thanks Dan πŸ‘β€

woow it's all so fast and you have to move so much but the boss covers half the screen xD that feels unfair, maybe he lacked a couple of extra attack patterns

I liked how you can play both as the ship and as the boss. sound was a bit loud got wrecked. And wrecked again and again XD

and is it your art ??

The art is very great.

Developer(+1)

Hey BadDevVarun thanks for check out my game. Yes all the art is my own, sorry you had a tough time with it :) I have a devlog on how I made it on my itch page.

Wow. I played as the hero first and got wrecked. And wrecked again and again. But I stuck to the edges of the boss' outline and was relatively safe while sneaking in shots. It felt great to beat him, and as the boss I sort of steamrolled the hero (incredibly elegant solution to implement the boss attacks with a cooldown so they weren't too OP) and thought I would make short work of him, but then when I realized I had to take down all three lives ... what a great surprise. It's one of those moments that makes you lean forward and get into gamer mode.

The 1-bit pixel art is incredible and the sound selection is great, even if the mixing needs some adjustment. It was the perfect length for a jam game and a really enjoyable experience. My only concern would be that the fight as the hero is a little too difficult for somebody jumping in and not ready to repeatedly try to overcome the challenge. Even if the boss speed was reduced slightly, or the attacks had a stronger telegraph, it would feel a little more fair as a player. I beat it, but I almost felt like I was exploiting the game by crouching in the corner and stabbing in at Shadow Link in the Zelda II.

Overall, an incredible solo dev entry and great experience. And I appreciate how much you've been giving back to the community on your Twitter and YouTube. Thanks for sharing.

Rly nice =)

As others said some of the sounds are too loud.

Submitted

Really fun to play! The visuals are amazing and the sound effects are very fitting, a bit loud compared to music though :P I liked the boss gameplay a bit more than the player's. Maybe because the boss' projectiles were tad too hard to dodge. Still, I had loads of fun with this one!

I struggled to beat the boss, probably because he is OP. Then i played as the boss and the player is probably OP too πŸ˜…

That was fun, good job on your submission !

Developer

haha nice. Sorry you couldn't beat it..they are both very beatable but you have to figure out how 😁

Submitted(+1)

I did beam them both,i just struggled ^^

Developer

oh cool. Well done πŸ‘ŠπŸ‘

The game was tough, but fair. Actually laughed when the player respawned because of course, they had extra lives.

Liked how both sides were playable and felt balanced but different. You must have spent a lot of time on this. You made not one but two games.

Developer

thanks, yeah I literally made 2 games lol πŸ˜† thanks for playing.

fun game i like that you can play both the characters fun game but a little bit hard

Developer(+1)

thanks for playing. Sorry you found it hard.

Submitted(+1)

Great game! Covered both themes well, and the gameplay/design was top notch!

Only issue I found was I had to play it a few times to learn the skills (perhaps a tooltip or similar to explain what they do?)

Developer

thanks for the feedback. Yeah I agree with that, I didn't have time to implement a tutorial :(

Very cool Xander!

The incorporation of the themes was perfect. I got super nervous being on the edge (especially how it sucks you in a bit) whilst tackling the boss. I enjoyed the various attack phases of the boss and it was super cool being able to play both sides.

My feedback is to ease the attacks of the boss right at the start of the game, as a new player that threw me a bit. Also, perhaps an audio cue for when the ship is low on health. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Ah audio cue for low health would have been perfect, can't believe I left that out!! Thanks for the feedback Sid Fish :)

Excellent game!

I preferred the boss side of the game - strategising around cooldowns, and keeping an eye on the surprisingly good ship AI!

It did take me a couple of failed runs as the boss to spot the invisibility/health skills on the right, but once I noticed them it became a lot easier. Well balanced on the boss side, though I did terribly as the good guy!

I love the music, and the 1-bit style! It looks fantastic. I really enjoyed watching your behind the scenes video as well :)

Great game Xander! I especially enjoyed playing as the boss, it felt extra powerful and fun! Excellent graphics and audio, really felt like an old arcade!
PS, would appreciate if you could review my work, hopefully on video to know what's up :D

Submitted

hey! there you are :) really nice game, good job!

can't beat either mode tho >:( must keep playing

Graphics, sound design and overall polish are excellent. The only critique I have is that I didn't have a clear sense of what was happening or what I could do at a given time, especially in "evil defeats good" mode.

But nevertheless, the game had a very polished feel. Very, very nice.

enjoyed playing! cool concept fighting from different perspectives ( the hero vs the boss) , nice graphics and simple straightforward controls, overall great game! keep it up!

Cool game, the asethetic is gorgeous. Took some time to understand what was happening with the boss controlls. But it was a cool implementation when I figured it out. Short and to the point too.

Developer(+1)

thanks bud, I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for playing, I'll check your game out too :)

Submitted(+1)

Would be greatly appreciated if you did! Good luck for the rest of the Jam too.

Nice and fun game! I love the different playstyle for the player and the boss. The graphics and visuals have a nice simplistic vibe. Please play and rate my game as well!

Submitted(+1)

Nice job as always Xander! It’s surprisingly fun (and much easier) to play as the boss. I love how the way the two play is entirely different. It seems like this would be ripe for a 2 player mode with the two facing off against each other, though it might be harder in that case as the boss. The good guy seems so much weaker than the boss which can make it tough to beat the game on good mode but not impossible.

Art, sound effects are music are on point as is to be expected from your games. Excellent work!

Developer(+1)

wow what amazing feedback. Thanks my man I appreciate that. 2 player mode would be interesting. I may actually add that as an option.
