Really amazing, the story and the combat was really great and the fact we have to time the attacks makes it much better!

Really well done, I loved how you incorporated the theme and I was impressed with how much personality you were able to give each of the enemies mechanically even though it is pretty simple.  And the art and sound was great as well.

Nice job guys, the rpg qte mechanics are solid. I kind of wished I could run away sometimes but I had fun.

Dang, this might be my new favorite game of the jam so far. LOVE the 2.5D aesthetic, the pixel art is perfect, the world was well-crafted, the combat's great (I recently started playing Expedition 33 which has a similar "either you do the quick time events or you lose this turn-based combat" kind of thing, and I really like it). I think there were a lot of creative ideas implemented within this design space to represent different enemy types.
Of course I was hoping to see leveling/progression to keep the combat fresh, but I understand it must have taken tons of focus and effort to make this much.

Kickass job, love it!!

Amazing job on the game. I love the title screen and title. The combat mechanic was fun to play and engaging. The graphics overall was great, with my only complaint being the terrain texture was a bit too busy looking.  It was a lengthier game than I anticipated. Very well polished. My suggestion would be to make the game fully playable through the keyboard, in particular in the combat. Great job and keep up the good work!

Edit: I also wanted to add that I appreciated the variety in the combat and how more elements were introduced as you played. Notably, the enemies that attack more than once in a turn and the taunting one.

Great visuals, nice gameplay. Music was a bit annoying for me but fitted the vibe of old school rpg. Interesting combat mechanics as well. Overall a really great jam entry !

Damn that's good. And not even because you combined two of my fav things: FF and ants. Amazing sound and visuals, gameplay is good. The game would benefit a lot from some progress / levelling system, in my opinion.

For the balance purposes, I would suggest lowering the Spider's healing amount and Flea's speed a bit.
Antagonist made me chuckle.

Amazing work!

Totally agree on the progression. I think ultimately our team chose to ignore character progression in this case to pursue what we could with our limited availabilities during the jam. Thanks so much for playing and for the appreciation!

This game is so good!!! The combat is really cool. Great game! 😃👍

Great  visuals, quite the interesting idea for combat overall enjoyed it !

Really well done! The presentation is great. The fights are simple enough to grasp quickly but the quick time events keep you from zoning out. And just when I was getting complacent, the mantis boss was a wake up call. (Fleas combined with rhino beetles are cruel, however!)

The world/table is pretty enough, but it wasn't always clear what could and couldn't be traversed. When I got to the castle-like structure I didn't know where the entrance was. I walked all along the perimeter and accidentally got soft locked when a battle started and my character was obscured. I couldn't select attacks and wouldn't have been able to time defenses.

I would also say that the random encounters are a bit too frequent, given that there's no reward for them (other than survival.) I died once shortly before the rest spot in front of the castle and had to trek all the way back over the waterfall, which was very draining. And then the above happened and I don't think I have it in me to start all the way over from the beginning again. Despite that it was a great experience overall!

I forgot to talk about the sound effects! They worked perfectly to encapsulate what they were used for. For instance, successfully blocking an attack quickly becomes synonymous with the sound accompanying it, and likewise for landing a critical hit. I don't think I can explain it properly, but it has a strong positive reinforcement effect on me.  Without looking at anything, I can tell whether a fight is going well or not just by the audio.

Oh boy, this game is solid. The sound is great. I do like the music but it was static at times. Well done.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and helping us spot the bug. I think our audio woes are mostly behind us now!

Oh man, this game kept me so invested! I loved how the bosses were designed, but I didn’t like how enemies kept spawning every few seconds — it felt a bit annoying. Overall, it was a really fun game. Great job!

Developer

I guess the encounter rate was unintended and it should be back to an acceptable level. Way to go playing on Honor mode though! Thanks for the kind words and feedback!

nice visuals congrats.

It matches the theme so well! I'm not that much of a fan of random encounters, so, one thing i missed was the option to escape from some fights. Buuut, I totally understand why there isn't one.
The QTE in the fights were a nice addition! Helps to keep the turn-based combat engaging.
You guys did a very good job on character design, too.

Awesome game, great visuals and combat, the music was a bit jarring otherwise this is excellent.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing and for the feedback. I think we have the music issues solved in the most recent patch. Thanks so much for helping us spot the issue!

Cool battle mechanics with QTE. Visuals are good. There are some problems with audio lagging a little bit and I've been stuck during one of the fights, so I had to restart

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing and for the feedback! I think we solved the audio lag today, hopefully it didn't give anyone too bad of an experience!

very good game, my congrats.

Love this idea! My children have asked to save this one so we can try to fight the bugs again later.

The camera movement is on point

Beautiful animation, and I love how immersive the gameplay is. The multiple choice in combat is also cool.

I restarted the game multiple times to watch the cool intro hehe :)

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind feedback!
