Fun game! I included it in my compilation video series of all of the games from the Kenney Jam, if you’d like to take a look. :)

I am so glad you put in that toggle for the CRT or I couldn't have played this. It was making my eyes cross. But it looked good, and I loved the feel of this one. A simple puzzler that got harder as it went, and it just worked. Could use some music, but the simple sounds were enough. There's always youtube in the background anyway.

Developer(+1)

Yeah. It was a bad idea to drop that I’m at the last minute.  You are right, music or ambient would have been a better choice.

Pretty nice addition to an already well known concept. I liked it

Developer

Thanks!

The look of this game is just perfect! Everything feels fluid and the animations are great! My only complaint is that in games like this you can usually set up combos so that combining one item causes things to fall into place so you get another combination, but that doesn't seem to work here.

This is really well made! And beautiful too.

I think the gameplay itself is not strong with the theme, tho.

Overall very nice visuals and polish, so great job!

Developer

Thanks. I think I spent a little too much time on the visuals and should have worked on the base game play a bit more.

Fun, polished, and on-theme!  A very strong entry in this jam!

Developer

Thanks! Yours is great too.

Very well rounded game, doesn't seem like a 2 days jam.  All the effects and details show how much effort and love you have put on this project, congrats! :)  I would have loved to see some reward for >3 match and it's a shame that the cursed theme was not fully embraced.

Incredible work nonetheless !!!

Developer(+1)

I had the code for matches > 3 but ran out of time to implement. I was going to have "coins" that dropped down when you matched and more that three would have dropped extra coins.  Oh well!

Amazing.

Loved the concept, the visuals, and the gameplay.

One thing I would have like: a run button. The little imp moves to slow with its little legs, and the “boss” kept telling me to “be speedy”. Haha.

Oh and the windows version works great on Linux using wine.

Developer(+1)

What good idea. A dash would have been awesome!

Very neat game, loved the concept, and very polished as well

Thanks!

I followed your game news on twitter from start. Really nice game, soft animations, proper speed movement, i enjoy playing it, and i expend on it like 30 minutes non stop. Its really cool that you added a xbox contoller to play it. Probably the best game experience for me of all gamejam. And the 1MB size make me really happy to see. Most devs works with their 3d engine to make a 2d fast game of 50mb, and they are scared to try new engines, and you didn't, very big point for you.

Crt effect its really cool for 1 minute before the headache. Sad it wasn't working as you expected, at least you leave it there so we saw it for a while before turned it off.

Downside: you dont have bonus if you stack 3+ items (easy to program, what happend here!! the game already break them!!) some items already come prestacked, low speed for new items, and the actual curse theme its poor implemented. For the level of game you can do, we have to ask for more. Pulish that details will  give you the victory. On my hearth i want to give you 15/15 stars, but i can only give you 13.

P.D.: A bug if you hold 'right' in the corner with an item and pess A at the same time, you stack items outside of the center of the screen.

Thanks! The engine I use is Solar2D and it's been around for a while (formerly CoronaSDK) so it's build just for 2D (and mainly mobile), so file sizes are pretty reasonable. I have a "framework" that I start from for jams called ponyblitz that has the basics setup for loading maps, gamepad and keyboard controls, scene management, etc. It's open source and after every jam I update it with anything new I needed for that jam--so the more jams I do, the better the framework.

I had all the code ready for bonuses and just ran out of time to do anything with it. I was going to make extra items fall that you had to pick up to claim, but alas It didn't happen.

I thought I had fixed that stacking error, oh well.

Thanks again for your kind words!

This is that very well polished game that occurs only once in every jam. I really liked the gameplay and the whole feel of it, I appreciate that you put sleeck neat instructions on the screen.
I think it lacks challenge, because as far as I've played it (level 7) it's really easy. I would have expected things to come down quite quickly while I was frenetically moving things around to get matches.
Awesome work nonetheless :D

Thanks! Yeah, I really didn’t get a chance to play it as thoroughly as I wanted. I did jump ahead to level 15 and it gets a bit faster, but I should have doubled the speed where a new line comes in. Maybe I’ll do some post jam tweaking...

I did write a bunch of notes on things I wanted to put in that I didn’t have time to do. Any ideas are more than welcome.

Well done, I definitely dig the concept. Very refreshing game

Well done! I really liked this one. Thank you for adding a toggle on the CRT visual :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks. I probably shouldn’t have spent the time adding the CRT effect—and shouldn’t have been the default option.  Or maybe tweaked it down a little bit... thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

This was delightful and incredibly well executed! The only visual feedback I would have liked was an indicator of how many points a combo was worth, so I could tell getting 4+ cleared more than just 3. Very well done!

Developer

Yeah, I ran out of time but was going to do a bonus for matching more than 3. It would have helped later levels.

Good concept. I like visual effects and the graphics are used well. I would have liked to take a break in game (or else I missed the option). Good job !

Developer

Thanks! Didn’t get around to putting a pause in.

Cool concept, similar to match 3 games. Graphics were used very professionally and it did not look like a jam game, more like and actual well polished game. Gameplay was solid, graphics were cute. Wasn't a fan of crt effect, but good thing it was possible to disable it.

Developer

Thanks! In retrospect I wasted time putting that CRT effect in.

love the concept. easy to understand game play. a little polish and you've got yourself a nice casual puzzle game.

Love the style and the gameplay, i reached lvl 6 and didnt know if there was an end so i stopped.

Thought the z button would killed me so i waited until level 4 to use it. Tile based movement would have been nice to grab things quicker and easier though. Nice game overall and nice polish.

Developer

Thanks! There’s a dialog that explains the ‘z’ key, but I mainly had it in to test dying, that’s why that icon was there.

I would have preferred tile based movement but other than that the gameplay was super fun and the game really well executed, good job!

Developer

Thanks!
