Weird and I mean that in the best way! Very tricky at parts but I felt good overcoming the hardest parts. That's a great sign that you did some things right like making me invested with good gameplay! Great job, shout out to that music too!

Thanks a lot Bee! I always love it whenever somebody gets invested in solving the levels even though the game itself is very hard. Also, thank you for the comment bout the music, Bosca Ceol did not disappoint.

Very cute game, sadly I don't think the intro narration worked for me. It was just a black screen with the option to skip. And if I don't skip, eventually it'll just start the game.

The babies look freaky, but I do like the weirder parts of the internet, and that physics connection was so fun to play with. Great job!

Developer

Thanks a lot! The intro narration should work if you download the game, I mentioned it in the description along with the controls :)

Great game! It's funny that the first idea you can think of around the theme would actually be rather uncommon. Smart use of the join. Poster child for this jam. Bravo!

I love the intro story, pretty funny and nicely narrated.

There's a couple of joined characters by ropes and other materials in this jam, but definitely not by skin. The game is hilariously fun because of that.

I also initially thought of having a game with conjoined twins but decided to change it last moment.

The game mechanic is pretty fun, I like the physics based approach to the puzzles. I'm not sure why but the Q/E extending skin mechanic didn't seem to work for me. I might have not used it correctly.

Congrats on submitting a great game!

Thank you very much for the comment Arya! I'm glad you found the story funny, I was going for that as well as the morbid theme. I'm so mad I didn't explain the controls in a clearer way, you can only extend and de-xtend if you switch to the girl, and I put out a walkthrough if you're stuck at any point :D

P.S: I was afraid some other people might have the same idea as mine, but thankfully nobody else is that weird.

Submitted

Ahh, I didn't realise you can switch to the other character either. Let me give it another playthrough :)

Developer

Fantastic :D

This game is rather weird with the visual aesthetic here...but I can not deny the game play is fun and well planned around the obstacles. I love to see a well-polished chain effect that doesn't randomly break or spaz. Good job on the polish

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'll definitely polish up the game a bit more if I ever do another build.

Cute visuals!!!, but there is an issue is that there isn't a game over condition, otherwise good music!

Will done!

Developer

Thanks a lot :) I didn't set up that condition because you can always press restart and I had to focus on other things

Really interesting concept! I greatly enjoyed the music, good work on that especially. I will admit, I got stuck pretty early on. It would have been helpful to get more detail on the controls on the control screen.

Developer

Thanks a lot LostWoods! I admit the game is pretty difficult and it doesn’t help that I forgot to pu the entire list of controls in the game, I put the rest in the description and made a walkthrough if you’re stuck ;)

Don't forget the shift button xD

I love the mechanic and puzzles of this game. It can be super tricky and challenging at some points. I played the downloadable version, it doesn't has the full control list which made me so confused (damnit, lol). After knowing that I'm able to switch between characters, I like the fact each of them has their own specialty instead of one become a burden to the other. Music kinda fits with the art, The UI is clean. I would love to have a checkpoint or level selection. The game as of it's current build (at least from my experience) will have you restart from the beginning when you access the menu in the middle of playthrough. Other than that, it seems well polished. Good job!

Nice job on the mechanics in the game! Really enjoyed playing this one, very tricky at times but great take on the theme!

Developer

Thanks a lot CroSnake! I'm glad you liked it, I admit the game is too hard at times :P

There's an intro cutscene... in a 48h game... :o

I had lots of fun playing through A Tale of Two Twins! The mechanics work pretty well for the first few levels and are used creatively throughout. I did have to stop et the level in the last screenshot, as it seemed a bit above my skill level. The levels I did play were beautifully illustrated, as well as the intro cutscene I mentioned earlier, and the physics for controlling the two characters were easy to get used to and fun to play around with.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the comment SunCat! I'm glad that you liked the illustration and the physics (I spent most of the game jam time on those). For the levels, I basically said, I have an interesting mechanic here, let me base all my levels around that, and I think it turned out well :) Also, I put out a walkthrough if you're stuck at any part since I got a lot of comments that said the game is too hard.

The cutscene was basically what drove me to make the game, i.e the story behind it :D

Nice job! The skin mechanics between the two characters were interesting to manage and created good platforming levels. The graphics were cool as well and gave the game a unique look. Overall this was a solid entry to the jam and I had fun playing! :)

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the graphics and the game mechanics :D

Wow, that was... weird. Swinging and stretching mechanics are hard to grasp. Don't really understand how the girl's power works either. Could use some tutorial levels, but the ones I was able to complete were pretty fun!

Developer

I agree with you completely, that's why reading the controls in the description, in the game and watching the walkthrough is a must.

really cool, good job!

Very cool, I like it! Good job!

Very nice game! I like the character designs, very funny! Also the mechanics work well with the theme. The swinging around can be tricky at first, but once you got the momentum down, it becomes easier. Good job!

Submitted

Very unique mechanic , game offers you very much !

Submitted

Really interesting concept! I found the way it was themed a bit disturbing, but loved the physics platforming! I found it a bit too "physicsy" at parts, with things giving kind of random amounts of speed. It'd be nice if it were more consistent. As well, the twin above sliding while the twin below was swinging was annoying.

Really unique spin on the theme and mechanics! I've seen other games use similar mechanics, but the theme and art style really makes this one stand apart! The jankiness of the game adds to its appeal, in my opinion! I believe I finished the game. Is there a way to have both twins survive the detachment chamber, or does one HAVE to die to win the game? I am just curious lol. Great job on the game! The latter levels were difficult to figure out, but once I realized the importance of the pill in the level, that made the game click lol. I couldn't figure out if I needed to get the pill first or the buttons first, but now I see that the pill gives them the ability to stretch further lol. Great job!

I'll always remember this one as the game that I played wrong.

As I mentioned in discord, I figured out a couple levels in that you could leapfrog your sister, and then she'd swing around and you could use her momentum to make sick jumps. If she was swinging fast enough, you could get a wall between you and her and abuse that for other big jumps. I didn't even realize you could switch to your sister and extend/retract until I almost beat the game this way. And, to be honest, it was a lot of fun! I hope to see some use of this "mechanic" in future updates, with lots of tutorials obviously.

GG!

I wasn't able to get past the third level, it was a bit unclear and when I tried to swing one baby underneath the other to hit the red button it never seemed to be willing to go that far. Still, the concept of the game and the use of the momentum between the two was unique and had a lot of potential, I'm sad I couldn't have seen more of the puzzle design. The screenshots look awesome! Good job.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I admit the introduction for the game mechanics wasn't the best so I mainly relied on the players' intuition...

Submitted

Which wasn't a bad thing! I watched the playthrough, and clearly I'd gotten close to the right idea (I just used the wrong baby, or didn't have the swing fully set up). A lot of clever puzzle design, I'm sure the player's intuition will return to the player in future versions of the game.
