cool game idea, very hard to control however, good job!

Developer

It seems controls are out of control too)
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I'll improve the controls for sure

Submitted(+2)

Very nice idea! I love it. The visuals are great. Keep creating games!

Developer(+1)

I'm so pleased to hear that, such supportive comment is truly the greatest motivation I can get. Roger that! Thank you for leaving a comment, it means a lot!

Submitted(+2)

It's so hard to control x) Graphics are great and gameplay idea is cool. I had fun, keep it up 💪

Developer(+1)

Are you talking about the grid-based movement or control keys, ahah? If you have some suggestions for improvements, I will definitely incorporate these ideas for further improvements
But anyways, thank you for playing the game and sharing your opinion, it's nice to see that you liked it :) thank you!

Submitted(+1)

Maybe a little slow-mo effect when pressing Ctrl would feel great 🤷‍♂️?

Developer

Wait, but it already has one? Do you mean to make it more visible/impactful, or slower?

Submitted(+2)

I like the graphics, and that the toilet paper rolls out of control. Best of luck in the GMTK game jam!

Developer(+1)

*the problems of toilet rolls*
Thank you for sharing the opinion, it's a pleasure to know that you liked it :) Good luck to you too!

I like the idea, but sometimes brushing against a wall brings me an immediate game-over. This shouldn't happen, right? The movement is grid-based, but the collision detection isn't?

EDIT: Grammar. "The movement is be grid-based..."

Developer

Did it happen often? I didn't face this problem while testing, hmm. Maybe it was due to running out of pieces of paper? I wanted to make the visual feedback of what actually kills the character more intuitive, but didn't have time for that.
I will look into it anyways, maybe there is a problem with collision as you mentioned. Huge thank you for pointing that out, and for playing too! I will fix it if this is the case

Hey ! This a Funny game with cute visuals !

First a first jam this is reaaaaally cool !

Developer(+1)

I'm so grateful to know that you liked it :D
It was truly a fun experience, and I appreciate all comments. Thank you a lot for playing:)

Submitted(+2)

Cool game idea! Idk why you chose ijkl as the controls, i often pressed the wrong button

Developer(+1)

To be honest, I was using WASD until the very last moment, bu then I realized that it's uncomfortable to use both hands on the same side of the keyboard. Using arrow keys didn't seem to work because my computer counts "ctrl + arrow key" as a standard shortcut. So, I just used what I found the most comfortable for now (IJKL), but I agree that I need to think of better controls.
Thank you for sharing the opinion, I will incorporate your suggestion into my game ;)

Submitted(+2)

Interesting concept! Very challenging. Good job :)!

Developer(+1)

Hey, I'm thankful to know that you liked it, thanks for sharing your opinion!

Submitted(+2)

Really cool concept! Make made crack more than one smile while playing! I just have one thing to say: I wish the movement could be snappier, makes it kind of difficult to turn in the corners. But I really love the idea & how it develops alongside the levels, really cool work!

Developer

It was my first game jam in 48 hours, so I wasn't really able to improve the controls in time ahahah, but I will do that after the jam rating is over.
Anyways, I am grateful for such positive words AND the suggestions on what should be improved. Thank you!

Submitted (1 edit) (+2)

Really, really nice concept! Unfortunately, I could not survive longer than 6 seconds, and controls don't activate (when you move in one direction the arrow doesn't appear sometime in perpendicular directions)

Developer

Hmm, this is kind of strange. I deliberately turned off the ability to choose the opposite direction, but I never had problems with perpendicular ones. Are you a Windows user? I will check the game to see what I can do with this problem, huge thanks for pointing that out! And I'm glad you liked it :)

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Yep, windows user. At times engines lose some functionality during builds for different target platforms, so may be this is the case...

Developer

Well, at least it didn't broke the game completely :D
I wrote that down into the notes of further improvements, I'll see if it's a platform dependent problem. Thank you!

Submitted(+2)

challenging ! kinda frustrating lol , Good job :D

Developer(+1)

That's why the game is 'out of control.' ahahah. But seriously, thank you for playing, all comments are valuable to me!

Submitted(+2)

I love this art! Nice job getting it all done in under 48 hours. Best of luck!

Developer

Hey, it's nice to hear that, huge thanks for playing and commenting! Best of luck to you too, I'll check your game soon too ;)

Submitted(+2)

The idea of this game is really fun and interesting, but it's really hard to play it, like really hard, and sometimes for some reason when I was pressing to go up (I) it wasn't working. But the game overall was fun and interesting to play.

Developer

Hmm, do you remember when did it happen? I suggest you were trying to press I when your character was moving downwards? Because I deliberately prevented the player from going in the opposite direction to the current one (it would result in the immediate collision with the tail). Or it wasn’t your case?

I truly appreciate the feedback, it will definitely help me to fix and improve the game, so thanks for that! Also, I’m glad you liked the game

Submitted(+2)

Good game ideal, it suffers a bit with the grid base movement, I would prefer free movement instead but good result overall.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I am going to add two versions to the game - with and without the grid. But seems that without the grid is more preferable by everyone anyways, so I will work on that first. I highly appreciate the feedback, thanks!

Submitted(+2)

The  change in direction  doesn't activate immediately, which ruins any precise movements.

Developer

I think you assumed that the direction should be changed once you press I.J.K.L, but it won’t work until you release the ’CTRL’ button. That was the point of using ”CTRL.”

But I will fix the controls and make them more intuitive and polished. Thank you for the feedback, it helps to Improve the game!

Submitted(+1)

Even when I release Ctrl I will often move Diagonally which is unintuitive.

Developer

Oh, I see, well I will try to fix that if you found them unintuitive. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, your feedback is important!

Submitted(+2)

Original concept! Very silly, I found it not so intuitive at first but you get the hang of it quickly! Great job on this one.

Developer

I actually wanted to make the full proper tutorial levels to smoothly teach the mechanics, but I ran OUT of time, ironically 😂

But I will improve the controls anyway to make them more intuitive even without a tutorial. I’m happy you liked the game, and thank you for the comment 😁

Submitted(+1)

Sounds like a good idea! This game had good potential for a fun mobile time waster if you ever want to expand. Check out my game if you get the chance! Its simple but as a solo team i'm looking for some feedback.

Developer(+1)

I am still unsure of what would be the best way to incorporate the mechanics for the mobile devices (swipes or joysticks etc.), but I will definitely expand the game soon. I will start updating as soon as the rating is over. Thanks for a valuable suggestion :)

And sure, I was just about to check out your game! I just have a different time zone, so I couldn't do that earlier. I actually just woke up ahah

(+2)

once you get it becomes fun, I think the controls are a bit Uncomfortable mapped.

and I love how you need CTRL to continue playing

Developer(+1)

I am happy to hear that you liked it, I was really worried about the the idea with ”ctrl.”

Also, initially, I wanted to use arrow keys to change the direction, but it seems that the computer counts”ctrl + arrow key” as a Standard computer shortcut. I will try to experiment and find the alternative buttons

Thank you for playing and for the feedback! 😁

Submitted(+2)

Really nice game, one of the best gems of this jam :)

Developer(+1)

Wow, thank you for such kind words, I’m really glad you liked the game 😁  it really means a lot

Submitted(+2)

The game has a really interesting concept however I feel it suffers from being grid-based but at the same time not grid-based. The presentation and art is fantastic!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback, I highly appreciate it! Now when you said that, I am just curious: what do you think would suit the game more, full grid-based movement or without the grid? Anyways, thank you again!

Submitted(+1)

Rounded movement (like a car) would be very hard to do but could be rewarding. However making the game fully grid-based would probably be the safest option because it would lead to the least amount of collision-based frustrations. I could see the game being very similar to Snake.

Developer

I will try to make both versions to see which one is better and update the game once the rating is over. Maybe I will allow the player to decide between with/without a grid. Thanks for the clarification and suggestions!

Submitted(+2)

Not sure if this is a problem for everyone but when I try to play the windows version It says that access to the zip folder is denied

Developer

Hmm, I couldn't check the game for Windows due to the time limit. I didn't have problems with Zip folders for Windows before, though. I will check tomorrow if this is the case, we can't change the game anyways. Thank you for letting me know! I hope there are no mistakes with the ZIP :(

Submitted(+1)

The Windows zip works fine for me so I'm not sure what's up.

On the game: I liked the toilet paper theme haha. Since playthroughs are very short and kinda require both hands on the keyboard, having to use the mouse to click restart was a little annoying. Maybe restart could've been bound to a key as well.

Developer

Corrade, oh my God, I didn't even think of that, what a wasted potential!  But I will fix this feature  once the rating is over and update the game. My high appreciation for pointing this out, this advice is extremely valuable.
Also, I'm glad that the ZIP worked for you and that you liked the theme ahah. Thank you for sharing the feedback!
