Ranked from 18 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does your game fit the theme?
You can't decide which direction to aim your laser. This turns the game from an ordinary top-down shooter into a manic game of positioning, especially with trying to shoot multiple enemies at once.

This game constantly forces you to keep repositioning, sometimes having to weave between walls of enemies just to line up the right shot. It's hectic, frantic, and absolutely fun. Only feedback I've got is that you might want to add some end lag to shooting, so that players can't just spam it. That aside, real nice work here!

A nice little bop of a game.  I feel like this kind of game lives or dies on how it feels to control and how readable it is, and this succeeds on both fronts.

My one complaint is that I had a hard time parsing the health mechanic. I thought it was instant death, but was confused why my score didn't seem to reset. I think that's partly because the health bar isn't super obvious, combined with the game essentially resetting on a hit. A piece of VFX showing why the enemies are being destroyed might be a nice extra touch (like the bomb in geometry wars)?

Nice game and fun concept ! I was surprised by the presence of different type of ennemies. I like how the player have many life (a health bar is welcome). Shooting ennemies is satisfying, and I take a lot of pleasure to (try) to beat my highest score ! Good job !

Thanks for the feedback! A little tip: the player IS the health bar. When you get hit, the ship's core (that's what it's called now, I guess) will shrink. You have 5 hits in total.

Oh, thanks ! I didn’t see that.

More like "Crazy angles!" :)

Developer

I'd say "crazy movement to compensate for weird angles", but that's just me. ;)

Thanks for the feedback during your stream! I took note of it and will work on improving this game after the jam.

I'm glad to hear it!

This was really fun! I think the easiest part was when there were a lot of enemies and you could rack up points. very well done ^^

Developer (1 edit)

Something I think is worth pointing out: Not only do you have a laser that cannot be aimed, but because getting a high score is best achieved by shooting multiple enemies at once, you're encouraged to *let* the enemies get Out Of Control so you can potentially get more points! I didn't intend for this, but I will absolutely take it.

Edit: Also listen to the music!

This was fun! Good use of the theme :)

Pretty thoughtful execution of this concept. The balance was quite good for 48 hours. Also, I like lasers, so you already had me before even playing ahah. Good job!

Nice execution of everything feeling out of control!

Great idea with having no control over your next shot, but a preview of where it'll go. I tried spamming attacks to see if that was a possible exploit, but it's surprisingly uneffective. The whole thing is a bit too fast paced and hectic for my aging slow brain to handle, but I expect there are people who will love this.

Well presented. Not all that pretty, but polished functionally which is preferable really!

Fits the theme well!
