You just scared the crap out of me! Damn! I was like "Hmmm, that's a cute game." Can't believe how wrong I was. Great game :D. Loved the idea and the true ending. Thanks for this game.

Please consider playing and rating my game as well. I would really appreciate it!

its a funny game i sold everything lol cool little game

Submitted

That was funny. I got attacked by a swarm of anime girl cubes. Would have loved more levels. The visual presentation was also really good.

This game was really funny :D I didnt killed the hamster first time without know it was a hamster :<

One of the original games i have seen in this jam. My only complaint is it needs more levels only one level is too short.

Overall loved it great work :D

Fantastic submission! Loved the beats right from the start, the writing was fantastic and the concept was both interesting and fitted the theme perfectly. Probably the most interesting game I've played so far from this jam and it felt really professionally done. I would totally have played through more levels with different clients!

Great job :)

Great! I really liked it, and the art and music are STUNNING! Great job! Though the web version was not working for me, for some reason :(

I really liked the art! The game was really cool! i thought it might just be a text game but then it switched! and before i knew it, i got rid of all cubatrons things... and he wasnt even mad! i ditched the hamster which made me sad to see its heart :[ Really great game!!!!!

Great tongue in cheek writing and world building, complimented by a pleasing colour palette, and a wonderfully chill sound scape. All the pieces fit together to make an amusing and slightly bizarre experience that got me stick around long enough to make several attempts at getting a better score.

The only issue I had is that changing the camera angle doesn't appear to have any sort of gameplay effect. I was hoping to find some more objects hidden behind things, or to spot some sort of additional information to help me. Admittedly, I didn't achieve a 5/5 rating, nor discover the secret ending, so maybe there was, and I just missed it!

Hey, thanks for the feedback and ideas! The camera switch was a last-minute addition because people complained about not being able to delete the mothballs if they fell behind the bed, but I think using the angle switch to reveal hidden unexpected parts is a great idea which I'll definitely look into if I keep working on it!

As for the secret ending, you can achieve it by ditching the hamster (not just the ball, the ball then the hamster), then ditching the anime block after it starts moving around. Once that's done just rate the island and retry the level :) Feel free to give it a go if you feel like it!

Well worth the retry, haha!

This is the funniest game I've seen so far! I love reading every description, and whole concept of the inter-dimensional marie kondo is nuts.

Visuals and sounds are both really good and fit well the mood of the game. There were also a couple of really good animations

I got the secret ending, really creepy!

The entire atomsphere was incredibly chill. I think it would've been cool if the room randomized the placement of the items though. But other than that, good art, good music, good mood, great game! :D

Developer

Hey, thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it! Actually, making the game procedural was an eventual to-do, but it would've taken a long time. So I had to choose between lots of content, but not as much personality, or having one room that's really polished. I do think splitting the objects into blocks and making it so that their positions can be shuffled was a good and achievable inbetween though, a bit bummed I didn't think about that!

The vibe you build is really great; both in the immediate choice of music, the charming sprites and the environment itself. I especially liked finding the "true" ending, which definitely left an impression... haha.

The comedy was also great as it felt really genuine, and had me chuckling.

For me the only thing that marred the experience slightly was the wall of text UI at the start of the level which was a little overwhelming and didn't merge with the aesthetic. Also thought it could have been cool to have some audio for the dialogue between Maro Kondi (lol) and Cubo to flesh out their characters even more.

So impressed with the amount of content, character background and interactions you managed to pack into this level though! It injected so much character.

I can definitely see this being a multi-level experience having to juggle each character's preferences, it would be a joy to play :)

Developer

Thank you for your comment; happy to see people enjoying the overall writing and not minding the fact that Cubotron was made in 5 minutes in paint lol

I hear you on the UI, in my first iteration it wasn't as dense (only the main panel with the main goal), but while looking at people playtesting it I noticed they were confused about / ignored some features, so I kind of added everything that seemed important to highlight on the starting screen. Thinking about it now, it would probably be better to have a tooltip show up in appropriate situations instead (tooltip for when a cubotip first appears, tooltip at the end to let you know you can get a different ending...) but I definitely wouldn't have had the time to do that.

Same goes for the audio, I'm French and while my written English is pretty good I can't bear to hear my accent, so voice acting is out of the question xD I did think about adding a typewriter effect with unique sounds for each character though, which will definitely be a thing if I keep working on that game

Again, thanks for the feedback, do you have anything I can use to chat with you? I noticed you weren't on the BTP discord

It was definitely a joy to play; still chuckling at the idea of it this morning... haha

I definitely get you with the voice acting; I was thinking something like a unique sound (not dialogue) would have been great so it seems we're on the same wavelength. :)

Should be able to find me on the discord now buddy :D

Beautiful art and neat gameplay! I always enjoy going for multiple endings in games. I would definitely play this game if it were expanded as well!

Submitted(+1)

I love this! a great take on the theme, and the writing is witty (though a few typos were noticed!) the art is top notch and the multiple endings is a real nice touch. Definitely something I'd love to see grow into a bigger game with more clients.

Love it! Interesting concept with some funny elements.

Hey this is really nice!

I enjoyed the surreal vibes and relaxing atmosphere and overall it just felt super chill.

It does seem like the visuals could be more cohesive to establish that sense of atmosphere.  In the future having the UI and sprite design match the background graphics a bit more would be nice, but I get the game isn't exactly complete this is really more of a polish thing for later!

What stood out to me was the smoothness of the transitions and animations. Like that whole intro scene leading to the room/island was very cool. Also the value bars are beautifully animated... like wow.

I feel like your implementation of the theme is definitely there, although it isn't the most unique idea, you definitely fleshed it out and implemented it well!

I would have loved to see the dialogue system be more interactive/animated as well. With such a colorful environment the dialogue boxes felt a bit bland and out of place and I feel like I got visually tired of clicking through it.

Ok but story/content wise, I absolutely enjoyed your writing and the humor was very much on point. That secret ending though ...

Thanks for the extensive feedback, especially on the game feel. I get the impression we have a somewhat similar approach to game making, where the gameplay has to stem from an idea / narrative rather than the other way around. I focused way too much on that for my last jam and my game was pretty frustrating to play lol so for this one having a good game flow and feel instead of a potentially interesting idea was a priority (especially considering the base loop, clicking and looking at stuff, isn't especially riveting). Glad to see it paid off :)

It's also cool you brought up the UI because I never had any remarks about it, but I can see how personalizing it has a lot of potential added value.

Do you have anything I can use to reach out to you? Itch doesn't have private messages and I don't think I've seen you on the BTP Discord

Hi! Was really excited to play this game because of the aesthetic of the title card and was surprised to see that it is very similar to the game that my friends and I created for this jam! We had some similar mechanics, but I liked the active response that you gave the player as they played, as well as the 3d art style. Given the similarities of our two games I would love to ask a few questions about how you approached the project!
