Really cool experience and nice art! I love how such simple mechanics fit perfectly and allows you to plan your turn.

I’ve beaten quite easily the level, I wish the game would have more levels or some difficulty progression.

Good game overall! Well done!

Thanks for playing our game and for your feedback!
Seriously the god of dice must favor you! Even a couple of  bad "rolls" (both alien spawning & site destruction are rolls in the jam version)
can really escalate to an unwinnable situation if you just go for the sites without clean up the map.
The post jam version (the jam version was made very very late in the jam)  has a more infiltration like site attack. You have to acquire a certain number of exploration "points" in order to destroy each site so you really cannot afford to let the aliens go wild ;-)
A last minute idea (mostly abandoned due to no time) was for the story to be a prequel story to another jam game of mine!
That the reason for the ending text (the only thing left in the game)! You aren't done with the aliens!!
The game page description will be updated after voting ends for this!

That sounds great! Thanks for the explanation! :)

Very distinctive visual style.  And a turn-based strategy game definitely stands out in this game jam.  I can't say I won, but enjoyed making several attempts.  Nice work.

If you like platformers, you might like to try our game.

Developer

Thank you for trying our game!
While we love platformers and other action games, we wanted to try something different.
We are happy to see that people enjoyed our game!

Nice little strategy game, had some fun thinking different strategies of wining fast, the graphics work well and sound is fitting, also the ending is a nice touch. Nice to see more Godot games everywhere! Good job!

Developer

Thanks you for trying our game!
Godot forever! ;-)

Thank you!
Since the game was a last minute entry in the jam (it was made a couple of days before the deadline)
the message box was good enough at the time but definitively need a visual update!
Added to the list of post jam updates!

Beautiful, This tells me how simple a game can be. Art work was as minimalistic as possible and  Sounds were good. A little attack or some kind of effect would have been better rather than aliens getting disappeared directly. Good work and well executed

Developer

Thank you!
Sometime really less is more ;-)
Glad to know that people enjoyed our game!

Really cute idea, was not sold on it at first but as I started playing it somehow got really engaging!

Developer

Thanks for trying our game!
We knew that our game is a little different (gameplay wise) than the usual strategy game (and even those aren't common in jams).
Still we though that the boardgame like gameplay could be quite engaging provided the player could understand the mechanics.
Glad to see that players enjoyed the experience!

Short and fun little adventure. I really how you took such a simple concept but added a story to it (good ending too!) and got the player invested in the outcome. Little things like that add so much to the experience.

The actual gameplay mechanic was a bit simple and the random chance for destroying the alien base confused me at first. I thought I needed some equipment/skill to do it so I left that base and did the other ones first and then realized its just random chance. Maybe the equipment/skill idea will be an option to explore.

Visuals and sound design was good. Simple but effective! Good work :)

Developer

Thanks for playing our game!
A nice story on top of game mechanics and an ending is something that I personally really want to add in all my games (as the designer/programmer of the team). Glad you like it!
Sorry about the confusing part on the infiltration of an alien site. In the original design there were more steps to do it with far less chance (+skills/items that would affected the outcome). As always, in jam games, we run out of time and replaced the system with a simple dice roll.

Interesting idea with a nice aesthetic - I don’t normally fair well with strategy games but this was simple enough for me to grasp without too much difficulty :)

Developer

Thanks for playing our game!
Glad to see people are understanding the rules of our game.
Strategy games can be a little problematic in this unlike for example action games or platformers.

It is rare to see a chess like game in this Game Jam. That is a cool thing to do and be different from all other entries.

The game might be a bit simple and not very replayable in my opinion. However, there is a lot of potential behind it if there is a bigger map, different enemy types, and also pick up weapons to destroy their structure instead of a random chance (could be frustrated).

But overall I liked it very much.

Thanks you for trying game!
We love to make games like aren't the usual action, platform, puzzle game that are common in jams.
As always with jam games all your suggestions were in the original design (except maybe the larger map - spending most of your actions to move around the map  can easily become very tiring).
And the were cutted by the merciless god of 'Not enough time' ;-)
Still some of those ideas will probably be part of a post jam update (in addition of the usual UI/controls clean up, additional exports).

Nice graphics and concept!

Thanks you!

Really cool!

Aliens are nice they dont attack you right away ;)

Developer

Thanks!
Actually they don't attack you at all. You are in the same region/area and not on the same exact location.
But the attack your ship defenses (if the are more than 3) destroy it and making you lose the game ;-)

good game i found it to be fun

maybe spice it up a little with more alive graphics

Developer

Thanks for playing our game!
We will do our best to spice up the visual part of the game along with the mechanics in the post jam update.

Unique idea, and has a nice art style!

Maybe could add some kind of resource gathering to make your attacks stronger e.g. you could clear multiple aliens or higher chance of breaking buildings?

Overall it was fun to play!

Developer

Thanks for trying our game and the suggestions!
Maybe a post jam version is in order... (after the voting ends of course)

Very unique at style, stands out in comparison to a lot of games. I like the approach you guys took, reminds me a bit of a board game but it took me a while to get a hang of the game. Nice job!

Developer

Thanks you for trying our game!
True, the game is inspired by boardgames. Did you manage to beat it?
The game can be quite hard if you try to go directly for the alien structures instead of taking a balanced approach between attacking the alien structures and shooting the aliens.
