The graphics are beautiful and the game is fun. I have an idea to make a grid game in the future. I suggest you try to find BGM to put in the game.

The puzzles were clever and satisfying to solve. I liked the clues and the confirmation sound was a nice touch. A level select would be a nice addition. Overall, a fun and well executed game.

Thanks for playing my game! I agree, a level select screen would be really helpful. Glad you enjoyed it overall!

Cool idea, I think it would have been nice to keep the flowers for all the playthrough to have a blooming garden at the end.

Thank you for playing my game and the feedback!

this felt like a really unique game! my immediate comment is that its not very non-american dates friendly haha. but the clues were cute and fun! i def didnt get the 867__09 one until i read the other comments here haha. i think it would benefit from having the columns/rows labeled as well. i know you explained it at the beginning (which was very helpful), but having them persistent might help too! great job on the submission

Thank you so much for playing my game! Yeah I completely forgot that people outside of America would interpret the date clues differently. Its something I will need to keep in mind if I expand on this project. I think having a pause screen that allowed players to return to the directions could help too. Coming up with clues I thought would be fair and most people would understand took a bit of time. The one that got you was  definitely one I wasn't sure about. I really appreciate the  feedback!

I actually really like this one a lot, and as someone who likes puzzle games, it's refreshing as opposed to seeing another action game (not that there's anything wrong with that). I think that you could definitely take this further and flesh it out a little bit.

These are absolutely not meant to be taken poorly, but are merely trying to be constructive because I really do think that you should continue to develop this if you have the interest to:

  • Is there a mechanical reason for pollinating 3 times to complete the flowers? If there was, I didn't see it. You might be able to use that mechanic in another way, though, such as having powerups to show un-planted plants as possibly being incorrect before finishing the plant.
  • The white flowers = incorrect kind of confused me at first. I think if it wasn't for the auditory clues, I may have thought I was doing something good when planting those. Maybe a dead plant or something? Just food for thought.
  • Might be cool to have some sort of map/grid persistence between rounds, and some sort of adversary in later rounds (or even rounds with clues of places where NOT to plant.)

Anyway, I'm serious when I say that you've got something going here. Maybe it's bias from me also making a puzzle game based on a 5x5 grid and I have a soft spot in my heart for that, lol, but keep up the good work!

And I wonder how many younger players you lost with the 867-5309/Jenny mention lmao.

Thank you so much for the kind words and thoughtful feedback! The player pressing spacebar to pollenate 3 times is actually a holdover from an earlier idea I was working on before pivoting into creating a puzzle game. That idea basically involved a pollen meter that would decrease as the player used pollen so the player would have to decide where to best use its pollen.  When I decided to make it a puzzle game instead, I felt like having the player press multiple times to pollenate kept it more interactive and “on the controller”(even though its keyboard controls). I really like your idea of using a dead or worn plant instead of white flowers when the player pollenates the wrong grid tile.  I also think your idea of having levels where the player has to figure out which tile not pollenate is really interesting. It would allow the player to spend more time on one level and have deeper, multilayered puzzles. Thanks again for the really helpful feedback! I was not initially planning to continue work on this project, but after receiving alot of positive feedback I may reconsider that.  Looking forward to trying your game out!

For sure. I mean, don't feel pressured into spending time on something you aren't planning on, especially if you have other interests in mind. But keep it in the backlogs for a rainy day!

So cute and fun. Absolutely loaded with movie references is pretty fun until it to the math game! So cruel haha.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing my game! Yeah, when making my game I had my friend's playtest it and they thought the math questions were funny because they weren't expecting them. Glad you enjoyed it!

Fun game, love the visuals, sound effects and the core puzzle idea is fun to figure out and attempt. Some of the hints may be region-specific like the date format so maybe having multiple level of hints with a score penalty would be nice as would an option to retry the current level to avoid redoing past ones. Btw, is there a reason the bee looks a bit angry?

Developer

Thanks for trying my game! I hadn't even thought that the date clues may be interpreted differently by those outside of America. Thats a great point you bring up. Yeah, a few people have mentioned they would like to not have to replay all the previous levels to get back to where they failed. I think a level select menu would solve that. I never noticed that the bee looked angry lol I got it from the free low poly nature pack on the unity asset store.

Submitted

Yeah a level select would be cool. The bee face stood out when I was moving it from one corner of the map to another diagonally and surprised me because of the happy tone elsewhere, tought maybe there was some backstory there haha.

Nice little game, nice use of hints for the coordinates. Good work!

Cool game concept and take on the theme.
It is quite nice being a little bee, moving around and polonizing flowers.
Also, good job on the clever puzzles.

I just played Buzzy Bee and had a great time! Puzzles were clever and engaging, and the confirmation sound upon solving each one was super satisfying. I did find myself replaying earlier puzzles when trying to complete the game, which felt a bit repetitive. Perhaps a level select feature could help streamline the experience. Good job tho!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing my game! I agree, a level select option would help players who already completed previous levels. Looking forward to trying your game out!

Great puzzles, nice game overall. I had to cheat via google for the answers :-) Well done

The mechanics were perfect. The puzzles were very good. Even had me using ChatGPT to get the answers. I don't follow Harry Potter.

Thanks for a super game.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I am glad you enjoyed it. It was difficult coming up with clues that everyone would be able to solve. I thought some people might not get them all and would search for some of the solutions or ask a friend for help. Thanks again!

The Puzzles were great, and the confirmation sound was very satisfying. I think the game loop is a bit rough because if I want to beat the game, I'm going to have to do all the puzzles again, which I've already figured out once, and remembering each one again is tedious. Go ahead and check out my game submission for the Jam. It's minigolf on planets, let me know what you think.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yes, I threw around some ideas like having the player restart a level if it was failed but I thought that might be too easy. I agree that it can be tedious having to replay completed levels to advance. Maybe the game would be better with a level select screen? Going to give your project a play now!
