The animations for the dancing were great! I really liked the core mechanic and it fit the theme very well! Getting the balance right for the amount of "scent" made for some interesting gameplay dynamics! Maybe the bottle sprites could have had some depth so it matched where it was on the semi-3D looking dance floor. Other than that, this is a great entry!

Developer

Thank you for checking out the game and for the kind words! The dancing animations were the first time I've manually created animations and I was worried people wouldn't like them so it's so nice to hear you say that :D

Very true about the depth/view/perspective. I originally wanted to create a top down game, but finding free assets for a dancing based game  was very difficult so I had to improvise haha.

Cheers for the feedback :)

Interesting take on the theme i love how the stick figures dance :D It was really cool that diffrent people acted diffrently to your fragrance. My only problem is the game is too easy maybe let us perform diffrent dance moves and that moves attract diffrent types of people. My point is you can expand this game. Overall it was fun dancing and scaring people away :D nice work !!!

Developer

Thank you! I created the dancing animations myself and it was my first time really manually creating animations so that's amazing you enjoyed them :D

Thanks for the feedback and for checking out the game :)

Nice unique interpretation of the theme, and the music was certainly popping enough to even get me dancing... haha.

My main struggle with the game was knowing what to do in the beginning, so it could have been cool to perhaps find some way to introduce the ideas of the game. Perhaps a short one-time tutorial that comes up when you first start playing. That said, I did eventually get the hang of it, I just felt it was a little discouraging going into mass negative numbers on my first go.... haha.

Overall nice idea and this idea of getting people to dance with you on the floor could definitely be expanded into a really unique little experience.

Developer

Haha thank you!

For sure, the lack of tutorial was my main concern and definitely something I'm going to give more consideration for each of the games I make moving forward!

I appreciate you taking the time to give the game a go and provide some very useful feedback, thanks! :)

Nice game, it was fun trying to balance the fragrance in order to dance with as much people as possible!

Punk heads were the best

Developer

Haha thank you for playing and the kind words :)

One of the most innovative interpretations of theme I've seen! Was super gratifying to just dash into the middle of a bunch of people and have them all join in dancing with you. Audio and visual assets, while not your own, were well chosen to fit your design intentions.

Only issue I really had was that the balance could probably do with a bit of a tweak. The blue threshold was super low - I'd only grabbed a couple of bottles, and everyone was suddenly sent fleeing.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for checking out the game and providing some really positive feedback! Yeah balance was something that I was unsure of right up to the submission haha, It was a tricky one when I hadn't really played anything like it before let alone made a game like that myself :D

Really glad you enjoyed it though, thanks! :)

Yeah, balance is always a tricky thing, let alone with a game that's pretty unique.

Glad I could help!

Weirdly fun game,  at first I Get all bottles and no one love me    hahahahahaha

Developer

Haha thank you for playing! :)

Very nice concept and pretty good execution. An improvement would be the inclusion of SFX, but as a solo dev game jam game this was extremely well done. (My highscore was 6453)

Developer

Thank you very much! Yeah I had a look around for SFX as one of my last tasks but I couldn't find anything that felt like it would 'fit' without being overly annoying lol. You're definitely right that's an area where improvements could be made though. Great highscore too! Thanks for playing :)

It's really satisfying when you manage to get a bunch of people dancing with you at once, and it feels great when you manage to get more time pickups just before you run out! This game is super cool, especially the music!! My highscore was 6200, I don't really know if that's good or not though :D

Developer

Haha thank you for taking the time to check out my game and for providing some feedback! Really glad you felt like things worked together well and you enjoyed the game. That seems like one of the higher scores too so well done :D

That was great. I had to run and not just maintain the fragrance but also run to take more time while avoiding the excess of bottles. People kept running away. (Just like real life. So Immersive 🥺.) I really liked your game. The art style was simple and clean and the music was good. It was a nightmare when all the hard work of earning score would wash away cuz of more excess fragrance. Thanks for the game.

Please consider playing and rating my game as well. Thanks!!

Developer

Haha aww thank you for playing! Really appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback and I'll most certainly check out your game too.

Cheers :)

After playing more of the game your biggest fear is to accidentally pick up several bottles at once and seeing everyone running away 😂

Developer

Ha! Thank you for checking out the game :D

A fun take on the gamejam theme that improves the simple experience and had me play a few times and think of some strategy for a high score of 5625.

- My favorite part is when you accidentally pick up an extra bottle of fragrance and see the characters run off, a simple but impactful result of your actions thanks to the theme tied into it.
Appreciated the strong character silhouettes that made it easy to start picking up on which had the most tolerance.
I liked that, because of the requirement and balancing act of the fragrance, it gave more variety to your goal beyond simply chasing the time. Sometimes trying to get the time meant trying to dodge a variety of fragrance spawns otherwise it wouldn't even make net positive.

- I think it could be an even better experience with some stronger risk/reward factors at play. For example a groove meter that grew when you danced without moving. As currently you can still grow your score when moving, so it's easier to navigate to the fragrance bottles without as much risk towards the end. This would be even better if you reduced the starting time, while making the spawn time for the clock bonuses consistent and more frequent. Then the pace over the course of the game would fluctuate more, as you balanced your groove bonus and wanted to get the most out of it before moving-risking not reaching a clock in time, thinking if you could dodge too many fragrances on the way to it or it would be worth doing so just for the time bonus, etc.

Thank you for the detailed feedback and for providing some thoughts on how to improve the game! I'm glad you enjoyed it and 5625 is a brilliant score haha. I do like the idea of a groove meter and giving more exciting/interesting feedback to the player, it's an area of the game that could certainly be improved.

Thanks again, I'll be sure to check out your game too :)

No worries :) ! Glad to hear the feedback is valuable.
Was pretty happy with that score :D . Good luck evolving the scoring/gameplay options if you extend it more.

:) , thanks for checking mine out.

Nice game, it's a good idea and a great concept. Watching all the people dance around with you is really fun, and you have to keep moving to get more time for more points. Good job!

Thank you for playing and for the kind words about the game! :)

Very good .. made me smile.
My Tactics: hang around with the gay fella and the punk till the night gets going, then get in the middle of a bunch of women and hope none run off .... sounds like an average Saturday night in the 90's.
A special move would be cool :)

Developer(+1)

Haha! This comment gave me a great laugh, thank you. Good score too! I was really hoping to convey some of that humour as when I thought of the idea I kept chuckling to myself about making it. Thanks a lot for trying it out and taking the time to leave a comment :)

That's probably one of the wackiest interpretation of the theme I've seen lol (and I mean that in a good way :) ). I like that you have different levels of tolerance, it adds the bit of variety the game needs. One thing I would've added is something to reward the player for dancing for a while, maybe like a grooviness meter filling up, or a combo system, anything to make the experience more engaging. Or maybe comments bubble popping over people as they dance / run away from you, that could be fun :)

In any case, it gave me a good chuckle, nice job!

Developer

Haha thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment and that's a great idea, i'd definitely add that if given more time.

My biggest worry was about people understanding how the game works as it's quite an abstract concept to try to present in such a short space of time (for my first game jam no less lol) but i'm really glad to see it made sense and you enjoyed it!

I'll be sure to rate and comment on your game too :)

Loved the game! great idea and nice concept. bit confusing without a tutorial but after figuring it out i loved it!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! I think if I had a bit more time a tutorial is something that I would have added for sure :)

I'll be sure to check out your game too!
