Cool game, it’s quite difficult to hit the little planets with such slow missiles, but I’m glad they’re growing over time. Well done! Keep going!

Loved the intense atmosphere and the unique take on a space shooter. The graphics and music really stood out. Personally, would like to see more predictable enemy movements to add a layer of strategy. Overall, great work.

Nice shooter.
You did it with C/SDL, it seems like you fear nothing. Good job

Very cool game I really had fun playing it. Well done :)

Pretty interesting game, and it's really cool you developed it with SDL! I found both the rockets and the player moved a bit too slow for my liking but otherwise awesome job!

Great theme and atmosphere. I felt the rockets were a bit sluggish (I kept wanting to spam shoot quicker) as it was harder to work out where planets were going to go (others below have talked about it being more luck then skill).

But music, art and environment was awesome, keep up the good work!

Interesting game beebster.  Design is very unique and fresh take on the space shooter.  I found it quite tough and did get to Ludicrous mode, which certainly surprised me a little.  I love the graphics and sound.  I enjoyed playing it.

The only tweak I would suggest is that hitting the planets or enemies feels more like luck than skill, but more satisfying if a bit more skill is needed.  Perhaps the movements could be a bit less random and follow a pattern so you can think ahead.  I can see that you don't want it to be too predictable either, else it would get easy after a couple of playthroughs.

Great work and interesting to see an SDL game.

Thank you so much for playing the game. You are right about the slow rockets and it being luck more than anything else. The four slots on the bottom were going to be for other weapons, an ice rocket that froze the planets in stasis for 15 seconds. A fire rocket the would be a very large fire ball, and finally a seeking rocket that would be able to track a planet and destroy it. The special rockets would drop RNG from a destroyed planet.  I just never got around to it, mores the pity.

Thanks again for playing the game, it is appreciated. Looking forward to next year!!

Cool! It was a long time since I played a space shooter game

Developer

Thanks brother. I like em. Alot

Very intense gameplay and graphics and music are outstanding. Maybe too sporadic (random?) at times but it could be part the gameplay idea

Developer

Yes, the rockets are very random. There were some things that I wanted to do but never got around to them.

Thanks so much for plating. See you next year

Great work on the game! I managed to complete it, and the ludicrous level 10 was worth the wait, a nice reward for getting that far! As the other commenters have said, it would have been great to either have the rockets move faster, or the enemy movement more predictable, to allow the player to line up a shot, as hits felt more due to chance rather than skill. But overall, nice job, I also liked the graphics and music!

You are so correct on the randomness. There were many irons in the fire that I would have like to have implemented but just never got around to them.

This jam was so fun and the community was just excellent. I hope to see everyone next year.

Congrats on your submission! I really like the visuals of your game. I agree with the previous comment, the rockets do feel quite slow compared to everything else moving in the level. Since the planets seem to move randomly, it is difficult to predict their movements and line up a shot. It felt really satisfying when I did hit them though.

Thanks for playing my game brother. It is appreciated.

I liked your game a lot. It was very innovative, well thought out, and easy to play, very intuitive. Its games like yours that can become the next Candy Crush phenomenon.

I wish you well brother

I found the speed of the rockets to be frustratingly slow. I do think that was a design decision in order to add strategy as to where to fire them, but I just struggled with it and felt like I was kind of firing somewhat randomly and just hoping I'd hit something!

Developer

You are exactly right. The rockets is slow on purpose as part of the strategy of where to fire them. You are also correct that it is very frustrating. When I play the game I just move the turret back and forth and hold the mouse button down.

Did you get to Ludicrous mode?

Submitted(+1)

No I didn't get very far in it tbh!

Developer

So, what would you suggest that would have kept you playing longer? I want people to enjoy the game and your feedback is most welcome
