As a general game, this isn't bad! The graphics are good, though the light level is a bit too low, and the background music isn't bad.
played and rated yours!
don't forget to check my game please

I|m sorry but I didn't like that one.
It was too dark for my taste, most of the time I couldn't see where i was Jumping. The jumps felt not 'reliable' and I got stuck in the boxes. It was not clear which boxes (and other items) you could jump on and which were only decoration.
So in the end it was just try'n'error to find the exit and it felt more like work than like a game.
Nevertheless you made some pretty effects with the light renderer and particle effects.
Nice game and cool art, audio is glitchy but you've adressed that already. It is kinda hard to tell where to go because of the darkness, but I understand thats part of the game.
Anyway, good job.
Rated - Neat game, I really like it~ The controls feel smooth and I like your sprite art, especially the wall tiles. The lighting is super cool too, like the candles flickering. Add a very cool mood to the game, great job! After the jam add some more sfx and music if you have the motivation~ Please check out my game, you can rate from watching my gameplay video or downloading.
Sure i will, thanks for your feedback, this morning i added some extra details to the level design and did a rework on the sprites of the platforms.
About the audio as i said in another comment i will ask a friend to help me with it, so it will probably sound much better than what i have now.
Hi there, so also with you, I came here cause of your karma, returning the favor sorta speak ;)
So I liked the graphics and music and also the way you build the levels. maybe you can put the comment about jumping right under the screen so it's faster to find.
About the gameplay, I really didn't know what else I could do in the level, is there more than the first ground?
Anyway nice little game.
Thanks for your feedback
Right now there are only two lineal levels but i will add a few more and sub levels.
In the first one after you reach the part with the spikes there are some platforms at the right (is kinda hard to see them), in the second one you can reach the end but it doesn't send you to another level, that was all i could do for the jam.
I liked this game, but it got frustrating quickly due to the low level of light and the disappearing platform on level 1. I couldn't figure out how to finish the first level since I couldn't ride that platform. :/ On the other hand, your art was amazing! Overall, you did a great job!
Thanks for your feedback , right now the only way to make them reappear is killing yourself, but i'm already working on an update where they will reappear after some seconds, also i already adjusted the global light and did a few more details on the level design.
Having the boxes you can jump on and the boxes that are just in the background look the same is quite confusing. Also it's sometimes impossible to see what is a platform and what is a drop, so unless you are supposed to just die repeatedly and learn the level by memory then that made this very frustrating
It is not very clear when you die. Sometimes, I repop at the entrance when jumping throuth the white shoots, sometimes I pass safely without understanding what I did different.
Also the falling platform should repop over time I thing, because I miss my jump, and got stuck on the bottom platform as there was no more access to the top level where the door was. I had let myself die to restart the level.
The loop of your music create some sound glitch, I noticed.
Cool pixel art style, I like the transition you made, so the character rotate on himself when you change directions. It's cute
Congrats on making this game!
Those white particles come out of spikes that are on the ground and have a small hitbox, the actual particles are making hard to see them (the opposite purpose of why i have them there), i will make them a lot more visible when i change the global light and add them a small glow (and probably delete that particle effect).
About the platforms i was going for making them reappear, but i got scared by the jam time and did the function only delete the object.
I will work on a dead feedback, at least a sound and a transition.
The music glitch i don't really know what is making that happen, i believe i have null musical skills so i will ask a friend to help me with that.
I like the art style of your game but I think it's a bit difficult to see where do I go
Thank you, I will keep working on it and one of the things I will change is that, I have been using a global light with 0.1 of intensity now I will change it to 0.2 or 0.3 so it will be also possible to notice more details that I'm planning to add.
And I will probably add a small glow to the traps
Lovely art style! Though it is way too dark for me to see. It would probably helps if the platforms are full block rather than a thin planks. Also, the music cold use a loop treatment so it doesn't end too abruptly. Overall, nice work!
I would love if you could review the art style in my game. It is a top-down shooter with pixelated art style. This is my first time ever making pixel art!
I already checked your game and left a comment there.
About the platforms i will probably go for full blocks, im thinking in change a lot of the background and all of my tileset maybe going for something like this thing i did for another project About the music i did it using BoscaCeoil and it was looped, but i dont know what happened with it ingame, got that harsh crack that Angelbait was talking about in his comment previously.
I love that metroid-esque sprite! About the music, maybe it's the problem with sound export or file format? I know that Unity have problems with mp3 files. I normally used wav or ogg for my projects.
While I'm at it, what kind of technique you used for the 2D lighting? Any tutorial reference maybe?
For the 2D lights I used Lightweight Render Pipeline 6.7.1, Brackeys has a video about it, I did just a few basic stuff with it in this project, but if you need you can do a lot more even using scripts, i will try to do one later to change the lights radius based on the flame sprite so it will feel a bit more natural.
Thanks for the tips!
Good game! Good music, good art. But the music shouldn't replay when you die. Also you should make the box that you can touch and the one that you can't different. Other than that. Good job!
Edit: Traps are also pretty hard to see.
Pixel art is great but kind of hard to see. But good game overall.
This is a pretty solid platformer entry, I felt like the game was hiding things from me more than lying about it, and a harsh crack in the music mad it hard to beat: I cant remember how to fix that but I've run into it before. Thanks for the game dude!
Thanks for your feedback, i added the music a few minutes before uploading the game so when i noticed that, it was already too late to try to fix it for the jam.
The game was originally intended to be a story driven platformer, there i was going to add a bit more "lies” and do more around that, but for the time i ended without adding the story and working more around the lights.
After the jam rating i will keep working on this and i will try to fix that and add more of what i originally intended.
I couldn't finish it, I only did two levels of the 5 I had thought, probably will keep working on this in the future, had a lot of unplanned stuff this week and also some problems while making the game, realized i was going for something that was to much to end it for the jam, changed my scope at the middle of the jam and then rushed to have something to share.
