Rated - Oh a very crisp and polished graphics! The idea needs a bit more tweaking/gameplay.  Hope you learned a lot this game jam, and good job submitting a game! Take notes on peoples suggestions and improve your next game. When you have time, please check out my game~ good day!

This is a well made game. The gameplay was interesting and fun. Had to figure out how the elevator counting worked. The artwork looked so polished and the music goes well with the game. Overall a well made game.

The idea, music and graphics is all pretty good. The gameplay is a bit confusing. Overall a pretty good jam game. Well done.

It's a nice idea but it gets boring after little time in my opinion. I figured out after a while that the numbers on the side of the buildings were customers waiting to take the elevator and not the floor I was suppsed to go to, after you understand it the game is more clear but it took me some time.

Also the rate of the client's satisfaction in their panel is not so clear at first sight.

I think it could have been better with a short description of the mechanics in the beginning of the game for dumb people like me ahah

There's a little issue with the lie theme to me, we came across this with our team too when we were brainstorming, if the game lies to you and then the lie becomes a new staple for the game mechanic then it's not a lie anymore. I found your game a little bit like this, the elevator takes you to the wrong floor, every once in a while the offset changes but after the first time you are aware of it all and the game doesn't lie to you anymore.

The graphics were really cool, especially the art for the pompous characters inside the elevator.

The idea for the music is right but I could here that some drums beat were off and the execution was a bit sloppy sometimes. Still, blues is the right way to go!

Overall this is a nice entry, nice work!

If you have time it would be great if you'd check out our entry :)

Yep, the gameplay gets boring pretty quickly. I didn't even realise that the numbers were people waiting; I thought that's were the people in the elevator wanted to go to. I also agree with your other points. Though I would like to add that it is sometimes impossible to reach certain floors. Since the zero button doesn't work, the lowest the elevator goes is to the offset + 1 (offset = +2 at the start).

Yeah I noticed thet too, but that's because the ground floor is listed as floor 1, that's why you can't use number 0.

I think that some floors are unreachable to force you to make some choices over the passengers, I think the idea behind that is to give way to the passengers that you can actually take to the right floor and leave the others on board waiting. I don't know maybe it's just my take on the game ahah

The game loop for me was this:

1. Click on number.
2. Click on close door.
3. Wait for lerp.

I felt detached from the action and not very interested in the fate of my passengers.

It was difficult to determine who wanted to go where. If you pick a person up on the 4th floor, then an exit and the next guy who wants to hop on board appears. Eventually, you have lots of people wanting to get on and off. No idea which of them is more upset and where they want to go. This leads to uncontrolled / unexpected failures.

The game restarts immediately after you fail. In such a seamless way, that you can only deduce you lost by seeing the tutorial play again and counter referencing that against your score which is now zero.

The music is a valiant effort, because it's clearly live. Nice show for a game jam game. However, the live performance isn't without its flaws. The drummer skips beats every now and then. Unfortunately it's noticeable.

The art is consistent, which is nice. I particularly liked the quirky character faces. Very original.

Theme. The elevator changes range. That's the extent of the lie. From my perspective this is a miss.

In conclusion, the game is worse than the sum of its parts. I think the primary problem is the core design and the loop. Intrinsically repetitive and not particularly exciting. I wouldn't continue developing this if I were making the calls. You guys do you. :)

Thanks for playing and your thoughtful reply. You have highlighted a lot of our frustrations!

We had so much more we wanted to put into the game but time was not on our side! We had a bigger story in mind with recurring characters and had more designs for the interface that didn't make the cut.

The guys who played the music were recruited in the last few hours and the track you hear was the very first take. (the other takes were more tight but this one had a cooler vibe). We told them that we wanted a 30 sec track so the drummer kept trying to end it but the guitarist and bassist were having too much fun!

We may continue to develop it and will certainly use your feedback if we do.

I'm a big fan of art deco, probably because my first game was Bioshock, so you got me right in the feels for the visuals. The sounds are amazing and the little elevator music loops very well! I found the game pretty hard as i have no memory at all ! It would have been great if i could put little stickers with the right number on the panel, it would'nt destroy the gameplay as the configuration changes constantly. Good job, keep making art deco games please there are never enough !

Thank you for your comment. We love art deco as well, hopefully we'll make more games in this style. We had a lot of fun on the sound and music, it was all recorded on a phon a few hours before submissions were due ... it ties the game together nicely.

Really like the art style!

I think it need to be game.

This is my favourite game in the jam.

Game design, innovation, graphics, sound, compatibility with theme is very good.

If some more funny elements will be added, it'll better to play.

Thanks so much for your kind comment, there was so much more we wanted to add to the game - if only we had the time! Hopefully we can make a full version soon!

i dont know if i have bad pattern recognition when it comes to things like this or if its just completely random. whatever the case this is a very stylish and unique game. great job

Developer

Haha yeah it gets tough to remember and figure out the offset at times. Thanks for playing!

Really interesting and original game. I really like the music.

Really cute game, I love the feel and style you gave to it and its simplicity as well. At some point it became difficult to find the right formula for the floor numbers but I suppose that is the point :D Good work man! Please try our game out too if you can <3
