A jam submission

Rescue the lightView game page

A platformer game without vision. Well sort of. You have to jump on top of enemies to reveal the map.

Very floaty controls, which isn't so bad. But the reveal of the level is too short for me; I don't have photographic memory. :-)

As mentioned by others, the controls are really my only issue.  I like the concept, but the jump really needs to be tighter to keep it from being overly frustrating.

Nice art style

also, in the 2nd level, there's a platform on the far right (between others above and below it) that is completely unseeable. not sure if that was intentional, but there wasn't even a nub of it sticking out. i randomly went that way and didn't die. that's how i figured it out...

Developer

oh okay thanks. Its definitely not intentional. Gonna look at that.

pretty good. the bunny was reeeeal floaty. I would definitely him him more weight to make it more fair. in a game when your onjective is to remember and specifically land jumps, you don't want the actual jump to cause you to die. it probably cause about 1/2 my deaths.. I liked the little back story with the monks. the gmtk challenge was kinda met. It's still a platformer. You still jump and land on platforms. It does have a twist but i wouldn't say it's the exact twist he was looking for

that was a good time, although i don't have the patience to memorize a full level like that. you did good

It is a nice, simple idea, but the controls needs a lot of work to make it feel good.

Also, you could make the core idea feel way better with sound feedback. As it was now I mostly ignored what the light showed me and jumped towards the nearby enemy (since it has to be on a platform).

One last thing is - I like the rabbit very much! (:

Thank you for playing. Sadly we didnt have the time and experience to polish the jumping mechanic and make it feel really good. Same with sound. Thanks for the feedback :D

You will get it right next time :)

Love the art! The controls could be better but I love the idea of memorization with this game. I found myself trying over and over again to remember where the blocks were.

Developer

Thank you! I hope you had fun playing it. :)

Controls are a little ropey but I like the art style and the core mechanic! I love how the level practically blinds you with it's design, forcing you to stare and memorise.

Developer

Thank you :)

Awesome concept, and I'm a big fan of the visual design! The jump feels a little bit too floaty, but with a little more polish I reckon you could have something really cool! Nice one!

Developer

Thanks. The idea behind the controls was that you can really feel that the rabbit can jump high and far, but it didnt turn out all that great. Its good to know that for possible future platformers. I hope you had fun playing. :D
