Theme interpretation
We built a game that is a hybrid of the survival horror and RPG genres. The game also deals with themes of feeling split, a hybrid of two identities (a past life and a new one).

"Graves... i used to play here"

The music and atmosphere is really creepy, and her face...  her face is dam creepy!

Awesome game! :D

Developer

It's not something you want to hear someone say.

I've seen a handful of entires that mash up the "survival horror" genre with other genres, but this is the first one that felt like it actually made that idea work. The tension that comes from scarcity of items, and managing when and how to use them, was palpable for me. Altogether a strong concept executed well. Congrats!

Developer

Wow, thank you so much!

I really like the atmosphere of this game ! The fights were a bit repetitive though, but the final shotgun shot is so satisfying (plus when the game went back to color, it was so cool).

Developer

Yeah, my favorite way to end it is with a crit shotgun shot.

That subversion of expectations at the start with the girl shoving shard of glass in to the neck of the innocent dude is gold :-D

Developer

It's a fun way to open for sure!

Wow great game! The background, environment and icon graphics are freaking amazing! Looks like you ran out of time with the portrait graphics. haha.

The music is very spooky, I love the music.

Developer

Thank you!

I liked some of the writting and sounds used to set up the mood, but the gameplay was overall a bit too repetitive with the guard healing mechanic, as it was kind of easy to cheese. The intro atmosphere definitely set up for something, although to be honest I didn't like the girl's personality that much lol. Store guy is cool though 8)
Got to add that I didn't see much "hybrid" in the game.

Developer

Thanks for checking it out!

I love the game, a good example of the games that can be done with rpg maker

Developer

Thanks! It was a fun engine to learn.

Love the atmosphere the game creates. The first interaction with the guy sets the tone well

Developer

Thanks- yeah it was fun to play around with and I think we hit the right tone with the opening.

I love the universe and the sound/chara design ! Great job

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yours did too! Thanks for playing :)

Loved the psychological horror elements. The ending was awesome, and I liked how the game wants to trick you into using the glass shard before the final fight. Great job!

Developer

Thanks so much- and thanks for the Twitter follow! I'll be keeping an eye on your stuff too! :D

Played through it twice. It really did nail that combination of survival horror and jRPGs. I feel like one of the most satisfying parts of both can be that research management and this was balanced pretty well.

This game has some really creepy moments, especially beginning. I was like WTF just happenned. Main chacter is also very interesting.

This is also quite challenging, so I rushed avoiding enemies. I got final fight pretty early so probably missed some of the content.

Developer (1 edit)

I designed the game hoping that rushing past some enemies would be a viable strategy (a la Resident Evil 1). Though it does make the game more challenging. Were you able to beat the final boss despite not getting drops from some of the enemies? I'm glad you enjoyed your time with it!

Submitted(+1)

Fortunately I found a few bandages on map and few bullets from monsters. I beat the final boss on first try - hint: glass shard is OP.

Developer

Glass shard is v OP ;)

I've been enjoying seeing how few people realize they have it available for use.

Glad you were able to beat it!

Well, I haven't really noticed it's there until boss fight where situation was pretty dire. So I thought I can give it a try as had no ammo left. Worked perfectly.

Developer

That's great to hear. Exactly the kind of situation I put it in there for.

What the hell did I play? It is so scary to play when you wear earphones. I wish I had the same skill level at your 2d art.

Developer

Haha I'm glad we were able to get the audio design right.

I began to play without reading the description and I encountered a few "WTF did just happen?!" moments. :-D

Very nice graphics, story and game play! Good job.

Developer

Hahaha that just makes it more fun! Thanks for playing!
