Did you work in a team?
I started out alone but at the end of the jam, @VavMusicMagic offered to contribute music and sound effects which really elevated my motivation as well as the end result.

Was the resolution a challenge?
Done a lot of 64x64 before so no surprises, but I generally try to keep UI to a minimum and focus on simple core mechanics as much as possible.

What did you learn?
I've never done a metroidvania before so that was fun! Also, I usually have almost no story in my games but this time I tried to add a little backstory that the player can learn as they progress.

I really enjoyed this game! The number of awesome things you managed to include makes it feel fully developed, and I loved the story. Job very well done! (I hope there will be a sequel :)

This is one beautiful game. It looks great and it plays well too. The platforming mechanics are smooth and the games progression is a classic gradient that unlocks the game as you play. And I love the way you handled any text/UI stuff. Super well done!

A lovingly crafted and very cute Metroidvania excursion. The tile set is vibrant and every animation conveys so much motion. Really well done.

A very well made game, everything just fits so nicely together. I especially enjoyed the animations and particle effects.

I mean this was masterful in every way.

I loved this, not just as a jam game, but just as a game.

I hope to one day be able to create something as beautiful and well done as this - thank you for the incredible experience playing your game :D

Awesome game, didn't think one could make a metroidvania as polished as this in such a short timeframe. It even has a story and dialog :O Good job!

Thanks a bunch. I'm very happy that everything came together at the end :)

very polished and thought out. :)

You are a master at 64x64. Perfect execution. Really enjoyable game to play and wanting to keep playing.

Developer

Thank you so much. Glad it kept you entertained!

This was a really awesome game! The art and music were both great. I had a really good time exploring the world. Good job!

Wow what a polished metroidvania. Very cool. I did get stuck right on the last section with the space and glass cubes.

Looks great, sounds great, plays great. Has a really nice progression with the right amount of backtracking to use abilities you pick up. Really nice entry.

Developer

Thanks! Happy to hear you liked it!

Got some strong Little Nemo: The Dream Master vibes from this.  Well done!

Wow, this is brilliant.  Everything feels so well thought out / executed.  The areas were distinct and nothing felt same-y.  As soon as "my arms felt stronger," I knew I was in for an exciting ride.  I completely forgot the constraints, as the visuals work so well.  Sheesh, great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! Happy to hear it came together so well

I think you nailed it with this one, i would just like the upgrades where able to be use outside of their thing, the only one that does that is the fast fall

Submitted

The upgrades apply to multiple situations and the double jump is a fast fall. I love it when games break expectations. Fantastic game.

Developer

Glad you liked it. Thanks!

Really beautiful/thematic environment.

The narrative elements kept me wanting to play (which is awesome).

The platforming/terrain traversal was compelling too. In so much that I felt that the enemies and other ways of dying took away from that primary goal of piecing together an expansive space 64x64 pixels at a time.

Developer

Thanks!
Interesting point about the dangers. I think my main concern would have been that the challenge would have become too one sided without them

I loved the environment

This had really good music.

Developer(+1)

Agreed! I didn't know if I would be able to have any, but Vav offered to contribute music and I'm so happy they did!

Submitted

Beautiful! A pleasure to play through. Took me a while to get past the last leg but I figured out the jump! Super well done, A+

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I've got a handful of comments about the long jumps in the game, probably need to adjust post-jam. :D

Submitted

Nah it was a bit intellectual stimulation haha, I don't mind it

10/10 as expected from your entries Johan, Vav’s music is superb and fits the game perfectly. Some of the clues to the upgrades/powers are a bit cryptic. The jump control was a bit confusing… was expecting a dash or better mid-jump and it is basically a stomp so you can boost your jump on the mushrooms. Anyway a perfect entry… need to finish it yet, but I want to get started with more voting

Developer

Thanks Carlos! It was great fun following the progress of our games side by side. Thanks for good conversation.
I've had a handful of comments about the controls so probably need to make a small revisit post-jam.

Submitted

It’s pretty nice and polished. I’m not sure how the dash works tho, when i dash mid air, i just go downward. I thought I use it to jump through big gaps. I hope my progression is saved, so i can try again later :p

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Z bombs downward and X dashes forward. I didn't have so much space in the game to elaborate on that. :o Try again, it's rather short :D
