I wish there was something indicating where the mouse position is, but still very good!

+ Nice 8bit sound, pixelart and fun gameplay )

- Aiming control is not so smooth and due to collision & stick mechanic - ball behavior sometimes could be glitchy.

[bug] I've found a way to skip one level ahead - after winning goal send the ball back to any node ;)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Hi! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

About the skip, it's more of a feature considering we do have speed runners already. Thanks for the feedbak, tho! We really appreciate it.

So, it was not a bug, ok ))

Level progression 10/10. It was also fun to play.

The controls need work. the aim is based on mouse position, i cant see the mouse possition. this makes it so the aim indictor speed hard to predict. if my mouse pointer is neer the ball it moves fast if its far away from it its painfuly slow.

you could try to base it off of mouse movemnt direction. or just use the mouse like a silder and have it rotate the aim indicator.

other than that, it was good.

Hi opsaaaa! I'm glad you had fun! (:

About the controls, we did receive a lot of good and not that good feedback about it,  which leads me to think it could be more about user preference. That being said, considering the direction Blimp will take to other platforms, this won't be an issue or point of discussion, hopefully! I appreciate the honest feedback.

Simple mechanic with deep level design, I like how the levels tutorialize the gameplay. I think you may need to set the mouse mode to capture, was a little frustrating trying to make a precise shot only to have my mouse leave the web canvas.

Developer(+1)

Hey mate. First of all, your game was great! Thanks for playing Blimp. (:

I felt divided with having a HTML5 export because the native experience is way better but for Jams it's needed, unfortunately. Anyways, I'm glad you enjoyed. Ty!

Fun as hell! Super solid gameplay and each new mechanic is introduced seamlessly. I definitely see potential for an addictive mobile game if you decide to expand on it in the future.

Developer(+1)

Hi @gamedevlibrarian! I'm happy to read that!

We do expect to expand it to other platforms, specially mobile! I'll make sure the news are spreaded as soon as this happens.

Incredible game with incredible music!

Fun game! Great graphics and smooth animation transitions. Levels were short but felt good, so the pacing felt okay.

I'm not a fan of hiding the mouse though. If you're going to do that, at least make it stay in one place. I've had my mouse exit the screen on more than one occasion and I would misclick something in my other applications.

Very well crafted game and pretty fun too! I stopped at Arkanoid, but I might come back to it. Good job you all!

I also think it would have been better to see the cursor. It would have been easier, but would have allowed for even trickier levels.

But overall, it is a great and addictive juicy game :)

This is a great game. Well done!

I think not being able to see my cursor made aiming pretty frustrating because of subtle differences causing a mismatch and missing my shots. Otherwise I like the concept of launching a ball and trying to connect it fast. I just think the lack of being able to see my mouse cursor ruins the whole thing. Perhaps a compromise would be a line that shows which way you're aiming?

Music is really nice though. I wish there was a way to force unlock all levels as a cheat. I found myself a bit frustrated but I do appreciate that there is a level select option.

One suggestion I might make is to have each connecting node have its theme be played in ascending notes/pitch as a form of extra juice. It is interesting that the bounce, however, does have this. I think that was pretty clever to do and I never would've thought of the bounce having ascending notes (but the goals not having it is pretty strange)

Come to think of it, the fact I didn't do this with the keys you collect in my game is also something I should have done.

I appreciate the level names too. I like level names.

I will play this more later. The lack of being able to aim properly is just a bit too frustrating for me. The game looks, sounds and runs nicely though! I do think the sound effects could use a bit more juice but damn the background music is catchyyy. Also I noticed

This game was extremely satisfying. This has got to be developed into a real game for Android. I will hear nothing less.

Like others said aiming was a bit tough, i tried the web and desktop version and they were both a bit tough, i'd suggest allowing the user to use left and right to fine tune. The levels were just right in difficulty for the most part, though one or two were a bit frustrating.  I also enjoyed the level names, nice touch!

(+1)

Oof that's juicy! Really fun, but I see a few areas for improvement: 1) I really didn't like that it hid the mouse completely, it made playing kind of hard because the aim depended on the mouse's position yet I didn't know where that was. Specially problematic in browser because I'd sometimes click outside the game window. 2) The pacing could be a bit faster in the beggining, I almost quit before the levels started to get interesting. That said, the game was still clearly very well made, and it was juicy without overdoing it. Great job!

Developer

Hey, @Seb!

I'm happy to read you enjoyed the juicy on Blimp!

About the aiming, I'll ditto what I replied to @mpkross below. About the pacing, I felt that even with a simple mechanic (hand-eye coordination), a few warm-up levels would be benefitial for the player. Anyhow, I appreciate the feedback and hopefully we'll get this better on a post-jam version. Thanks again!

Amazing. Made me feel really nostalgic for the games I'd play on nitrome when I was younger.

Developer(+1)

Hey, @JuanSabadoPeron!

Thanks man! I'm glad you liked it and it brought you some nostalgia feeling. That was the intention!

(+1)

'Twas fun! I loved the game feel of it all, how the ball snaps to the rings and effects. Aiming is very tricky, though. I get that seeing the mouse would give away the game. But without the mouse sometimes you're very close or far away and it gets hard to control.

Developer(+1)

Hey, @mpkross!

First of all, thank you for playing Blimp! I'm glad you had fun! (:
About the aiming, I totally understand your point. It was a game design decision for the Jam but maybe in the future we'll enable the aim! One of the improvements we wish to make is to actually have a small close-preview of the path before launching (similar to whatt  games like Arkanoid do). What do you think?

(1 edit) (+1)

Sounds good! Your game reminds me most of Puzzle Bubble arcade games; they had a system where they showed you a preview of the first bounce or two, if I remember correctly. But I totally get your reason for doing the aim the way you did.  If you keep developing it and add more obstacles the preview would eventually be moot anyway in terms of difficulty.

One other thing, is that if you eventually target mobile platforms I think it would be a really good fit! Then you wouldn't even have the issue with the mouse!

Very very nice game! Loved the challenges, the graphics and sound were just right! Very cool game!

Developer

Thanks, mate! I'm glad you enjoyed!
