Interesting approach you took on the theme. It was quite frustrating for me to get used to playing the game, but its a cool concept! 5/5 for the originality!

How does your game fit the theme?
When pressing a key you will fire projectiles based on the letter, each letter has limited uses so when you run out of ammo you are OUT OF (that specific) CONTROL.

I don't know what I was expecting going into this, but this was not it. This was AMAZING though. really enjoyed the way the attacks worked and varied. A great take on the concept of constantly changing controls. Definitely needs a bit of a tutorial, it took me a bit to understand the counters. I was able to generate a fatal error at one point, If you need more information on that I can be reached on the GMTK discord. Thanks for the amazing game.
Nice job! The gameplay was awesome and I loved the unique graphic style with the grid! Well done. :D
This is a really clever idea! I love how each of the letters has a different behaviour and I think the mechanic of moving in the direction you're shooting is quite interesting as it forces you to play very offensively. Great submission!
I love this concept! It fits the theme nicely while also brings something new to it. The visuals do fit the game very well. Good job!
The base idea for this game has definitely been done this jam, with the controls constantly changing, but this was a really unique implementation of that idea. I loved that you used ASCII as the art style, it helped with the problem that a lot of these games have with struggling to work out quickly what your controls changed to. Loved the game, it was a real highlight of the jam for me!
So much variety! I really enjoyed that! Every bullet type was so unique and interesting. Only criticism is maybe have different controls for movement? It was hard to be strategic with my bullets when escaping from enemies also meant using up a ton of ammo.
That was something that I tried in testing, but I decided that it was more interesting and fit the theme better if running out of ammo meant running "out of control". With regard to the running away point, quite a few weapons can hit enemies any where on screen regardless of direction, learning what each letter does and how best to use it (even if it's just for movement) is a key part of mastering the game.
Good Idea and cool Style!
But Its kinda frustrating when the Enemy comes from the Corners and you have no attack to hit him where he is. Maybe add diagonal attacks . Also the game Crashed after a Minute of playing.
I think after a bit of polishing it could be a really good game!
I really like the concept, I had fun giving it some tries. I think the U attack is a bit overpowered but very fun to use ! Well done ! Though as people have already mentioned, adding a bit of variety would be a nice add.
This is a lot of fun! I love the variety in the player attacks. As has been said, the attacks that move you towards the enemy work really well!
Excellent game! I love that doing the attacks both moves the character and launches the attack. The visuals worked exactly as they should.
I'd love this game with a variety of enemies, levels, and hazards. Plus it could be a fun struggle between needing to not perform an attack and needing to move in the direction of that attack. Just something to consider.
A+
It's a nice game with an interesting idea, and I think if you nerf the attacks and the overall difficulty, the game will be even better! Too much randomness might be confusing, although, the theme was 'out of control' ahahah. Good luck to you!
