Did you work in a team?
Solo.

Was the resolution a challenge?
Enemies couldn't be too fast-moving because of the small amount of screen space, and I had to add an indicator to give the player a chance to prepare.

Also, the enemy ships start with a weapon cooldown so they shouldn't fire immediately after appearing on screen.

What did you learn?
I learned a lot about controlling the scope and keeping the planned features minimal.

I'll admit I'm a sucker for old-school shmups despite my reflexes being horrible.  This one was fun.  I like the use of indicators showing where the enemies were to appear to help alleviate the limited resolution.  Great job.  Only improvement I can possibly see is leveling out the sound volume on the SFX vs the music and maybe making the player ship a little more nimble.

Great game, my score was just below 300 when I died but I never saw my final score cos I died on the mother ship ToT I think I know the strat to beat it though, if you let all the drones out so you only destroy the middle I think you could do it? ^^ I agree when jorio, the ship is just that bit slightly too slow, where at times I felt I had to guess, rather than rely on my reactions. Really fun game! :)

A well-rounded entry, congrats! Perhaps my biggest qualm is the overpowering shooting sound effect which covers up the (amazing!) BGM. The download size was a bit of a pain; Electron doesn't feel like a good pick for a small scale game. Overall good job, keep it up!

very nice shmup, it was a good game to play with. The sound of the shots was a bit too much for me, and there wasnt any incentice to not just press space to shoot all the time. Nice little game overall.

Cool little space shmup! If I may suggest something – I think the momentum of the ship could be tweaked a little (I had some difficulty reacting to enemy movements/bullets). Good job for making a variety of enemies and bosses!

Thanks for playing and for your feedback!  I think the movement could be adjusted easily, I have player speed, velocity  x/y and max velocity x/y variables that can be tweaked.  Are you thinking it needs a little more acceleration speed so you can react more quickly?

This is one challenge I found from the 64x64 size: how fast should the player object move so that it doesn't zip across the screen.  If this wasn't a game jam entry and I had more time I would have liked to have asked people to do playtesting and tweaked these values before submission but such is the nature of a game jam. :)

Are you thinking it needs a little more acceleration speed so you can react more quickly?

To me, the ship felt a bit slow to maneuver overall: it takes about 3 seconds to move across the width of the screen. So I think it’s not just about acceleration – I’d probably try raising the velocity cap as well.

It also surprised me that there was so much momentum after letting go of a movement key, especially vertically. This is why I’d also try decelerating a bit more sharply when the player lets go of the throttle.

All of this is just my opinion though – take it with a pinch of salt and see what other playtesters are telling you so you know what to improve upon :)
