Awesome Idea, but Fish's are Friends, not Food :)  So Except of Fishes as your enemies, which is more or less a creative choice, it is a nice game. I liked the face expression to express the health.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! Well, maybe not these fish. They mightve been in a crazy experiment, which gave them ability to fly. And backwards, but they were actually the failed product and were thrown out in a deep cave.  But, that's an absolute hypothesis if you know what i mean.

Also, same the faces are my favourite feature aswell, actually i am the one that did it. It was a last minute decision, and at one point i thought there wasn't enough health indication. I am very pleased that you liked it

Glad you like our game!

Developer

Of course you made the face, you made all art. And you implemented it as well

Interesting idea and nice music.  I agree Serverator, an indication on the used hand would be a good idea  ;). good job

Developer(+1)

That means it's an agreement triangle. Or maybe a Squre cuz I think Totally would agree as well :)

Developer(+1)

I like squares more so yes!

Submitted(+1)

Nice idea, reminds me of "Mount your friends". The indication of which hand is controlled would be neat and arms kept tangling, but otherwise great game!

Developer

It's all true. Though I hadn't seen "Mount your friends" before

Submitted(+1)

Idea is pretty good, climbing is so fun, but the game feels a bit easy.

Developer(+1)

Hardcore gamer I see xD. Most find it difficult. But I'm grateful someone could actually play it as intended, then!

Submitted(+1)

Very cool game!  I love the art style and music.  I can't tell if there is an end or not.

Developer

Thx! It does have an end. It's just a "tad hard" to reach.

Submitted(+2)

Fun little arcadey romp! I don't know if it changes later on, but the looks get pretty samey pretty quickly. Still, I like the atmosphere. :)

Developer

Thank you! It may look arcade but this is actually a 1 level game  I get what you said about the visuals. But time, again told develpoers no, so we couldn't add more varyity to it.

Cool game

Developer

Cool comment

(Jokes aside, thanks!)

Good original idea. I like how the Robots face changes depending on the level of health! I feel like the mechanics are a bit underdeveloped though. Some more challenge would have been great!

Developer

Thank you!

What do you mean by underdeveloped? I would be grateful if you told us so we can make better games in the future!

Also...More challenge? You must be one of those players who beat Celeste C-sides and call it easy.

Submitted(+1)

The game lack a clear visual indication of which hands is being controlled, and is also way too hard : the enemies and the lava are way too fast for a slow robots whose arms keep getting tangled. Also, it doesn't really fit the theme.

I like the music and the visuals though.

Developer

Thank you for being honest. I see all your points about difficulty. We didn't have time to playtest it properly.

Though, I don't see how this wouldn't fit the theme, as the robot's hands and body are "joined together" by joints.

Submitted(+1)

Don't worry, every game here suffer from a lack of playtest.

Submitted(+2)

It took me a while to get used to the controls, but once I did, the game was really fun and I couldn't stop playing! The visuals are really pretty and the music was so reflective and made the experience much better. Also, I want to know who hurt those poor fish, they look so angry :,( I want to hug them. Anyways, awesome game! Keep it up.

Developer(+1)

I'm happy you enjoyed it! Same with music. This is like telling us: "You had your goals set and you reached them." Cuz we were trying to achieve something like that :)

(Totally official) Lore: The fish were originally a part of a dangerous sience experiment. So they can fly now. But they can't go back to the sea. That's why they are mad.

Submitted(+1)

Chill, nice experience. The concept was quite original. Controlling the robot was a bit fiddly and the game lacked some polish. However the jam only lasted for 48 hours so i cant really complain about that.

Developer(+1)

I am happy you found the concept to be original, as it was one of our goals to make somewhat of an inventive game. Also,

"Controlling the robot was a bit fiddly and the game lacked some polish. However the jam only lasted for 48 hours so i cant really complain about that."

I knew someone was gonna say that. Cuz I agree.

Submitted(+2)

This was a very compelling experience.
At first, I thought "why is this drama piano here? A bit much isn't it?" but then, as I helped this poor robot escape the chasm, I realized how important this robots struggle for life was.

Uhh so suffice to say it all comes together quite well somehow ! It's rather tough and I feel like it is a better experience for players who have already played a game in a similar format like that one rock climbing game related to QWOP.

So yeah, getting to the end was extremely satisfying, good game good music good experience. :>

Developer(+1)

I can barely believe my music was actually not making the experience fall apart. I like that dramatic interperation you made. I was trying to achive a sense that the robot is determined to climb out.

I can see how having experience with that game might help players. We were going for an idea with indirect control (you can only directly control the hands, not the player) with joints, so I see the similarity. (Also it's a suprise to me you got to the end.)

(+2)

Short but satisfying.

Fish swam backwards, 0/10

Developer

It may or may not be an inentional easter egg.

Submitted(+1)

Very cute game, it was challenging but fun. I really loved the theme music and the whole feel of the game. It felt relaxing, but the game itself was not easy. Well done!

Developer

I'm glad you liked it! I guess the relaxed music plus the challenge could help calm the player down? All the credit for cuteness goes to Totally.

Submitted(+1)

The music really makes it stand out and gives it a surprisingly melancholic vibe.

Developer

I.... Thank you. Had some doubts about it but I guess it turned out good in the end.

Hey mate. I have some feedback about your game.

Firstly, the tutorial is too long so I had to refresh the page to read it again. The fact I needed to go up is self-explanatory

Secondly, the fact there is no way to restart the game after I, say take damage on literally the first fish because I'm bad is irritating.

Furthermore, the fact that I move even when I'm not pressing keys sometimes is also irritating and caused me damage that felt rather unfair.

Sometimes I took damage twice in quick succession, which felt also rather unfair. Although, I do also wish there'd be screen shake for when the player takes damage.

I wish the fishes wouldn't rotate in such a weird way.

Robot is cute tho.

Lastly, I wish I'd know whether the game is infinite or not. Couldn't be the game smh.

Developer

- I get the tutorial. I wanted to make even dummies understand what you had to do.

- Yeah, I guess the only option is taking damage intentionally.

Yes. The use of the physics engine was a great idea. I think we could have found a solution for that if we had more time. We had many ideas how to improve the robot, but in the end I was just happy that it's functional.

- Whoops. Damage bug found.

- The fish were my mistake. Idk why are they even fish, they are literally floating.

- The level actually has an end. I think if you reach it you should be put back into the menu

Developer

Actually the damage bug was found long time ago
and i did fix it , but i guess the implementation wasnt good enough

Submitted(+1)

Oh that poor little robot. Really creative, nice use of the theme, and incredibly challenging (for me, anyway). Cute, well presented, excellent.

Developer

Thank you! We sorta tried to be "inventive" with it all, having indirect control with joints and all that. (Then, the physics made it a bit harder to make it both functional and fun.) The challenge is universal. Next time, we will probably leave more time to... "Place and TEST and TWEAK". Instead of just placing.

Submitted(+1)

Super fun to play, nice art and music, overall pretty good game.

Developer(+1)

I am flattered.

Submitted(+1)

Looks great and sounds great! The mechanics remind me a lot of QWOP and those other "rage games". Difficulty could maybe be tweaked a little, but maybe that's the point :P

Developer

Yeah. The difficulty is a thing. That may not be the best. In the beggining we were like "How do we make this actually challenging enough so players wouldn't get bored?" Then, we made the level and had to submit the game without much testing. So I guess next time we have to organise even better!

Submitted(+1)

Really fun game, switching arms can be a cool challenge.  Art looks clean as heck! Theo's music on the piano was a really sweet touch. Good submission!

Developer

Aww thank you Cadet! I'm glad you liked what we made!
