I love the overall concept and backstory of this game, but finding the spy was pretty hard the first time I played the game. Dance mode was super hard for me, probably because the arrow keys don't have the same arrangement as on the screen, but was really fun anyhow.

Developer

Thanks for the review :) We'll try to introduce variable difficulty on a future update !

Nice work, good theme interpretation and dance mode is the best :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks :) Glad you enjoyed the game

I absolutely loved the music, but as it took me a while to find the spy, I wish that it looped. Amazing how well the "wrong selection" sound effect fit in with the music. My only other feedback would be that perhaps the party scene would function more interestingly if people stood around in groups, and would occasionally leave groups to mill about before joining another one. All in all, interesting game! I would like to see it fleshed out more in the future if you're thinking about doing that. Good job!

Developer

Thanks ! We were thinking about turning it into a party game as it was the initial concept of the game :) We made a solo game for people to be able to test the game alone (easier in a jam) .

That was fun! The concept is quite different, and the backstory made me chuckle. I was terrible at dance mode, but rhythm games have never been my strong point. Great work, it's a unique experience!

Developer

Glad you liked it :) ! I was also terrible at dance mode while testing the game :(

Very fun game! Simple to understand and really effective,  good job!

Feedback-wise, I would recommend to add more visual feedback when you hit or miss the buttons when dancing. Also, there's a typo in the main menu -> Chanllenge instead of Challenge, that's it! :)

Check our game if you want too :)

Developer

Hey :) Thanks for the review, good catch about the typo.

I'll check out your game for sure :)

Fun little game! But the spy is no match for my ultimate dancing skills!

I think it needs a R (reset) button, i kept having to close and start the game

Developer(+1)

Yup ! Restart button is a good idea, I'll update it after the rating phase

I absolutely suck at dance mode hahaha!

Love the way you've interpret the theme and music is good too :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the review !

Some people said dance mode was too hard, it's actually pretty random, either the AI is godlike or really bad

Submitted

Really cool theme interpretation.

Developer

Thanks for the review :)

That's a unique combination. Finding the spy is not that hard, but beating him is not doable for me - I suck too much at these kind of games.

What's the engine used?

Developer

Hey ! Thanks for the comment. The dance mode might be a bit hard, we will need to balance that or create a easy / hard mode.

The engine is a homemade engine called ÖbEngine : https://github.com/Sygmei/ObEngine

Feel free to reach me if you are interested in the engine :)

Good theme interpretation, I played the two versions, actually it was easier to find the spy in the second one, the music is good.

Developer

Thanks ! I think there's no real difference about the spy in the two versions, maybe he was in a place / direction that was easier to spot for you :) ?

That was fun! The Kremlin agent couldn't follow our samba moves. xD

I had an issue with mouse input when trying to play on Linux, mouse clicks were not captured right under the cursor. Then I ran the game on Windows and everything went OK. :)

Nice work! Keep it up! :D

Developer

Woops ! I had no issues on Linux, what's your distribution / desktop environnement ? Also what is your screen resolution :) ?

Submitted

I am using Ubuntu 18.04, Gnome Desktop, resolution 1920x1080 (16:9). I am also using dual monitors, I guess that's what causing this trouble. X Window System never handled dual monitors well with me. :(

Developer

Good to know, I'll try to investigate ! Thanks for the report :)

Had great time playing it. Loved the game modes !!

Do check our work too 😁

Developer

Thanks a lot ! I'll check it out for sure :)

Great audio & ambiances ! +1 for the engine used :)

Developer

Glad you liked it ! Did you know the engine before you played the game :o ?

Submitted(+1)

It's you who makes me discover it on discord!

Developer

Oh right haha !

Funny and clever. The presentation is great too. I've read what the full idea is and I think it's great, I love asymmetric multiplayer games. Are you planning on finishing the game?

Developer(+1)

Thanks !

Yes we are planning to provide updates afterward to complete what could not be done during the jam !

Submitted(+1)

Very cool! Please check out my game if you have some time!

Great audio and visuals, and I like the two different game modes. I think that if I wanted to see something get improved, it'd be the 'spotting the spy' mode- maybe incorporating more interesting ways to spot them than just their movement speed. But the game is really solid, had a good time!

Developer(+2)

Yup ! We ran out of time, that's why the "spy spotting" part is just a difference of speed. Originally, the game was supposed to be a 2 player game where one of the player plays as the spy and the other one as the detective but we thought that rating a 2 player game is pretty hard as you don't always have a friend next to you. We'll try to provide some updates to the game with more interesting things to do on the spy spotting game mode :)

Thanks for your review !

No problem! I think it was a great call to make it a solo friendly game.

Feel free to check our game out if you have some time!

Cool concept!  The initial presentation was great, and the art / audio is really well done.

It was very unclear how to spot the spy.  The "hint" of "he is slightly faster" was somewhat helpful but overall just comparing the speeds between various guests wasn't very fun.  When the dossier said that he was "stealing objects" I was expecting to be able to spot him doing this, but it didn't seem like the level contained any objects that he would be doing, everyone just wandered randomly.  It was also unclear that I needed to click on him multiple times... he just turned green at first.

The "dance" part was a fun little DDR thing, and was a really cute way to beat the game.  The music does get desynced from the arrows about halfway through the song though.

Overall good job!

Developer

Hey ! Thanks for your review :)

As you could see, the dossier gives some wrong indications, we wanted the spy to steal some props but we ran out of time and speed difference was the easiest way to do things.

You don't need to click on the spy multiple times though, there's a 6 seconds delay between the click and the game mode swap, to give you some time to read the sentence, it might have been confusing, we'll try to make it more obvious by adding visual hints.

And for the DDR part, the arrows generation is only based on the BPM, that's why it's a bit out of sync, if we had more time we could have used more precise timers :p

So glad to have worked on this! Please let us know what you think :)
