The music was alright, with quite some variety of instruments. However, you're using multiple artstyle at once, that don't go well together. For example the characters, ground, background and effects all look very different from eachother.

I thought that the two exe's were also part of lie in the game, but I guess that wasn't the case. I wasn't able to defeat the large skull on the left part of the first level. However, I did watch the walkthrough video to see the rest of the game. It isn't great that your game actually starts after a difficult bit, since this can prevent people from playing the part that the game is all about.

So far I've rated more than 10% of the games submitted and a lot of the games (30%) use the hidden platforms and obstacles lie. Obviously you didn't know that it would be this common whilest making the game, but that does mean that the game will be compared to a lot of similar games. I've seen three types of games: trial and error, reveal with the mouse and reveal around the player.

I would say that reveal around the player is the best way to implement this mechanic. So, well done in that regard. However, to me your game doesn't differentiate itself enough from similar types of games. Perhaps you can make the start of the game easier, so that more people can get to the part were you introduce the reveal mechanic.

Developer

Thanks for the feed back~ In the current game build I added 2 second immunity from for the boss fight.  Now I'm trying to figure out how to give knock back to regular enemies.  I plan on make the reveal stay a bigger size too, many people suggested that.  Thanks again for playing!

Super Great Game! You payed so much attention to detail and made it like you were really having an impact on the world around you. It is very surprising that you were able to create this in one week.

Developer

Thanks!  I made 2 scrolling background and 4 different tile sets, it's cool how much you can do with that :D I love making thing react to the player, thanks for playing~

Both graphics and audio are excellent.

The game is very rich of elements and does not appear to be glitched. That is great.

The sword has a very short range and combined with the health of the first boss makes the first part very long, this may discourage some players. The rest of the game was fun.

At first it can be hard to understand that some blocks can be pushed, maybe you can add something to make it more clear.

It is one of the best game I have found so far among the jam entries.

Developer

Thanks for playing!  The current build I added immunity frames when fighting the boss~ I will add some arrow symbols to the pushing blocks to make it more clear~ Thanks for the comment!

Cool game, I like puzzle elements in it. Very nice graphics!

Thanks for playing~

Really nice graphics and music. It was a little challenging because I couldn't attack enemies without taking hits myself so died a couple of times in the beginning. Enjoyed playing it and thought it was a good game overall!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I used a poke and move away attack style when making it.  I should have suggested it in the beginning.  Now i am trying to add a knockback.

Hi men, cool game, I like the combo of little puzzels, fighting enemies and fighting endbosses. How did you make the disappearing ground and walls? is this done with a mask and matching collider objects that match the position and size? Anyway, really clever.

Developer

Thanks! Yes i used spritemasks~ layered images.  One visible inside the mask one visible outside.

Great work and cool concept! I also really like the music and graphics. It might be an idea to make the character always face the mouse cursor, at least during combat. Another idea might be to change the attack button to something else than the mouse.

Developer

Thanks for checking my game out!  I will add to my notes~

Nice design work, aligns very well with the theme of the jam too. But the lack of feedback is kinda jarring and I really hope you flesh it out alongside the aesthetics.

Developer

Thanks for playing!  By feedback do you me a knock back on enemies?  Currently there is only black particles and sfx as feedback connecting a hit.

Great game, nice level design!

Developer

Thanks for playing~

Rated ^^ (Please add knockback to the hits, it's so unfair getting hit always for that reason D: )

Developer(+1)

Thanks!  I will study how to do knock back~

Fun but a bit challenging in the cave. Love the idea, good graphics, I like the effect of the platforms disappearing being animated it's more misleading than if it was simply appearing when you are in a certain radius it makes it interesting.

Thanks for playing!

The graphics and the music is pretty good. The game idea is simple and it fits the jam theme well. For me the game was too difficult to get very far, but that is okay. Overall a pretty good jam game. Well done.

Thanks for giving it a try~ currently it is a hit once and run game haha.

The game is fun. I would have used more the "break fake walls with the hammer" mechanics. You do that once in the first stage and then the hammer just becomes a weapon of mass destruction.

The revealing shield platform mechanic was ok, the problem is that i've seen that so many times by now that it has become boring, but it's not your fault.

The melee combat was good overall. In the first part it's really hard to damage the enemies without getting hit, especially the boss before the shield.

When you pick up the hammer it becomes easier but I noticed that the hitbox of the flying hammers is a bit broken sometimes, I found myself hitting an enemy and not making any damage.

Also a visual feedback for the player's invulnerability span after you've taken damage is needed.

The jump right after you pick up the lighter shoes is hard for no reason in my opinion, the one where you have to jump forward and then come back in mid air. I get the point that you have to demonstrate the new feature to the player but the big jump right after was more then enough to show it.

Overall the fights were balanced well and I liked the progression of the game.

I think the voice dub for the game is cheesy, if you're not an actor maybe a solid text with a cool looking font is better.

The music was good and the sound fx too.

Nice game!

Thanks for playing!  I will work on the mechanics more~  The boots were supposed to be dash boots, but I had to scrap the idea and change the last level.  (I couldn't get a dash code to work well haha, need to study how to do it more).  Thanks for the awesome feedback!

my review:

The game was just awesome! It made so much fun to play trought!

The game fits very good to the theme

the graphics and the music/audio was 5/5

just one or two 2 I notices: i gliched in the first world in to the ground, dont know how

and the second boss was for me a little bit to difficuld and the last 2 bosses were to easy cause of the hammer.

but overall very good game keep up the great work mate!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!  I will work on my melee gameplay more~ Thanks again.

Another game that looks great from the screeenshots, but which I cant really rate from that. And I can't play as I'm using a mac. Next jam, please -please - upload a web version like we did.

Developer

You can check out the gameplay video if you are curious~   I had a problem trying to make a web version ;/

Another vote for alternative builds here!!  Want so much to try your game!  Looks really good from the trailer and screenshots.  Can your engine build for linux?  I'll add your game to my collection and hopefully I'll find I can try it later.

Pretty nice. The sound effects and ambience rather than music really give it a zenlike feel. Although I've starting to see the "game lies by using hidden platforms/items that can only be revealed through a circular aoe effect" crop up a bunch, I think it was used well here. The zenlike feel i was talking about earlier really contrasts with the difficulty lol. It's the good kind of difficulty that mainly makes you feel like your failures are your fault. The only real issue i have difficultywise is the lack of invincibility frames on the player (getting gibbed in 3 frames for standing too close to something sucks) and the tiny bit of input lag on attacking from what i'm assuming is the sword animation.

Game is, again, well done, though! The backtracking sort of progression is nice, and the artwork (especially the backgrounds) is very good.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback~  I'll add it to my notes, and thanks for playing!

I really liked the theme and wished I could have made it a little further through the game (I tried for awhile) but I am left handed so having the attack on the mouse while jumping with space made it hard for me. Besides that you did a really great job! Keep up the good work!

Developer

Thanks for playing!  I played WoW so long my controls are always like it hehe
