nice game, i enjoyed it, you could add more challenge levels or make the boss harder to beat
Originally he had like triple health and did more damage, dropped more poison meat at the health points, but I was reminded that it's better to tone it down for the average person playing in a Game Jam sense. So as I am now building this into a bigger game, I'll be going to some tougher feels for sure.
Great game and amazing you made all the assets yourself! I especially loved the sound effect when you stepped in the green goop.
AHAHAHA! Thanks. Christie did awesome with the voicework. The rest of the sound effects was me messing around squishing my puffed up cheeks and such. The assets were a blast! I learned so much of using Aseprite.
Great job on making that one ! Very coherent in all aspects, the voice sound effects gives it a great humour touch !
Thanks! I hope you found it fun :D.
Congrats on completing the jam! I am definitely impressed with the scope for a game jam, especially since you did all of your own assets.
Thanks! It was a journey over the past 10 days. And I found out we have a mutual friends. She sent me the link to your game before I knew it was a part of this contest as well and saw it on my "random" feed. Good job on yours as well.
And yeah, the scope was large and I'm impressed nothing completely broke. It allowed me to get it done on time...ahahahhaa.
Ha, small world!
Realy nice game, gratz.. Loved the SFX and dub... I would only suggest to be able to use itens by number hotkeys, 1,2,3,4...
Congratz. Play my game if you can :)
Thanks! Someone else JUST told me the same thing. I'm starting to look at building a full game based on this "MVP". So I'll be sure to keep that in mind. Thanks! :D
big scope for a jam game, but I was impressed by what you were able to include. The boss was cool and the music /sfx were very well done. Usually when someone builds a pseudo rpg for a jam, you end up with a glorified walking simulator. So nice job on getting the content you put in to a finished state. I do wish there was a mini map, or UI icons to help me know where to go. When I spawned the boss, I had no idea where to find it, and the map is pretty big to just walk around. I also had the quest board bug out after I got the boss, so i couldn't read the quest for it. dunno if I missed out on some cool flavor text there.
Thanks Maya! Definitely a big scope and it was the smallest of all my ideas. Yeah, the bug I noticed near the submission time since the boss was the last thing I implimented and his event kinda locks out. You didn't miss any flavour in the game. I have like 4 lines recorded from Christie that I wanted to have play after. I totally get the issue with the boss, and I was worried about it. I originally had him pathing throughout the whole map, but toned it down last minute to up and down the main road so at least if you were close to the road, the 3D sound would help guide people better since I never learned how to do a minimap. And the cursor pointer was being an issue to code. But the feedback is noted and added to my list. HUGE thank you for taking the time to comment. I hope you had fun and enjoyed it!
Job Board bug is fixed. Thanks :D.
Nice job! It seems like you put a lot of work into this game and it shows!
Thank you very much! I worked really hard for sure. Definitely overscoped some, thinking "Aw, 10 days? It shouldn't be that bad." :P. Though I cut a LOT. With my brainstorming, it was definitely my smallest scope concept. AHAHAHA! I hope you had fun playing it and thanks for making time to comment!
I had fun, but didn't understand the connection with the jam theme...
Nevertheless, keep up the good work! :)
Glad you had fun. I tried going for a hunter vibe of the death of some helping be a support (or beginning) to others. I had that in the dialog to try to make it more apparent. But that is my bad for not communicating that as well as I could have. I also had a few more lines recorded but didn't have time to put in place that helped support it more in the later game. But that's, again, something from me overscoping.
Thanks for the feedback!
Ooooh, now I get it! You know, reading is hard... sry kkkkk And my game has a similar approach to the theme! My bad!
I liked the gameplay and the sounds were very funny!
I know it's a jam game, but if you keep working on it, I would like to see an "objective pointer". Someone on the comments said that he/she felt a little lost. Maybe an arrow pointing to the zone where the hunted monster spawns would solve that issue!
Oh no worries. without that little bit, I totally get it. And I am learning more that it's better to avoid written stuff in jam games because they OFTEN get overlooked. So I need to simplify my ideas more and scope down WAY more.
Glad you liked the gameplay and enjoyed the sounds. I had fun making squiching noises with my cheeks for the slimes.
I'm working on flushing it out more, and adding more landmarkers in the world and making things less far off to get to (probably) on the full game production that I'm already looking at. I want the player to really have fun deducing and finding clues (and me making time to leave clues) to help guide the player more on where to go 100%. I am lovin all the feedback.
Good job on finishing the game!
Oh thanks! I had to cut so much stuff like volume control, etc just to meet the deadline...ahahaha. Good job on you as well!
Very cool game, and very impressive for 10 days and solo work! This could totally be built up into a full fledged action adventure game, if you wanted to expand on it. I'd play it!
Oh HUGE thank you for that. I'm glad you like it. Yeah, I was surprised I got it done. The boss at the end was a last minute plan that took 2 days alone...lol. I'm getting a good number of "This could totally be built up into a full fledged game" so I just might!
Played and rated. Nice submission, congrats!
Pros
Cons
Overall very well done, it feels unique and the custom assets make it funny :)
Would appreciate if you check out and rate our game too: https://hadilepanda.itch.io/rise-of-necromancy
Thanks for the feedback. I'll be adding it to my fedback notes for sure. Tonight after I finish work, I plan on going through to play and vote on everyone that has done the same for my game :D. Huge appreciation.
really amazing good job
Thanks! I tried my best and that's all I could ask for :D.
Sound design was really well done, graphics too. Very nice entry :)
I couldn't figure out how to submit my blue slime extract for the quest. I got a full inventory of the blue flasks, but the quest board kept saying I had none.
Also the control menu seemed to break after I viewed it for the first time. Afterwards, The 'Controls' button didn't work in the pause screen.
Thanks :D! I hope you still had some fun. Thanks for the feedback. I'm collecting all the information and compiling it for what to look into later to fix for the long term.
I was sure the quest says "use the item in the inventory" which would progress it. Sorry it didn't do it automatically.
I'll look into the control menu issue. You're the first to bring that up.
HUGE thank you on the Controls Menu bug. You seem to be the only one that caught it. I fixed the issue now. It was looking to the wrong function/game object. Much appreciated :D
Juicy, LOL!
AHAHAH! That was the idea of Raistael of a funny thing to do.
I like this one very much, so many game elements in such a short time.
Thanks Kethram. I was coding like a mad persona nd praying for as few "breaking of code" as possible throughout it all. Just fixing anything I could along the way instead of "saving it for later". I'm glad you liked it. I had a BLAST creating it and a huge smile on my face when I got that boss done at the end before submitting (the last 2 days was just the boss).
This was really fun! I feel like having my inventory full of meat at the end of the game was a worthy reward :) I really liked the animations and the slime behaviors. and the BLEHHG
BWAHAHAHAH! I never even got to fill my inventory with meat! I'm glad you had lots of fun.
Totally love this! It looks like it already has a decent amount going for it and this could grow into a full game. I admire the art and animations, and the ease of controlling the character.
That warms my heart! Thanks :D. Yeah, I have a huge "What I want" list to make it into a full game at some point. Thanks for playing and commenting!
fun game for sure, totally had to beat it. some volume control for the voice would be good, it was a bit loud for me. but overall pretty good job!
Sorry about the volume. I wish I had time to adjust that before submitting. Glad you had fun and felt like you had to beat it :D.
I went and lowered the volume on the 2 voiced lines at the start and even dropped the volume on the AudioSource that plays them. I hope it is at a more managable place. I want to add a volume control in the long term but I don't want to change too much cause of the submission. I'd like to not blow out peoples' ears.
nice action game , could use more feedback on combat when you hit an enemy
Thanks hboudaha. What kind of feedback are you thinking?
Maybe a sound effect or a flash frame on their hurt animation , right now the hurt animation looks similar to the attack one
Awesome for the feedback. Added to my list. Huge thank you for yor time on it.
