The 2 perspectif thing is genius. The presentation needs a lot more work but that's obvious but the tech is in place. Clever game!

If this is your first GameJam game then please never stop making GameJam games :D
It was awesome. I've seen a lot of this 2D-3D shifting games out there but the execution on this one is great. Didn't really find the theme in it for "only one" because the "only one perspective at a time" feel like a bit of a stretch. But all in all the game was great, lots of "aha" moments in there that made me want to play more. Although the last puzzle was a bit confusing on how the hell did I get to that last platform. Also on my first try I managed to get out of bounds and after a while ended up in an empty void so had to reload the game.
Bugs aside it was a good experience! :)
Thats really confidence building thank you so much! Yes the last one was to teach you more about the Orange blocks behavior in the 2nd Dimension, they sort of override the 2nd Dimension by applying Depth (hence why you cant move past them even in the 2nd Dimension).
if you spatially position yourself via the 2nd Dimension, in "Front" of a Orange block, you are actually in front of it - due to depth they add which, the 2nd Dimension doesn't have. So you hit it when returning to the 3rd Dimension (Isometric Overview) and because there isn't anything below you now (in the 3rd), you fall down.
God thats difficult to explain (could even be illogical), wish i had more time to develop and teach the player these consequences and rules slowly but I had to squeeze everything down to the most interesting things I could find and fast. I will do better next time!
I didn't get the direction the first time. Maybe add an axes to show where's the right, left, up, down ?
But great game. Try mine too ;) https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463391
Really cool idea. I think the buttons were too sensitive for a game like this. There were a lot of times where I only wanted to rotate but ended up rotating and moving. Either making one action per key down or a longer interval between actions would help. Pretty daunting mechanic to make on your first game jam. Good try!
It like a more puzzly version of Fez, it's pretty neat. One minor control suggestion: could you make the isometric screen work with numpad 1379? It always takes some time to get used to these kind of controls, especially when different games don't agree on whether to move up-right, up-left, or (in games where moving diagonally is possible) up.
Excellent puzzle mechanic, even though you're evidently inspired by Fez.
I don't think it adheres to the theme, tbh. 'Only one perspective' goes for most games, really... I'd rather say you have multiple perspectives to chose from and that's in fact the opposite of the theme.
Even so, it's a good design and if you enjoy puzzle games you should explore this more after this week (you'll be busy rating other's entries, right?). One of them got me rattling the ol' spatial thinking quite a bit.
I unfortunately wont have the time to as i have another game in the works thats far more interesting (in my opinion that it) to this one.
Only one perspective for most games make sense but in this one its the central mechanic really, Only one perspective is allowed at a time, just like there are games in the jam with multiple items but Only One can be used at time. Its an open theme to begin with so its a fair fit in my opinion. Though I see what you mean, I needed there to be an overview perspective in order for you to spatially situate things (even if, in hindsight, it doesn't work as well as it could). Thank you for your honest feedback.
Only One Perspective at a time. Only One Eye to see it. Yes very similar to Fez expect that Fez uses the 3D to influence the player in the 2D this little game is like an inverse of that, in that you are moving in the 2nd Dimension to dictate where you are situated in the 3rd when you toggle the perspective. Fez is far superior though. This game also has loads more bugs than Fez haha.
I like the Idea but sometimes you can just bug out and walk on air.
