Such a unique idea! This is a great game jam entry: it's got an interesting gimmick, great art, and straightforward gameplay with a humorous setting. Great job!
Yet, I wonder if it's got enough room to grow in the next rounds. We'll see!
I never thought such intrusive ads could be so much fun. Really like the retro feel of the game so a big well done!
Very cool Idea with the interactable pop ups and I really like the art style.
Geez, before I even started the game I was already laughing. "Run Scam." Excellent world building and expectation setting right off the bat!
Loved the little touches through out. The ads were a joy to read, so I just sat there for a bit so I could take them all in. Loved the ending, shows how much care went into this game.
I never needed to use the numbers to enter card digits. Did I miss something, or was that cut from the build?
A quick tutorial level in the beginning would probably be a great idea so players have a more clear idea of what the change gravity button does and when to use it. I would recommend some code that recognizes jump release so you can have jump reset so that the character doesn't jump again until I've pressed jump. If I held "W" I would jump every time I hit the ground and in some of the tight spaces I didn't want to jump yet but wasn't quick enough releasing W before landing.
I saw some of your early work on this in the Discord and I was pumped to play it. I thought I'd be able to manipulate the ads to drag them in place to make my own platforms as necessary (which might be a cool addition later, along with a lot of what Ghostbit touched on), but this was a blast too. The ads came in so hectic I had to stay on top of closing them, but not closing ones I needed, so it made for a fun balance. The popup noise got repetitive. Maybe that was the point, but if you just had the one sound vary in pitch each time it could help it seem less repetitive.
Great entry. I had a lot of fun with this.
I’m pretty sure you’re making the next round.
No, I never got a pay to continue prompt. Maybe it popped up right as I was clicking other ads and I was able to skip it somehow?
Or I didn’t make it to the end? I assume the click for no more ads and then all the ads crashing my computer was the end.
the point of the first round is to make a character with a unique ability....and it kinda has that... seriously i was heavily engage in pop up ads serving as a platform was a unique idea, now you didn't need to make multiple levels, that wasn't required, you could of just made 1 level and showed us we can hop onto the ads, and that would of been it, you weren't suppose to make multiple levels. although i do appreciate it and thus that is why i was engaged and hooked. as for the character ability it was lacking, maybe you could add more to the ads then just clicking them. or waiting to get the right ad to help you move onto the next bit... if you do make it to the next round i suggest you maybe have the ability to summon ads to assist you. as to what the ads do, that is up to you get creative, and make ads that assist you in completing your level! like ill give you one for example one ad can make you bounce higher...again im just throwing ideas at you. this was my honest review. overall i ddid enjoy the game, and like i said before i was hooked at it. this idea does have potential
also don't forget to check my game out too.
I really enjoyed the simplicity of this. It really makes me feel like I just want to do my thing and the stupid ads are getting in the way :P
Fun to play also really unique! 🤩
The combination of gravity platformer with ad closing had me laughing 🔥
