Interesting game, at first I was disoriented because the game plays itself, and you have to wait to act, but in the end, it's the part that I enjoyed. It's a slow pace kind of game and the music going with the rhythm works perfectly. It got a bit predictable too fast but overall, It's a cool game!

This was a great way to execute the theme. The music was really great and your writing really made it feel like a kingdom simulator. I enjoyed this a lot. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had played this on my mobile. Thanks for this amazing game!

Please take some time to play and rate my game too. I would really appreciate it! Thanks a lot! Cheers!

The game was interesting to follow through, there were some difficult decisions, though I feel like a lot of them were pretty binary decisions which meant I didn't end up thinking about which one a lot of the time.  Not much debate.  Just a bit of summed up feedback tho:

  • Actual feedback, in the game specifically, there wasn't much.  Feedback on the impact your choices had on trust etc. wasn't very clear.  I had times where stuff I thought would badly impact trust seemed to have near no impact.  Adding more numbers and stats for you to see, and possibly directly showing a change in the numbers after a choice is made rather than changing it before switching back could help with that.
  • The main loop was a lot of waiting.  It sped up after the first bit, but it was still generally just waiting for a pop up to click an option on and see the outcome.  Not much stuff to busy yourself with to keep attention etc.  Changing the choices to a pop up on the side of the screen with maybe a different icon depending on what it is could help with that.
  • As for the options, as I said above they seem a little too binary for my taste.  A lot of them were relatively simple.  Though a few of them shined, specifically the one about the police force and the one about religion.  They had some interesting choices, though without feedback I couldn't directly tell what impact it had.
  • The text felt a bit cluttered, and a little hard to understand depending on the message.  A few times I missed important information because the start of the message was the same and it was cluttered enough for me to miss the specifics.

Overall the concept is interesting, if explains a little too unclear and wordy personally for me to understand without playing it.  With a bit of polish and some more interaction from the player, as well as clearer feedback on what happens based on your interaction it could be interesting.

This game is reatty good, kinda boring not gonna lie. I like the idea and the execution. Sounds are nice and so is the music. Good job

Interesting game. Could be even better with some polishing !

Thank you again for reviewing my game earlier on discord!

Excuse me for my poor english, I'm not used to speak it. I hope this will be more intelligible.

First off, the interface is neat, the music fit the theme of your game. The sound effects are good too.

The texts were well written and the story interesting. After a while it was repetitive but it is understandable due to the time constrait of the jam.

Overall it was a fun experience, quite immersive.

At first I believed it was a strategy game, that why I told you it needs more information. As it is more of a narrative game, this is not really necessary.

The scoring system seems broken, I played a game were I tried to "suicide" my country as fast as possible and get a negative score.
I didn't see any bad consequence of having a high score either.
I understand that you made this system because of the jam theme but I think it would be better to use a simple money system (with negative events when you are in debt).
There is a lot of empty space in the main menu (when there are no report), I think it would be great if you put a "journal" of ongoing events. That would help to understand what is going on, especialy in the late game were there is a lot of events happening at the same time.

A fast forward button would be great too, the game is a bit slow the first years.

Developer

You might say that scoring system is a little broken. But point is that you're getting two scores on the end game screen: score and how many month you've ruled this country.
So, you can "suicide" it and you'll get a negativescore, but you won't get a good length of the game in months.

Criticism - Once you play for a little bit some events get extremely predictable, so more variation would help, but I understand that there was limited time.  The art design could've also been a bit nicer and a bit less bright.

Support - This is a super innovative idea, it really gives me Reign vibes which I really like.

This was a solid entry. I would suggest polishing this game up, add some additional visual to give a little more appeal. And put in the mobile market. Nice work! I streamed it here:

Got a glitch where it stopped progressing in August for some reason, but I was enjoying it before that. Kind of a fun little choose your own adventure game. Well done.

Developer

Strange, you are he on;y one who encountered such a problem. Did you tried to go to main menu and continue your game after that? It might help to restore a game state.

i like the game and the ending cool game

It's an interesting concept, and I love that it's made to look like a mobile app, kind of makes you feel like a really bored ruler who can't be bothered to deal with his people so you just use an app to manage your entire country, it adds a nice little level of immersion.

The choices are mostly pretty interesting, and seeing the different consequences of your actions is a great reason to replay.

If I had one complaint it would be waiting between events, I'd have loved a "skip time" button to just get right to the next one. I'd be way more inclined to start my next run straight away if I could just speed through a run at the speed of which I can read and click.

Developer(+1)

Oh... Great point! I was too focused on the first playthrough and missed theproblem with waiting tooo much on the second playthrough and later. It was important for the first run to work in this way, because of accelerating nature of the game, where you're starting with a few decisions a year and getting to the point where you just can't keep up with all of them.
I'm thinking about the button that won't skip the time, but just accelerate it a lot. To still keep oroginal experience, but now wait for so long.

Also, you got the idea about mobile app-esque look absolutely right. In thiis  game I'm talking about very difficult subbjects, like war, hunger and etc. And I didn't want it to be a sad game about bad stuff, so  this stylization plays an important role of making it all a bit more fun with jokes about lazy bored ruler and whole corporative culture.

Submitted

It's a cool idea, but unfortunately, due to the infinite money, it gets boring pretty quickly because there is no consequence for spending all of your money.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your comment! But, you missed the whole competative idea. It's a game made for a jam to play and finish the game in 10 minutes. It isn't made to play it for hours upon hours.
And, as I said in the comments earlier. It's a game about ambiguos and controversial decisions. Money won't solve your problems every time. See last coomment branch for on of the examples of it :)
So, don't try t play for numbers in this game, play it for fun and make interesting decisions and not only those that LOOKS optimal.

I like the events well done

This is so cool! I just love the different events... Though I lost because I am too much of a warmonger... :). The visuals are underwhelming, but the music is great. Keep up the good work!

Developer

Underwhelming? Lol
What sort of art style did you expect from game styled as a corporate app? It's minimalistic style in its best. Really don't understand your point.

Thanks anyway

Submitted

I know, it's a great game as it is. I was just saying that I did not rate graphics 5 stars, even though I rated the game as a whole 5.

BTW, I see you really worked on those events... You also included Anti - vaccines! I played this three times, and, in the end, people did not like that I murdered the rebels. I wonder why...

Also, it would seem that when you agree to give the protesters rights, to disagree would cost you the most, and to completely agree would cost you nothing. I think you wanted the opposite.

Developer

First of all, you can rate it however you want, but "not 5 start" isn't equal to underwhelming. I at least wish to see 5 to design, because you are saying that my design decision is led to your lowered graphics score.

Anyway, about costs. It isn't always right to just spend money on everything and hope that your people would like you for that. So. sometimes the cheapes choice is the best (less is more again). This isn't mistake, but ethical idea behind the game.

Submitted

It's so hard to understand people's emotions from their comments... Anyway, I'm sorry if I angered you, You do have 5 stars for design, point is, I love the ethical idea behind the game and I think it goes very well with the theme.

It is so cool the direction you went with the theme! Nice game!
