I found the story in the description and the silly art style to be so funny. Very original idea!

Randy is my hero :)

Submitted(+1)

I loved it... I also loved that you made a whole story for randy.

Developer

Thanks bud! Yep I wanted him to be a really unique character that we could all grow to love over the course of gdko:)

There is a nice story you have written. Unique character. Nice Job. Also i couln't figure out how score system works but I was wondering how would this mechanic fit in a gameplay.

Developer(+1)

Thanks bud! At the moment you increase your score but patting your head and rubbing your tummy. At the moment the game demonstrates his unique ability, but we’ll see if there is some more depth to this in round 2!

Submitted

Very cool minigame but I don't see the unique ability in here.

Developer

How many video game characters can rub their tummy AND pat their head at the same time??

Submitted(+1)

Well, I guess it's a unique ability then.

Need a VR version with a Kinect where I can score points by actually doing this in real life, which I then attempted to do, and did quite well at. It is absolutely completely original in the field of videogames.

Developer

oooo VR! You are absolutely right, that is what Randy needs in the future. Im toying around with the idea of adding a second mouse input for the patting of the head so you can use 2 mice for the most authentic experience

Who holds the current high score? I'm gunning to be the world's greatest Randy3000 player!!!

I love when I see a MightyJor submission in a game jam because I know I'm getting one of two things:

- An awesome and impressive game that makes me wonder how somebody can pull this much polish off in a jam game.

- Or what this one is, which I'm not sure how to describe properly. You have a special talent for injecting levity into what is often a high-stress event. Game jams are supposed to be low stakes and good opportunities for learning, but sometimes we (maybe just me) can take it too seriously and overcommit time and energy and burn out. When I play your entries in this category they remind me that games are meant to be joyful. You've been delighting and surprising me with fun little deviations and entries that almost poke fun at the theme and concept of a jam entirely. From TimeWaster3000 to Randy3000 — I know I can count on your entries for a good time.

And I'll say it again, that commitment to the backstory in the description is the cherry on top of this entry. Well done.

Developer(+1)

Well gee, that might be the nicest thing anyones ever said to me! Thanks a bunch! I’m glad Xander let’s me get away with making these types of games because I’ve been kicked out of jams before 😂 the 3000 series is the result of me wanting to make fun and exciting games but realizing that I just don’t have the time for it anymore.

If you ever want to team up for a Xanderjam or something, let me know!

Submitted(+1)

That would be awesome and I am absolutely going to take you up on that. I’ve only ever done a jam solo, so having a teammate (one that’s even more talented and knowledgeable ) would be great and makes a lot of one-week jams seem a lot more manageable.

Developer(+1)

You got it bud! I don’t know about more talented, but I’ll take easy worth with above all else :)

my mind melted. this coordination was out of my hands.

Submitted

this is very different! great job! curious as to where this goes

Submitted

To see something so different to everyone else is nice and refreshing. A great idea for sure!

Submitted(+1)

That's unique for sure and is quite funny!
But tbh I feel like it loses it's charm quite fast and becomes a bit boring. So I wish there was some twist to it to make the mechanic a bit more deep or complex.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We'll see what Randy has in store for us in round 2 :)

Randy is the peak of game design

Developer

Thank you! He's certainly earned his place among other game design legends I believe.

Submitted(+1)

Love the tongue in cheek take on the unique ability. Only concern is where too from here?

Can he lick his elbow? Plug a USB in first time?

Developer

thanks! I guess we’ll have to see Randy to round 2 to find out, eh?

Submitted(+1)

This is a very positive vibe game with the unique character and unique mechanic. I did not expect this kind of character would exist. The only complain for me is that I wish we can use "W" and "S" key to pat the head instead of using the up and down arrow keys. It's still good to keep those things, but I just prefer the "W" and "S".

Overall, it's really good. Bet it would make it to the next round!

Developer

thanks bud! I’ll be sure to include W &S on the next build of Randy makes it to round 2

Jam Host(+1)

I just like the fact that patting my head is worth 178 points

Developer(+1)

well as a matter of fact, patting your head actually acts as a multiplier, so a pat can be worth an infinite amount of points! As is the case in real life.
