Need a Hint? Sticky

I figure some folks might get stuck - and could go for a hint. This might be a universal thread for people to share hints, since you can use the REPLY to reply directly to the person in the thread, so it nests it.

(+1)

Someone please give hints on finding the sockets. I found three on the table...

(+2)

Try moving stuff around.

(+1)

As PJ stated - there might be something on the table to move... a few of them may be under stuff... and may need to click it specifically... rather than the "whole" thing on one...

(+1)

thanks for your help, I was kind of hoping for more detail as I've been moving things around and clicking what's underneath them for about half an hour. I did manage to get the socket out of the clamp though, so that's something.

(+1)

Ok. So a little more. You will need to time it to get to the room across from you (straight across) - and you will need the item from the cart to open the door. Once you stand right in front of that door, the Roombas generally miss (as long as you get as close as you can) before using that item. Inside that room is an item (easy to miss) which will turn them off.

(+1)

I think you replied in the wrong thread but thank you, I was actually coming here to ask this!

(+1)

ah I worked it out... I had to stop touching and start looking... thanks!

For the flooding elevator (sigh, I complained over here) - but I have five bolts. Not sure if I am missing one. But tried all five in Rooter's head on that escape panel and no dialogue, no nothing. Is there more than five bolts before this point to be found? (If yes, don't say where - I will go see if I can find it) - if it's just five bolts - can you describe the bolt to use (how it looks) and where the @#$% you're clicking? :D

(+1)

You are missing one

Thank you. What a pain. That means I need to restore before that and redo the pipes. lol

First dead end I found then.

(+1)

That is incorrect. There is no dead end. The same bolt that opens the hatch in the red corridor is the bolt that opens the elevator.

(+1)

Ah, that might explain it. Because I'd kept playing the same game where the vents magically opened on their own.

https://itch.io/t/908644/vents-magically-opened

So that's good to know at least, that it's not a dead end. Was because I kept playing on a bugged part (I never opened those vents in the red halls).

(+1)

Is the roombots a timing thing or is there a way to actually turn them off?

(+2)

You can turn them off but you have to get past them first.

(+1)

As PCj said - first it's timing - but once you get to the other side - there might be something to remotely help...

(+1)

I'm having trouble getting Rooter out of the bottom of the flooded elevator after climbing out - any hints?

I am going to need to redo something to get to this part... if I find out how to do it before someone else comes in here and posts, I'll let you know.

(+1)

turns out you use his head on his body from the top

I think I am missing something - or I am not piecing together - how to fix the flooded bathroom. Feel free to drop a hint.

(+1)

Walk forwards past all the toilets, something will pop up. Use Rooter's head as a plunger and try to catch it.

Ah, ha! Got it. But now as Rooter, I seem stuck. I am using the thrust to swing - and I figure that's how I detach to land on the platform. But I've tried clicking everything when he swings - both as the head and the walking. Not seeing what to do.

(+1)

You've got the right idea, but it's also about timing.

Ah, so... actually - just got it. Wasn't so much the timing, I guess - as where to put the THRUSTER icon. Because he just jumped off on his own.

(+1)

In the escape pod, square filter in round hole, need to fix the leak. You'd think maybe with duct tape, but no amount of clicking, dragging or swearing at it will get it to work. Have I missed something?

(+2)

I thought so too, but it's not the duct tape. Look around some more. There are a couple more things you need to do.

(+2)

Thanks, got it. It was a foamy solution rather than tapey one.

OK - so I am in the same boat - er - same pod...
I opened all four things below the seat - replaced the filter - got the medkit, used the pills on myself, got the spork knife spoon thing...

But even with Crump's "foamy" remark... I don't see how to make anything foamy to help with what I have. So I am curious if I am missing an item and stuck at a dead end. Or if there's yet something else to find.

(+1)

You have the tools you need. Just need to use them in the scene.

(You may be thinking liquid foam but there are other types of foam)

(+1)

Son of a... so I had the right idea. Just wasn't targeting the right thing. I was facing the other way.

(+1)

Any hints? I can't figure this one out. It took like 50 clicks to open the stupid hatch for the air filter so I might just be missing it.

So - the air filter isn't the only thing. Notice the other seats have the same "storage" slot - one will have nothing - the other three have items.

One of those items is for eating.

And when you eat at a dinner table, you are left to take a seat.

The solution crammed into one long word:

UsEthEsPorKthInGtOCuTuPthEleFtfRonTsEaTaNdItWiLlReVEaLsOmEthInG

Put a strike through to make it harder to read so you don't accidentally get it revealed before trying something.

(+1)

Help ! I've been stuck in the janitor room since first night ... When Rooter sniff the shelf, Ace says it gives an idea, but that's it. Unable to climb the shelf, unable to have Rooter walk past the crate ...

Can someone help me on that ?

Thx

So what you want to do is "talk to Rooter"... this will turn him into a chest you, as Ace, can pick up.
Pick him up, click him on the shelf.

Now go into the radial menu and control Rooter.

I will stop with hints for there and let you explore what happens next or what to try next.

(1 edit) (+1)

Fantastic - I never thought of talking to him !

Reminds me when I was playing Sierra's quests 35 years ago and calling my friend a zillion time for hints !

Thank you for your help : )

Always glad to help! Post in here if you need more hints!

(1 edit) (+1)

I was stuck on this for a good 30 minutes before I gave up and watched a gameplay video of the alpha on YouTube. I knew I needed to pick Rooter up, but every time I used the hand icon on him, Ace would grab his head. Who knew using the talk icon on Rooter would cause Ace to whistle at him, and that whistling at him would cause him to turn into a toolbox. *rolls eyes*

Edit: Toned down rant.

(+1)

Yeah. I am hoping they do something before the actual game, that's kind of a tutorial.

Like where Ace is in his starting ship and something goes wrong. And the Narrator says, "You will need to get Rooter. But as a toolbox. Whistle to him by clicking the talk icon." And doing so changes Rooter. And just general interaction "tips" tutorial. Not even player active - maybe just an opening segment that explains these things. Narrator "Clicking the talk icon on Rooter will allow you to whistle at him and pick him up." Type of stuff. Or just a PDF of the manual that would explain this.

(+1)

Great suggestions! If tweaking the UI is out of the question, these would certainly help.

(+1)

In my game, talking to Rooter in that room only has Ace pick up his head and the headless rooter walks around the room in circles.

Good to know my thinking was on the right track..

Rather than the hand icon use the talk icon.

(+1)

I eventually got it working. The talk icon was telling me we couldn't do it here because we didn't want to wake up the janitor.  Then all of a sudden it didn't do that..

(+1)

How am i supposed to patch up the air filter in the escape pod?  I tried the obvious solution (duct tape) but no joy.  Am I missing something?

(+1)

There are other things in the escape pod that will help you accomplish your task

On an airplane - where are people told to store their items? In the bin above and....?

(+1)

figured that out but only got a spork, first aid kit, and air filter.  Jammed the round air filter in the square hole, but it won't let me duct tape the air gaps

(+1)

We all thought the same thing. This time tape won't fix it.

Someone gave a good hint for this - it's a "foamy" solution - but not the liquid kind.

One of the items you got in the pod needs to be used to get what you need.

(+1)

😊 got it, thanks

(+1)

Got 5 sockets (could not find any other in the janitor room) when I try to unscrew the vent panel in the red corridor. Got a negative message for 4 of them, and no message, but no action either with the 5th one.

Bug ? ... or am I supposed to have 6 at this point ?

(+1)

You should have 6

It's six. So there's one - I will say - in the same area. But there's two items on that screen that you have to use. One reveals the box, the other is the one I missed. I will say sometimes it takes manual labor when the batteries don't work...

(+1)

This puzzle had quite a grip on me.

I am curious if I am as far as I can go.

Can't fix Rooter because of the known bug issue.

I got the golden record, but can't seem to get the record player to play.

I got Mule's keys - but the meteor shower hasn't stopped. (Not sure if there's a trigger to stop this that's accessible yet)

(+1)

Meteor shower stops when you fix Rooter.

(+1)

Well. That's... a problem... because of the disappearing cursor that keeps happening (and it's random) :(

(+1)

Same here... I think I'm dead in the water?  When are we looking for a new build to get past the Rooter Repair sequence?

Yes, I think the Nano scene was one of their primary concerns after all the reports.

(1 edit) (+1)

So I fixed rooter in beta4 but the meteor shower is still happening. I thought there was something I was missing and was just stuck. Just came back to it today and found this thread. I guess I'll reload from before fixing rooter.

Edit: Apparently that save was corrupted. It played the meteor cutscene every time I re-entered the scrapyard. I had another save from when I'd just came down the elevator (instead of coming in from the scrapyard with rooter after the meteorite cutscene) which worked fine (once I'd entered the scrapyard a second time the meotorite showed up).

So it always plays it ONCE. It has to - because there's meteorite pieces to collect. So it's letting you know.

So if you have fixed Rooter - walk out and see it - walk back in - then go right back out. Should be over.

For Rooter in Chapter 2 - where do we get to solder material? I feel like I've clicked everything in the garages and table.

(+1)

Is there anything that looks AU to you in the office?

I will have to look again.

(+1)

Judging by another question you asked you have a golden item already. Maybe if you misuse it with a device that it goes in you could... get some shavings?

I tried to use the "record player" - and can't seem to get that to spin. I figured that's where it might be... but I am missing it.

(+1)

Son of a... OK. Got it. I thought the thing was ABOVE the record. Because you're able to put the record on there. So I thought you just slid it on. Assumed the needle needed to come down.

(+1)

Can you tell me what to do in the supply room with the crates cause I've tried putting rooter on the shelf but it won't work-ace just takes tis head off

(+1)

Whistle/talk to Rooter.

He turns into a Toolbox.

Pick up the toolbox.

Click in the Inventory and click the toolbox there.

Click it on the shelf.

Click the "Phone" icon from the radial menu (next to the Inventory).

Click on Rooter control.

You now have control of Rooter.

(1 edit) (+1)

What do you do when Rooter is beind the crates?

So when Rooter is behind the crates - get him on the floor.

Click the "Rooter Nose" icon that he has available - and click on the thing blocking Ace from getting over there.

Warning - All in one word.
YoUwiLlWaNtToConTroLAcEbEfoReDoInGsOaNdMoVeHiMoUtOfThEwaYofBeInGrUnOvER

Strike through to make it difficult to read so you don't accidentally get spoiled. :) Might be fun to try it and see what happens.

(+1)

ok I 've goten the bolt heads, now what?

You've been in the hall with the cart?

It seems to be blocking a vent.

Maybe move it out of the way?

And and you should have a total of 6 bolts.

One is there with the others.

But a little harder to see/get to without using something that will require some manual labor.

(1 edit) (+1)

True, I've gotten the bolts and am now stuck in the hallway and have moved the cart

Have you looked at the vents? There's bolts to remove.

(+1)

Yeah I've done that, I'm trying ro workout where the bolts go/how to put them in

(1 edit)

So this part is tricky.

You have to grab Rooter's head.

Then when Rooter's head is large in your inventory screen. Move to the bolt you want and click at the bottom of it and hold it (is how I've done it) - until it turns to a bolt (but leaves Rooter's head large) - and drag it on his nose.

Undoing the bolt is a pain - so a thanks to @Oather for explaining it:

Took a while to figure it out. Select rooter's head as big item on left, then drag the little version of his head onto the big version, and the bolt falls right out.

(+1)

That's how you do it? Dang it! Got stuck at the escape pod on one play through and couldn't swap the bit.

(+1)

Now I've got the 6 sockets, am able to use them with rooter but can't find out which is the right one

Look at the vent (stand close to it) and it will zoom in. And give you a better look at the bolt.

Or ... just trial and error if you want to go the long way! :D

(+1)

I have 5 biig bolts and one small bolt so which one is it?

If you stand close to the vent and do the "eye" icon on it - it pops out a picture. You should be able to tell by looking at that and then looking at the bolts as to which one is needed.

(+1)

Nano chip scene.... how do I get Rooters chip out of him to place in the repair scope thing?

Well the Nano Scene requires quite a few things...

You need something at the top... nano... in size...

You need a plug for his brain...

And you will need a form of metal... for the soldering...

If you inserted all three of those... click the view the things on the table (eye on lens).

Once there, click the ZOOM OUT on the left - to get a wider view. You will have three nano bots that have three different jobs. One of them pushes the chips.

For starters ...

Youwillneedtomakesurethatthenumberonthechipmatchesthemotherboard

But be aware the nano scene has a ton of bugs - most noted here - and is "game breaking" in this build (CPU will undoubtedly spike before you finish).

https://itch.io/t/912498/compiled-list-of-bugs-based-on-threads-for-ease-of-tracking-and-prevent-duplicate-threads

(+1)

Pipe puzzle. Completely stuck. How do you move the rusted valve?

(+1)

There's something to grease it up where the janitor sleeps.

This one really fried my brain... ;)

(+1)

lol, thanks guys. Stupid. I went back there 10 times, should have realised.

This took me awhile to figure out as well. Don't feel bad!

(3 edits) (+1)

(Spoilers ahead!)

V3 of the Beta, (microchip scene done, ship built and fuelled) in the Two Guys' dome computer room, Ace is trapped after the Chuck Yegger game (which I skipped after night 1). I'm in control of Rooter but don't seem to be able to do anything to get Ace out. Narrator mentions getting the Two Guys for help, but they're gone when you return to the upper dome area.

(+2)

The objects that clogged the pump are growing around the lake

(+1)

Just curious, when replacing the hose on the ship, do I need to do so before Weldon does his thing, or can I do it after. Hose replaced, still getting the error in the cockpit.

As far as I know, you can do it in any order? I am currently starting all over (since I got stuck with Rooter) - so what order did you do it in? I will try to replicate it.

(+1)

I've tried it in a few different ways. Once the hose is in, nothing happens save for task completion message. I had Weldon do his thing before I ever went inside, sometimes the seat was there, sometimes it wasn't. <In the first attempt I didn't realize I could remove the broken hose, or tape it. Red Greene forgive me. And don't get me started on the ladder. Though that I'll post in bugs. It causes a crash if you mess with it.

I waited until I had the pieces in the hangar before getting Weldon to do anything.  I've got a few saves at different points. My most recent attempt at trouble shooting has everything sealed, crap-a-lytic is installed, and the hose replaced. But the Engine is still reading as non functional on the readout.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something <Did I leave the parking brake on?>, sequence broke something <Retried different orders>, or maybe this is a bug or Gremlin if you will as we're dealing with something that flies.

When you replaced the hose, what happened for you? Engine panel close, or did it stay open?

(+1)

Panel stays open, for sure. Doesn't close till "take off"

(+1)

Alrighty, that's good to know. Think I spent a good 20 or so minutes trying different possible ways of closing the panel initially before posting on here.

(+1)

So I managed , somehow to get the ship completed. Seems I'm at the mercy of Space RNJesus. Scraps appeared on the screen, crapalytic test, fueled ship, good for launch. Except no gas in the tank, then ended up in a never ending animation  of Ace entering and exiting the ship. Going to reload some previous saves and see what I can/ did do differently.

(+1)

The no gas in the ship is correct, that's not a bug. You start with very little gas (so you will need to find gas somewhere).

(+1)

Ok, that's reassuring. Thanks.

How does Rooter save Ace from the Facebox?

(1 edit) (+1)

HINT: do you remember why the facebox screen had a blue screen of death? The cooling system was down due to "something" being clogged in the pump. Rooter should probably figure out a way to re-clog the pump in order to cause the system to over heat again so facebox stops working..

Yeah - see, I got the clue from clicking the computer screen. "Think! What would Ace do! And do the opposite."
My first thought was that pump and clogging it - and I wondered if taking the coconut was a mistake - like Rooter could use his nose thing to pull it back into the floor below. But I had Ace pick it up. I will go back in there and see if I can figure it out. :)

(+1)

Taking the loconut from the hamper won't make a difference. Perhaps there is another way..

Ah ha! So I had the right idea. I wasn't standing in the right place!

(Although it doesn't explain what really happens - he does what he does - and the Facebox thing just ends). Wasn't sure if there should be something that says, "Rooter pulls on (spoiler) which falls into (spoiler), once again, clogging the pump!"

(+1)

Yeah this was a brain scratcher, but once the realization hit... Maybe the Two Guys should 'Dole'd' out for an AIO instead?

(1 edit) (+1)

I'm in the scrapyard and not sure what to do. I can put hoverboard over the poison lake, but then I don't know how to propel it (and there aren't any assholes with other hotherboards nearby :)    Rooter with his rear jet could be helpful, but he won't climb on hoverboard and I don't know how to utilize his thruster otherwise. I tried taking Roouter's head with me, but it is not possible to "lasso" the ladder.

I assume I need a metal rod to use as an oar, or the like, but I can't get that either. I have Rooter's head, but Ace "has no clear shot".

So when you first enter the scrap yard (before you go to the lower area) - there's a ship (or something) whose back end is exposed. Send Rooter in there... and let him... sniff around.

(+1)

I did that before. Maybe I don't understand how that "sniffer" UI works, but nothing unusual happens at all. Nothing gets highlighted, characters don't make any unusual moves or say anything, etc.

(2 edits)

Sorry - not the actual metal sniffing. I meant that figuratively.

Essentially control Rooter - tell him to go into that "back of jet" thing (as I describe it) on the first screen in the scrap yard (to be clear - not where you get Mule, but the next screen - next to the Carbonite George Lucas).

Once you're "there" - get something - then actually use the metal sniffer to get something else.

That said, move Mule down to the next section before doing this (I found this helps preventing the Eternal Mouse Spin when you use Rooter to get something over there).

(1 edit)

There is a spot inside the "back of the jet" thing where Rooter stops and sniffs for a while, but...  that's about it. Once again, no textual warnings, no character saying anything, none of the things in the inventory do anything on that spot.

You have to control Rooter - then click on the back of that jet area. He should jump in.

(1 edit) (+2)

OK, that was ABSOLUTELY unguessable. What I will find up there was quite guessable because Ace mentions something about that earlier if you use "look" action on that spot. But the fact that I need to send Rooter in there... how the hell was I supposed to guess that? That spot is absolutely indistinct, just another spot amongst the piles of trash to the naked eye,

Heh. What's funny is the first play through - I saw that "opening" and it immediately reminded me of the vent (back on Nostradamus) and so the first thing I did was switch to Rooter and click the walk icon there - and in he went. (He also goes in if you use his "nose" icon).

So I didn't even get the chance to think of "Hey, use Rooter's head to try and grab the pipe."

(+2)

I took a bit time for me as well to figure that out. I do hope that is because of how poorly the examine responses are working at the moment and not because they actually forgot to write something a bit more helpful there.  There are spots I've basically brute forced myself through instead of genuinely figuring how to do stuff because of the lack of responses.

There's nothing to show that the spot is interactive at all.

(+1)

How did you get the mule over the poison lake?  No matter where I click, the mule just goes from one side to the other but never goes out over the lake

(1 edit)

You don't use the Mule to get across the lake.

When you first exit Scrap's interior - there's  a few dumpsters.

One of them might have something that may... lift your spirits.

Then, when you get to the first area in the actual junk yard, Rooter may want to check out... openings.

And there, he might find a metallic stick to fetch.

Use what lifted you and the metallic stick to cross the acid water.

Fully disclosed, all run together as one large word with a strike through to prevent easy reading in case you don't want it spoiled:

InTheDumpsterThereIsAHoverBoardThatIsNotEnoughHoweverYouWillNeedRooterInTheNextScreenToGoIntoTheBackOpenVentsOfTheBuriedPlaneThingHeWillThenDigAroundAndBeAbleToReachTheSilverPoleWhichFallsBelowUseTheHoverBoardAndThePoleToCrossTheLake

Note: When you do the Rooter thing mentioned above, I recommend moving Mule down by the crane - I've found leaving Mule on that first area, causes Rooter's "fetch" to result in an endless mouse cursor spin.

See this for a visual for the Rooter thing:

https://itch.io/post/1990770

(+1)

Don't know how I missed that.   Thank you kindly

That's what this thread is for! To help one another! :)

I will add - while you have Rooter where he is fetching - you may want to enable the Booty Sniffer and sniff around.

If you don't have it - Ace has it in the App Store.

Is there a way to trigger whatever worm is on Tatoorakis? Been wandering around the desert?

(+1)

You have to get the needed things through the cheat cube that is floating in the desert.

(+1)

Not sure how to take exit 42-B on the "highway". No matter where I click or how I move my ship, I keep missing it!

Move it all the way to the far left (center) as you can go. If it lines up, sometimes it will begin to beep when you near the exit.

However, if it has a "Construction" sign in front of the exit - then it's bugged.

At which case, you can use my save, that has Ace landed, and one screen to the right (last time I saved right after Ace landed, it locked up the game)

https://itch.io/post/1992834

(1 edit) (+1)

Not sure if I am stuck or if I have found a bug.

I can't take off from Scrap's junk yard to head over to the job at Dominion Estates.  I have completed the following:

  • Brought all the ship pieces back to the junkyard
  • Welded the two engines, cockpit, and fuselage together
  • Filled the crapolytic convert with the three items
  • Used Weldon to install the crapolytic converter
  • Exited the ship and workshop a bunch of times until Weldon and Scraps exit the ship
  • Replaced the hoses

I didn't/couldn't close the engine panel door.

When I sit in the pilot's seat every system seems to light up as damaged. I can't close the hatch on the back of the ship (Ace just says something about it being uneventful).

Am I missing a step?

(1 edit) (+1)

Have you tried setting a course and launching anyway ignoring the open engine panel, rear door and the damage lights?

I'm pretty sure I was at the same point then picked the next destination and launched.

(+1)

Good suggestion, I sort of remember being surprised that I could launch during the last beta version.

I checked and the Navigation button and the Launch button seem to be inaccessible (red/black caution stripe) so I can't seem to launch.

When I check System I get all the lights at the top to blink red, the fuel indicator seems to be blinking red, and one of the engines blinks red (open hatch)? At the least the crapolytic converter is coming up green.

(1 edit) (+1)

Have you tried walking in and out of the ship - ensure that Weldon is done?

Actually I see you mentioned that - so wanna send me the save game? It's the same as my user name just add @gmail.com and I can try to replicate it?

(+1)

Thanks, just sent you an email.

Got it! I will give this a swing today! See if I can figure out why it's happening!!

I think I see what it is - not sure how it happened. When you replace the hoses in your inventory - it should get rid of the bad hoses. Somehow, you still have them - despite the good hoses. (See the screenshot) @guysfromandromeda

Hah - it's definitely bugged. So I used the FUBER app to go to the asteroid and then back - and went back into the ship - and suddenly Scraps is in there mentioning Angie's Fist thing - so I thought, "Oh, should work now?" But nope - ship still shows messed up - undoubtedly because the bad cables are still in the inventory.

(+1)

Good find -- I couldn't remember if those hoses were still supposed to be there or not. Ok, going to try an earlier save and see if that helps.  Maybe I can figure out how to reproduce it.

(+1)

Started over and didn't hit this bug this time around (bad hose ends removed after connecting replacement hoses).

Perfect, so everything should work now.

V4 - Two points I'm currently stuck on, will create two separate posts.

1. On Tatoorakis searching the desert. The ever helpful cheat cube from V3 is now gone. Does this mean we can now find those items the 'proper' way?

I've been combing the desert and using Rooter's app, but I've not been able to find them and trigger the next part.

V3 - Cube:

V4 - No Cube:

(+2)

All the items you need are still on Tatoorakis, you just need to look around a bit.  I also also tried it the with an old same from V3 and found the goggles.

(+1)

Are they in the desert or am I looking in the wrong place? Does the sniffer app help? I tried combing a ton of desert and found nothing. Is this puzzle incredibly tedious or is there something I'm missing?

So in V3 - there was a "floating box" - in V4 - I never got there due to this bug that I was never able to pass: https://itch.io/t/1073045/v4-ace-after-facebox-on-floor-rather-than-seat - so for V4 - I am not sure. But I believe they were around in the desert (maybe the mounds?) - and I think the sniffer helps. But it's been awhile since I read however it was to find it.

(+1)

You need goggles in order to be able to walk the desert. They are near the broken hydrocollector. After that, you need to use the sniffer in order to find the rest.

(1 edit)

Thanks, that one's a real pixel-hunt. I found 6 of the evaporator pieces but I guess I'm still missing one... I double checked the place I found the first 6 so I'm guessing it's somewhere else.

Use the sniffer near hydrocollector

I tried that already. Can you be more specific?

(1 edit)

I randomly clicked with the hand until I found it. After a cutscene I'm now softlocked outside andromecon.

Edit: next time around the sniffer worked normally.

(+3)

The cube was never really supposed to be in the scene. It was something that was used for testing ;)

(+1)

V4 - Two points I'm stuck on, this is number 2.

(By using a save point from V3 I've bypassed the bit I'm stuck on in my previous post).

2. At Andromecon, Rooter continually gets caught by our Quicksilver friend before he can do anything with the elevator or vent.

I've tried defibbing the guy, but that doesn't seem to work and I can't get Rooter to do anything with the conveniently Rooter-sized vent.

I've given Quicksilver the slip. Being quick wasn't enough, using the crowd to your advantage helps.

(+2)

The movement there can be at times a bit finicky, so it took some time to figure out for me as well.

Okay I got him stuck running into a member of the  crowd, was that the hint? Now what? It still seems like there's no way to interact with the elevator/vent and I haven't found any other objects with text.

Immediately after he starts following you, go to the crowd and move in the crowd until you lose him. The whole thing is rather poorly designed, so it might take a couple of tries, but you know when you've done it.

Ok, that was my original strategy. I got it to work eventually, now I'm afraid I'm softlocked in the vent. I can jump up and down but I can't get out.

Another case of missing input from the game. use Rooter's booster

They sort of hint at it - the woman does say Ace is on one of the upper floors.

Ok, so I made it inside the crane, now what? I found an item I want to retrieve but how do I  do that? What's the shimmering/heat-ripple area and why can't I look at it if it's useful?

(1 edit)

So for the crane - you will need to lower it and pick up junk to get it off the ship pieces. Then drag the ship pieces (while on the magnet) to the far right - where you should have left Mule.

The heated area is another meteorite. There's a total of 3 to collect (if memory serves me right).

Okay so followup question, how do I move the MULE? When I click the driver seat it says "Lets take the ol' hover rooter up for a spin. Load up rooter" and then nothing happens.  if I try to pick up rooter I can't put him down and have to leave the scene for him to reappear.

(+1)

Fun fact: if you pick up rooter and then try to exit back towards the ship you end up in a softlock of constantly walking in, rooter glitching out, and then going back out only to reenter and repeat.

So do you have the keys to the Mule yet?
If you fixed Rooter, I assume you do. If not, hint in the form of the run on sentence - GoBackWhereYouFixedRooterAndMoveTheBluePrintOnTheTable.

Once you have the key to Mule, just click the key on Mule. (If memory serves me right).

Thanks, I missed the keys. It would be nice if the dialogue mentioned "I need the keys" instead of just "Lets go"

Need a hint or I have bad luck.

Got to Takakakakwhatever - the desert planet.

Went down - picked up the hydro thing.

Used Rooter - found the piece right next to the Hydro thing (spicket/faucet).

Put that on the hydro thing.

Spotted the goggles and go them.

Went into the desert (goggles on) with Rooter in control with the Booty Detector - ran from one end to the other - then top to bottom then sweeping motion - and never found any of the other pieces.

What am I doing wrong? :D

(+1)

Wish I could help but I'm stuck in the same place and have tried the exact same thing (took me a long time to find the goggles).

Yeah - same with the goggles. I went looking one screen into the desert (east of the hydro thing) thinking they might be there. Went back and was just staring at the screen trying to figure out what to do when I started looking at the skeletons - and thought "Someone went out and got spit out" - and that's when I suddenly saw them. lol

Found it - it's this mound (sort of upper right'ish). Gets the Thumper thing - then the worm comes - then you need the pieces inside. Then thumper your way out.

This is an excercise in frustration - trying to drag the pieces to turn. I am willing to take a hint. I also have what looks like an antena piece that I can't seem to click here. So that piece is in my inventory.

Hold on - I just saw the screenshot here - am I missing yet another piece?

Looks like I am missing a circular piece?

That was it.

If you failed in the worm once, did you have a problem with your mouse cursor vanishing the second time?

I didn't have an issue going back in. However, someone else reported a camera issue.

Now stuck as Ace - after the memory restore. Seems to be no way to exit.

Got past it - looks like it was a bug I hit twice.
