The game idea and graphics are very nice, but the camera movement is a bit annoying.
Impressive that you were able to put this together during the jam! I think it fits the theme really well. I really like the UI and the game art as well. I think you have a really fun and unique concept on your hands with this game. My only suggestions are to smooth the camera movement when rotating the character and to check the collision detection a bit as I had some sheep going beneath the terrain near a hill/mountain. Aside from those minor things, really great job on your first jam! :)
Played and rated! I really liked your game!
Don't forget to rate my game please: https://itch.io/jam/cgj/rate/476599
The camera movement wasn't pleasant and there was no sound in the game. I also would have preferred a simple attack button over the button smashing. Though, the art was alright.
Liked the graphics and the music, too. However, camera controls and bugs stopped me from enjoying the game. That's unfortunate, because I liked the idea of "smash-buttons-to-kill".
I hope you can work on the game some more :) Keep it up!
I like the idea of the game !
There are some problems with the camera but it was fine for me. The graphics are really great, it's really nice !
But the fighting system feels odd. I think that it is really hard to win a fight and because the player's input is random, it don't feel like you know exactly what you are doing...
But except that I enjoyed the game ! Nice job :)
Came here after you posted the Oracle video. Interesting stuff. For game play reasons you'd probably want to lighten the weight against the player, but as an example it's really nice!
Mission is to infiltrate packs of sheep, then lure one away to a safe distance from guard dogs and smash X / Z in a (completely) random pattern to eat it / fight dogs.
We wanted to make a tutorial level, and sort out some bugs - but time didn't allow for it unfortunately. We'll release a new version after the jam with some fixes! :)
I liked the idea a lot and I think it's innovative for the theme of jam, but it comes up against the realization! there are flying wolves everywhere and sheep that lose blood for hours ahah these things make me laugh and it's funny but I think you wanted to exaggerate with this 3d environment. congratulations to the artist because the game is very nice :)
this is our game if you like to try it: Superhero Academy
The camera controls are making it impossible for me to play. I don't normally suffer from motion sickness, but the way it works in this game is difficult to stomach. Every time the character turns left or right, the camera strafes to the left or right until it gets to the player's transform.position +/- 1f on the transform.TransformDirection(Vector3.right) axis, depending on input. This makes the screen shake violently from left to right when you change direction. Then it starts rotating in the desired direction.
Other found bugs include: sheep stuck in geometry, flying wolves, invisible wall at the end of the slope.
I wasn't able to understand the goal and controls of the game, so after losing a few times I gave up.
Highlight of the game is its graphics. They look consistent and well made in general. Perhaps the grass texture is a little unrefined.
Music and SFX are there and they work. I like the human sheep sounds.
Conclusion: unplayable for me.
Interesting entry. The random pattern mechanic is both challenging and unique, altough at times feels a little bit unforgiving. Don't take that too seriously, tough. It might also be just me not being random enough.
Good work with the aesthetics. It is always nice to see someone take the extra challenge of working with 3D assets for a game jam.
Even tough it is stated on the UI, a small message indicating how to fight would have been helpful. Camera work also feels kind of abrupt. I did encountered a bug leading to flying wolves which was actually pretty funny to see.
Great work, overall. Extra kudos for working on 3D!
An interesting take on the theme. I found the random input part to be difficult but such an interesting design mechanic. Extra props for going 3D on a jam game. 👍Well done!
Finally someone has appreciate the predictive input mechanic (based on aaronson oracle)! Jokes aside its great that someone who have made in 7 days such a cohesive game as Rough Planet took time to play our game! Thanks a lot!
I liked the 3d ideia, but the camera rotates too much. It's a nice job, i liked the interface, the sound and the game colors You chose.
This is a very interresting game and fun. The game was fun to play. Liked the art style. The environment was good and the music went well with the game. Overall a fun game to play. I have noticed that the random pattern input given gets learnt by the game(or may have not given random enough input), did you use ML in the game? Just curious.
Thank you your comment. Yes the random input is actually an implementation of aaronson Oracle. It a statistical way of predicting the input based on the fact that unaware person don't really making random inputs, but rather falls into patterns. I wish we had time to expose it a little bit more.
