Theme interpretation
A girl named Ranger has lost her spaceship. You get one shot to get her back home to the moon before her oxygen runs out.

Gameplay: Simple gameplay that worked very well. I would have liked if you could use r to restart when you died. The generated level was nice too.
Graphics: The graphics were good. A few more animations maybe bounces for the platforms could help.
Audio: The music was nice, it was cool that you had death music. SFX like death and bounce (for both the blue and yellow platforms) would be nice.
Innovation: Pretty good.
Theme: A girl named Ranger has lost her spaceship. You get one shot to get her back home to the moon before her oxygen runs out..
Overall: Good game, especially for your first jam.
Can you try (and review) my game?
Very cute art style, I had fun with this and managed to get Ranger home. Music was nice as well!
Great submission, congrats on your first jam!
If you wanna work on a post jam version, I think you could add more sprites for the character (for falling, jumping, jumping at high speed, dead, etc). Also, the distance to the Moon on screen could be great to have a sense of progression. Finally, I'm not sure but maybe the background could get improved by using some layers and parallax.
Once again: good job! Keep motivated and working!
It reminded me of sonic jump :-)
The graphics and sound were good, but you should spice it up a bit with some polishing and animations: check the "juice it or lose it" video for some inspiration
Nice game, liked the character design and the simple mechanics, music and gameplay are great too. Nice work!
Great remake from Doodle Jump hehehe, I miss thing like monster that complicate your journey, and a way to get more oxygen.
Furthermore, be careful because some special platforms are overlapping with normal ones.
But if you continue improve it could be a great and addictive game :D
PS: Fabulous music!
Cute character and awesome soundtrack! Wasn't able to get Ranger home but had a lot of fun trying. The game is hard haha.
Would love to see some jump animations on Ranger, would really add to the overall visuals. Same for the jump pads too, they could have a squash animation. You could also add a special sound effect for getting the boost pads, would make players feel extra good about getting those jumps.
This would be perfect for a mobile game! Hope you make a port for mobile :)
Very nice "jumper" game. Very nice visuals/audio! Excellent controls.
I manage to get at 701 distance. Was I close to getting her back home?
A few air bubbles to replenish some oxygen will definitively would have been a great addition (maybe in a small post-jam update) but all game jammers quickly learn that we have to cut features in order to meet the jam deadline ;-)
It's funny, that I also started learning Unity in July this year and this was my first game Jam too. In the beginning I thought, this will get boring soon, but it really did not. Always a small challenge to hit the blue platforms. A bit of animation would make the flow of this game even better. I had so much fun playing this.
I really liked this game. Probably the most purely fun game I've played on this jam so far. It isn't necessarily the most innovative, but goes to show that doing something elegantly and well means more than doing something ambitious poorly. So congrats on that.
Also, your UI and user friendliness is sooooo much better than anything I've seen thus far. That was such a big strength.
Though simple, the gameplay was engaging and fun. My one complaint was that there was no in-game UI for my current height or high score (unless I missed something obvious), so I couldn't see how I compared. I think it would help replay to add a little tension for the player to know when they are close/how close they are to improving on their last run.
And maybe a nitpick. There were some instances where the blue booster pads were almost on top of the pink ones, but I was blocked from accessing them. Consider adding some code to prevent an overlap of pads.
Overall, excellent game and great design on all fronts. I really enjoyed it.
