This was pretty adorable/hilarious. Really great art; looks like a storybook. It's a rather short and simplistic game, though I see the developer has added additional mechanics - definitely want to check that out, but I feel I should rate based on the "jam" version. My only real complaint is that the camera feels a bit too zoomed in. I would have liked to have seen more of my surroundings.
Oh yes that is only fair if you do rate me on that :). You have a fun little game yourself on the jam. Rated it too :)
So fun! Too short! The art is great, and the grappling feels good. I only wish there was more content! Also, is there a reason that the flag takes a long time to lower?
Since then I have 10 levels and new mechanics as well;). Actually youre the first to ask that and yeah I was planning to add traps that you have to survive even after catching the flag :)
i liked the art of the game it just needs some sort of animation and it will be perfect well done.
You can go checkout my entry if you pleased it will be nice if you rated and left feedback.
Nice little game you've made here! I especially like the art on the bear
This is really neat! The core concept is fun and versatile (and is actually pretty similar, though not identical, to my entry). The visuals are top notch. The only improvement I might suggest is adding some music (the ambient background noise was nice, but felt a bit empty). Great job!
Yeah I agree with the previous comments that this is a bit too nauseating to engage for very long, but the ieda and visual design are cool and the teased improvements look promising. Curious to see the next version after the jam!
Great game !! Excellent graphics. I would like to see many more levels, even an infinite mode (autogenerated) would be fine as a complement to the levels. Consider adjustments to the camera's implementation (ignore the area outside the edges).
Thanks. Yeah I'm currently working on more levels and mechanics and the camera has been fixed but I cant update the game with the fixes as it's locked because of the competition :). I was thinking of an infinite level as well but I dont know yet how that would translate to a procedurally generated level...Its definitely worth thinking about:)
Yes, automatic generation is a complicated problem. There is a lot of theory about it and the most adept of the subject could be stressed with this naive suggestion but the first thing that comes to mind is reversing the problem. Nomally you design a level and the player must select the best way to go. But in the automatic generation you could generate a random path for the player and then build the level around this path. Preventing the walls from crossing the path and with a tree at each point of the path to ensure that the player can follow it. This would help to create the infinite mode and also as a guide to generate the levels of the game (you generate many automatically and choose the best and make improvements). Good luck
I was thinking about it as well and I think I would go the Spelunkey style of procedural generation with random hand crafted rooms attaching to eachother randomly. With procedural generation Im always afraid It wouldnt be fun. This will be good to experiment to spend time with now :D
Super cutesy platformer with a grappling hook and no jump. I really liked the bear itself! Could be improved with a bigger screen, and maybe more freedom with the grappling hook to attach to other things? I can imagine an expansion with diff objects to hook onto that will have different effects on your movement eg. hooking onto a swinging log so you swing while on a swinging log.
yeah I am aware of the camera flaws and I have fixed it but because of the review period of the jam I can not update this version yet but believe me it is fixed :D . You did read my mind with those mechanics ideas I'm currently working on exactly those mechanics and I already have more levels in my updated version. :)
Here is a screenshot of the camera fix...you can only grab on the leaves that are in the light.
yet another platformer-but-you-cant-jump, but this one feels really good and has some neat art. well done!
Cute art and nice idea. Though I the zoomed in camera really hurt navigating levels. Needing to click directly on trees for the grapple to fire made it feel like the grapple wasn't working when you missed. I would make it so when you click it always fires even if it won't stick, then you can show it has a limited range, or bounce off rocks or whatnot.
It’s all solved now :) but I cant update it becaus of the competition I think.
This game is pretty good and the art is very cute, however i found the small field of view made it quite annoying at times.
Reminds me of Getting Over It, but less infuriating, nice level design and art though.
yeah I was aware of the similarities with Getting Over It but i was going for a more Super Meetboy type of gamefeel... it might not be noticable yet but it will be from the new levels :)
Love the art, concept, sounds! I would buy a full game of this!
thank you. I will be crating more levels as well as a phone version :)
Loved the artwork and the idea. Wish it had more levels and a snappier camera, as it lags behing the bear and i can't see what's right ahead of it
Cute artwork, and a pretty satisfying grappling hook. I think the camera could use some work though. Sometimes it wouldn't keep up with the bear so I couldn't grapple ahead.
great concept and incredible visuals. love it!
i love the art style, its very cute. your summary is hilarious. the screen did feel a little cramped sometimes and i think it wouldve felt better if you had zoomed out a little. in total, great game!
Strait forward concept. It needs more polish on its execution and visuals.
