very good game, nice to play!! it fits very well the theme of the jam!
I loved the implementation. The game was great. The more powerful the spell, the less easy it is to input it. I didn't like the level 2 spell. Level 1 seemed to be a better option than level 2. The pixel art and sound was great. A little music was needed but not that much important. Thanks for this game. It was a really great entry. It perfectly showed what Globku meant when he was telling about his dream naruto game.
Please take some time to play and rate my game as well. I would really appreciate it!
looks really cool, my only problem is i don't understand how anything works.
what kills what and what is what, like what??
Thanks for the feedback! I had run out of time on my last day to create a tutorial or instructions screen so I put instructions below the game in the itch page. This is definitely something I will put aside more time for in my next jam!
I didn't manage to damage enemies with spells, maybe a bug?
You need to use the correct spell type against the correct enemy type, kind of like rock paper scissors. For example: red hurts green, green hurts blue, blue hurts red.
I ran out of time on my last day to create a tutorial or instructions screen so I put some instructions in the itch page below the game. Next time I will definitely put more time aside for a tutorial or instructions for everything to be more clear. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!
This was a neat artstyle! It took a bit to understand what to do, but once I did I liked it a lot. The UI is a bit `in your face` and covers the middle of the screen. I assume that wasn't intentional and might've been some unity UI shenanigans you were unaware of, but overall was fun
Thanks! It definitely needs a tutorial or an instruction screen. I think I will also try to spend a little more time on UI next time too. I was a bit rushed on the last day of work and was testing mostly in editor and windows application so there may have been some funky stuff when I created the WebGL version. Thanks for the feedback!
i really liked the vibe, the artstyle and the sound effects are a nice touch, however i couldn't figure out what to do, my just won't cast :c
nevermind i figured it out, really nice! :) however, it'd be better if the spells on the screen were in the same order as spells on keyboard, you have lkj instead of jkl. it doesn't seem to change much and is a very easy fix but it's just so confusing like this
Thanks, I'm happy you figured it out! Next time I will create a tutorial or instruction screen to make everything more clear. The key combinations are randomly assigned at the beginning which is why they are out of order. They should be assigned again randomly on start and after death, I may look into it. Thanks for the feedback!
after i played another time and saw that the spells get harder and the point of the game is to get the keys right, i revert what i said xD you did a good job, it's good the way it is
Was pretty fun but the font was hard to read and aiming was difficult :(
BUT IT WAS VERY FUN! :3
Thanks, I'm glad you had fun!
Great game, this is a fun simple game with great art and sound effect.
The game is not very intuitive so a tutorial or at least an instructions popup could be great.
Overall I like this game, good job!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed! I agree, I think a tutorial or some UI with instructions would have helped a lot.
this was a great game! love that i had to type out the text to get a spell, my only issue was that i wish there was a tutorial in the beginning, but overall, i had fun. great job
Thanks! I agree, a tutorial would have definitely helped. Something to keep in mind for next time!
I really liked this game! Such a neat concept! It was like one of those games you play in school for typing class! Really good job!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed!
I liked the mechanic, i do prefer the lvl 1 over lvl2 spells lol
Thanks!
I like how you can upgrade your elements and so on. But may I ask how this relates to the theme? (I might've missed something, I probably did.)
Thanks! No problem, the idea was that you can upgrade your spells to stronger version but at the cost of the spell codes being longer and harder to type. So sometimes having a lower level spell is worth more!
oh it makes sense. Thank you!
Very magikaesk. I found the levelled up spells much less effective, and laughed, thinking, less in this case is truly more.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed!
It's hard to understand what to do at the beginning. But in game, when you know what to do it's fun. One point is the inputs are difficult. Maintaining a direction with space bar activated and write words, it's too much. Perhaps it could have been great to allow the player to write the spell and then press the space bar to release the spell. I don't know... The most important things is I enjoyed playing your game.
Thanks, I'm glad you had fun! I agree with your feedback, you are actually able to type spells before you hit space (see the bottom right hand corner), without a tutorial it isn't very clear though. I think I could have also made the text a little larger to make it more obvious. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!
Gameplay mechanic is very cool! Graphics are pleasant to look. Maybe a tutorial would be nice to introduce game mechanics. Also is it possible to beat the game without upgrading any spell? I didnt quite understand the purpose of upgrading . Because upgrading spells make the game even harder and doesnt give much of a reward. Overall very good game.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed! The idea behind the upgrade mechanic is that higher level spells are stronger, but you have the trade off that they are harder to perform. Technically you can play the whole game with the 1st level spells.
Thanks for your feedback, the game definitely needs some balancing and would really benefit from a tutorial or UI help screen.
Cool idea! Reminds me of Magicka! I enjoyed making spell combos and seeing how the upgrades worked!
Thanks! I realised half way through it felt a little like Magicka too aha
Alright that's pretty cool, though I will have to report slime abuse they are good cute little monsters and you should feel ashamed for hurting them lol jk. But for real I love the concept of stronger spells being longer key codes makes you think if you really need it or learn to spam space
Ahaha thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed! :)
Loved the concept. Totally reminded me of Pokemon type advantage features. Although the controls might need a little refining and throw in some nice soundtrack and you got yourself a pretty solid game.
Thanks, I appreciate it! Making music is something I always push off but should really learn. Something I am going to make myself do for my next project :)
The mechanic of combining keys is really nice and innovative, but the game is too easy and become boring after some time. The art is awesome and the combat feels juicy even if its really slow.
Thanks!. I agree, the game definitely needs some more balancing. I wanted to err on the side of caution and not make the game too difficult. I appreciate the feedback!
Really well thought out mechanic and implemented perfectly. Enemies got stuck on the middle wall but definitely used this to my advantage on the harder levels. Originally I thought I would be mixing elements but got the rock-paper-scissors theme once the first wave started. The "fizzle" effect was a good addition as well.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed!
