Neat concept! Had a similar idea in the beginning of the jam, but then want for a completely different genre instead. :D I feel like the challenge could ramp up a bit quicker, the first levels are really easy for people with some jump-and-run-experience. Sometimes also the jump did not trigger for me (played under Linux), which of course is annoying in a game with such heavy emphasis on precision and time. Do you plan to develop this project any further? Can easily see this expanded with multiple movement options (double jump, dashing, etc.) and different level layouts. Quite addictive already!

Thank you for the detailed feedback, and thanks for playing my game! :)
Yes, I also had issues with jumping, it's basic is_on_floor() check in Godot.. I'm thinking that maybe I need something more custom for this kind of a game.
I can't promise if I'll continue developing it, but I really like it myself - so maybe I might make a different game with similar mechanics in future. I am watching some platformer design tutorials etc. in background :D

Hey there, I played through your game in this video at 19:00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypCKrzEHw24&t=

Yay! My 1st YT coverage! Nice! Thank you for playing it, and I'm happy that you also enjoyed it! :D You should be able to maximize the game window.. don't know why it didn't work for you, and there are total 30 keys to collect. It was fun watching you play it, and I gained good feedback!

While I didn't get a lot of ratings, I didn't expect that it will be ranked this high, so I'm still proud of this game. :)

It is a cool concept.  Speed run as best as you can~ great design and controls as well.  Good job!  Please check out my game if you have time.  Good day!

Wow, this is a fun game! I really enjoy the ideia to put many key and explore every inch more fast you can to collect all. Fast movement fit the scene perfectly. On various routes I just needed to walk right to collect as many keys as I needed. Nice job!

I really enjoyed playing this. I love how the new collectibles change the difficulty slightly, and make you change the path you take in order to collect them most efficiently.

This is a solid entry and really great use of the "only one" limitation. Your one-screen/ one-level is designed well and has a very clear flow from top left to bottom right. The placement of platforms that restrict backwards movement forces the player to try out different paths in order to collect the keys. Feedback: The game's difficulty curve is maybe a bit too gentle. As a result, it can feel a little repetitive. Consider introducing more keys sooner. Especially if they're in similar positions as previous levels.

and also, thank you for playing our game Impulse and leaving such a wonderful review :)

Thank you for playing, and giving such in-depth feedback!

Cute idea. Plus it was made with Godot!

Cool idea, maybe a bit too repetitive though. Love the feel though, very neat. Also kudos for making a linux build :D

Thank you! Now that I got some fast-paced platformer exp. I'll try to make my next platformer games less repetitive and with more snappy controls. I really liked that this one gave "speed-run" vibes.

I saw your game on stream, looked great - I'll definitely try and rate it!

Nice game ! I love the progressive difficulty on the only one level .

Well done !

Really nice game! I lost a couple of times and a bit of frustration and then I understood! Really cool way to make the player sacrifice!

So much fun, love the stress factor. *I want you to polish this up and sell it to me!*

This is a surprisingly fun platformer!

I lost two times before I finally finished the game and it was pretty satisfying.

The music is minimalist but quite nice (and the art is cute too).

Good job!

Hey, we made a godot game too! Check it out!

Thank you! All the sounds were downloaded from freesound.org and the links are in game page description, if you'd like to use them in your own projects :). Your game looks awesome! I can't wait to get home and try it! Godot is the best engine! :D

Nice work! I really like the one-room aspect of the game. Finding an optimal path to get the most keys for a given run was very satisfying. Playing the same room over and over again helped me improve my route to pick up the most keys per run. Great job!

Developer

Thanks! I'm happy to hear that it helped you develop your platforming skills, thou the jumping responsiveness was not the best!

Very nice, old school feeling game.

Developer

Thanks! This is the 1st time I used Aseprite for drawing pixel art. Glad you liked it!

Jumped to LVL 18 - was fun - well done!

Superb level design. Feels quite addictive.

Developer

Wow, thanks! That means a lot! I tried to make the level so you can just barely make it in 30 sec.

What I like about the level design is the progression. It trained me to become a better player. So I re-tried it a bunch and was surprised at how fast I was going. (The character's speed also added to this feeling of mastery)
