The game has a fun personality to it. Props :D

This game put a smile on my face :) I love the sequence that happens when you climb up the ladder - how the robot freezes comically, and how you overthrow it using the exact same mechanic you've been using for the main game. There's something I legitimately find special about it. Fun how the difficulties just adjust the ladder height, haha. The graphics are well done for being 1-bit - I can clearly tell what things are and can differentiate things from each other - I didn't even consciously note the game was in 1-bit color. The intro cutscene made me smile too. Lots of charm in such a small game. Gameplay was fun - I like planning out my stack while also dodging boxes, and the exploding boxes. I do wish there was more to it though - I wanted to keep playing! Maybe a harder difficulty, or different levels in some way. I realize there's just limited time in a game jam though.

Thank you for such a positive and descriptive review.  We put a lot of effort into this game and it's always nice to get a notice from someone who notices all the finer details and aspects of the game.  Were really glad you enjoyed playing it and hope you come back to play an updated version after the Game Jam.  We are currently working on an expansion that should add some more difficulty and fun to it. We appreciate your support in this game and hopefully more to come 😄

I like the single color palette
Theme was a fun choice
This is pretty hard
I had some laughs with this one nice work
Wish controls were more precise tho

Loving this gameover screens

Developer(+1)

Hey thank you so much I'm glad you enjoyed it.  The game over screens were my favorite too 🤣

Submitted(+2)

Loved the one bit color scheme. You managed to get a lot of detail out of it. I do wish the pick up key was something different though, I kept pressing down and picked up crates when I wanted to walk down some crates. But that is really just nit picking.

Developer(+2)

I totally get what you mean, the idea was for a single handed playing experience but I think more options for controls would have been better.  Appreciate the feedback and thanks for coming by to play!

This was a lot of fun, simple to understand gameplay but, challenging and interesting.  Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, were glad you enjoyed it!

Really nice! the controls were a bit clunky but nice idea and well executed, the sound and intro cutscene are great too.

Developer(+2)

alAhh yeah! Thank you for playing! We've gotten some 50/50 comments on the controls so I totally get where you're coming from. Glad you enjoyed it

I really like the core idea - shame that even the “hard” difficulty is really short. Still, I had fun with the game, and it could definitely be expanded upon to make a fun arcade-style game (especially with that music - I’m impressed that you made that yourself, it’s pretty good and works well for this game).

Also I see you went for the diversifier world record. However, I’m not sure this falls under shapely - I think that’s more “everything is literally just a single shape” than “everything is simple enough to work with only one color”

Developer(+2)

Lol yeah we weren't trying to use all the diversifiers when we started but saw that some of them fit, shapely is "everything is a simple shape" which I agree may be a little grey line for this but most of it is a simple shape.

Aso thank you so much for the feedback.  Glad you enjoyed the game and the music! With the time we had we definitely wanted to do more with levels but of course ran out of time and figured the different ladder heights would add a nice challenge.  More modes and levels in the version to come. Thank you again and good luck in the Jam my friend

GG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much!

Really fun game. Both easy and hard were very easy, but that might be because I'm just a pro gamer.

Love how much you guys managed to tell with only black and yellow colors.

It was pretty fun!

Developer(+1)

Heck yeah! We're going to have to put in a "Mega Hard" mode for you pro gamers. Stack 100 boxes to the top! Appreciate the good feedback and time you took to play our game

A very well executed concept! I thought it was going to be inverse Donkey Kong, but it wasn't that at all...

The opening cutscene was very well done. Most amusing.

There were a few times when I picked up a box which I thought had landed, and got squashed anyway, but otherwise the gameplay was very tight.

I like the black and yellow colour scheme. The whole aesthetic is very appealing.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for taking the time to play it!  There were a few minor glitches that we weren't able to re create every time but definitely something well look into, and thank you for noticing the finer details. Appreciate the solid feedback 😎

Submitted(+2)

Love the feel of the game - the little storytelling at the beginning and the 1-bit palette works great! It's super polished - love the little "crushed by the box" graphic , and really appreciated the 3 difficulty modes. It's simple yet so well executed - congrats!

Developer(+1)

Hey thank you so much for playing!  After playing so many games I appreciate those who notice the finer details to the game.

I like the feel and concept, I think it can be expanded into a nice mobile game and maybe add special boxes that grant me power ups: slow down robots, recover lives, etc.
I had a lot of fun with it.

Developer(+1)

Ah i really like those ideas!  Were definitely working on a mobile version with some updates to it so ill have to pitch that to the team!  Thank you for the comment and for playing our game!

Submitted(+2)

I loved the retro style and the graphics. The gameplay is simple but a lot of fun, good job!

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much!  glad you enjoyed the game!  we had a fun time making it and appreciate the good marks from a fellow construct3r

This is clearly a labor of love project. I could feel the heart that went into each little piece of the game. It is also a perfect jam game. It's not over-scoped. It's polished as heck, and it's a blast to jump right into and play. The art and animation is deceptively simple. It's really difficult to pull off one bit pixel art with this much character, charm and detail. You all didn't have to make the straw in the coffee mug dance, but you did and I love it! You also give clear telegraphs to the player so there's plenty of time to react and plan ahead. And to have three difficulty options so it's accessible for all players. Well done.

I dug the world-building and setting the scenario with the opening cutscene.  Stupid H@CK3RZ! The fact that your team did all of this with that many diversifiers makes it even more impressive.

I wish I could provide some constructive criticism. My only pitch is another level or two perhaps, with some sort of alteration or new mechanic, because I knew I wanted some more!

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much for such a great comment on our game!  We all really appreciate you taking the time to play it and for paying so much close attention to the details we put into it.  Hopefully that song doesnt get stuck in your head!  I hope we can get a new and updated version of this game (V2) with more modes and levels.

I personally thought you guys did a great job on Chonky Bam and i appreciate the comment even more after viewing such a solid game from you as well.. thank you so much for playing and thank you for the good game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, we're glad you enjoyed it!

Fun game.. I hope grab and drop button cloud be like E or something...

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed playing it! The idea was for one hand to play but I totally understand were you're coming from.  An updated version will prob include more room for control

Submitted(+2)

Nice quick little game. I liked all the diversifiers you used. My only feedback would be to make the player controls feel a little tighter and less slippery. That may enable things to get a bit more chaotic too with boxes falling more frequently. The addition of exploding boxes was a nice surprise.

Good job!

Developer(+1)

Hey thank you so much for playing and we really appreciate the feedback!  As this was our first game we kind of overlooked the slippery controls but we also think that adds to the challenge, an updated version will probably tighten those controls up as we've heard that a lot. Thank you!
