Good thinking about gameplay and good implementation of the theme.

+ Boss fight are interesting and challenging
+ Lots of stats and good risk/reward system
+ Sounds/Music are very good
- If player buy any upgrade when entered lobby first time, player get stuck
- When you defeat the enemy fisrt time and then bet another fight with them, portal from previous battle stays open and teleport you back to lobby. You dont lose money but you need to configure the stats all over again.
- Wall climb mechanic is little bit junky and feels wrongs.
- There are no any diffucilty options and starting money is pretty low.
- There could be a way to gain money easier/funnier way.

Overall game is good but maybe little bit ambitious. Bugs beside very good game. Well done.

The game feels pretty nice to play. I like the bosses. I love the central mechanic of changing stats to change size of bets to gain currency to fight harder enemies. That part is really clever. I do think there's a major balancing issue though. Decreasing stats enough to make the grind not painful skyrockets the difficulty too much to feel realistically doable. Even somewhat risky bets feel like they still require too much grinding. This game just needs some value tweaking to really shine.

really impressive scale! Maybe less isn't more ;)

Really nice game with the simplistic look. Great work!

Nice game! I liked that you added so many stats to the game and how we can change our strategy. I find the boss fight somewhat difficult so it would be great if you balance that out. Music and SFX are good. Overall, It's a really good game and so much fun to play. Great work!

Please play and review my game if you get time, Thank you!

the game has a really cool and innovative idea, and it's super ambitious, the fact that there are that many stats and bosses in impressive. But that ambition is also what holds back many jam games: the controls need improving(wall sliding and jumping feel awkward and weird), you can get stuck in the lobby if you are out of money & while there is a tutorial on the movement and shooting mechanics, there is none on the stats and money system. The boss fights are cool, an overall great entry that needs a general polish

i think i love this game its awesome
ps:please fix the transition and -1seconds time between bullets glitch

Well mechanic and game  but it a bit too hard for me, and there's no easier mode ;-;
I can't even pass the first boss lol

but it's still fun though.

PS. Gib me easy mode XD

I really like the game! I have never seen any game treat the player stats like this. The only drawback might be that the game is a bit too difficult.

Great game! The character felt good to control and I like the concept of having to lower your stats to make coins, it adds an extra layer of strategy to the game. The boss battles felt a little grindy, especially if you lose to a boss you potentially lose all the progress you made. I think this just requires a little balancing and playtesting. I would also suggest adding a little more platforming into it as well, the tutorial felt a little disconnected from the rest of the game. Overall I think it's a really solid game all around and I had fun playing it! Great work!

It's a little difficult at the start but once you get the hang of it, it is really fun! Nice music too! A very well done game!

Fun game

Smooth and satisfying controls. I enjoys running and jumping around in the beginning of the level. Struggled with wall jumps though - maybe good idea would be to make it easier for a newbie in the beginning. All in all - good little game.

Overall was an interesting game, the stats mechanic was interesting and felt like a tailored difficulty system.  With a bit more variety on them and multiple uses etc. it could be interesting to "guess" what a certain boss will need.  Though currently damage is a bit overpowered.

Some quick feedback tho:

  • The music was nice, though the majority of the games sound to me sounded a little too high pitched, plus the seeming issues with the jump sound.
  • Movement was pretty fluid, other than a few bugs with the wallsliding mechanic.  Though one thing I'd say is the wallsliding mechanic feels a little overpowered, especially with the first boss.
  • Boss design was interesting, though a little lack luster.  The final boss mixed it up a decent amount and if the others had done the same I feel like they would have been more interesting.  Especially the third "Triangle" boss, which since I had auto aim and most of the other upgrades when I faced it felt relatively easy.
  • The "purchasing" of bosses.  First off isn't really explained and it's a little grindy, specifically with the first one, but just overall.  I feel like maybe increasing the difficulty of the later bosses and adding more variety could help. That way rather than gating the bosses behind a "paywall" you could gate them behind difficulty.  Maybe Mega-Man style to try and force a specific route?
  • Feedback was a hard thing to see if it was there, there wasn't much indication of when you had been hit or when you had hit the bosses, other than the health bars changing.
  • UI Placement, this weirded me out a bit, I'm not sure why the placement was changed from the tutorial level, but having it in the middle of the screen was a little weird, and especially with the first boss being the same color as your health it blended in slightly.  So more of a personal recommendation would be to move it to it's original location.
  • Some QOL improvements to the current game I'd suggest would probably be a "restart boss" button to easily replay a boss rather than having to reset the stats and start the boss again.  As well as possibly adding the stat changes you made per boss being saved?  It got a little repetitive having to re allocate stats and such.

This was a pretty polished game in all, the one thing I was hoping for was more content, though it is a jam game and that's generally how it seems to go.  It did end up repetitive a few times so speeding up the pacing would be nice in some instances.  Otherwise though the concept itself seems interesting.

Overall, the game was... good?

- The tutorial was very fun, but the boss fighting part was nothing similar to that. The platforming aspect of this game can be more dragged out.

- If you just want the game to be about boss fights, I would suggest just a difficulty menu where easy mode gives you less coins, and hard mode gives you more. I only suggest this because it was very overwhelming when I first saw the boss menu.

-Lastly, the sound effects when stepping on the shop or boss menu was, frightening? I was incredibly loud, and while wearing headphones, was LOUD!

It was a really good game, with lots a polish and it felt great, but the issues that I stated above are things you should look into.

Developer

will look into it! yeah i didnt do difficulty  because it wouldnt fit the theme at all. and i was actually thinking of making a platformer boss level but it didnt have enough time

Outstanding game with amazing visuals! I really like the core concept and the gameplay was very satisfying (aka it had a lot of "game juice".) Sometimes, giving the player too many options can be overwhelming, so maybe at first only a few options are open to the player and some more are added in over time? (That might just be personal opinion though!) The sound effects were also very good and worked well within the game, as well as the post processing both added to that really "juicy" feel! Overall, amazing game!

I'm not sure if you remember, but I think we were talking about what shape the hearts in the game should be on discord (I'm badwolf lol). It was great to see how your game turned out, and thanks for the feedback on mine too!

Developer

i remember! thanks for being one of the cooler dudes on the discord!

Interesting game! I enjoyed the challenge of learning the boss patterns and how they played out, and the freedom to be able to change statistics for each boss you face.

I did notice an issue where if you reduce jump height on level two, even though you can beat the boss you can actually get stuck unable to reach the exit portal (unless I've missed something!) also your stats only return to normal once you get to the shop after the boss so if you're mega slow you have to drag yourself over to it lol. Maybe the stats of the player can be reset whenever a boss is killed to fix both of these in one?

Either way very good gameplay and a nice take on the theme. Good job on your submission :)

Developer(+1)

good idea! I’ll definitely put it into the after jam version

Nice job on the game. The sound for going over the boss fight dot gave me a heartattack with head phones on! I didn't expect it to be that loud. lol

Developer

ah it’s an issue with button sounds all activating at the same time!

Really cool game, I haven't seen any bossfight games in this gamejam, so cangrats to being original. Also the progression system and choose what you decrease before the match were really good ideas.

It's a cool concept but the boss movements where a little too random to really judge were to jump, at least for me lol, and the sound effect were very overpowering over the background. But still a pretty cool game. Overall I can see myself playing a lot (even if it's only trying to beat the twins lol)

Developer

that’s only the first boss! That was the whole point about them he just picks a random waypoint to go
