Cool concept. I like the idea and growing as a slime was satisfying and fun. I like your slime character a lot, but the art didn't feel cohesive. The tileset looks like really high-res pixel art or vector art, while the character and enemies are pixel art. If you match the styles, I think you'll like the overall look better.
Great first round entry. Can't wait to see you in round two.
I tried to make my own character art but the tileset is found assets. I plan to replace all the assets with ones I make myself in future rounds.
If you play long enough you can get big enough to kill wolfs on both sides =D.
Haha, get big enough and you dont have to move anymore just feed. nom nom
I like that his slimy body is acidic, normally in games you try to avoid bumping into enemies so I think it's great that this one is different
nice!
This was a fun concept.
Thank you
Pretty good.
Thanks :)
This is cool! I especially like that you take damage and shrink when colliding with the wolves. I didnt notice this at first.
One thing that might be cool to experiment with is redrawing the slime sprite at a higher resolution as they grow. (At the moment you are just stretching the sprite so after a while the different in pixels per unit size between the character and the rest of the art is a bit jarring) But obviously thats for later and not this round :)
My plan would be to have the world scale around you like in Katamari Damacy once you reach certain thresholds, which should help reduce the number of different sprites needed for the main slime, but right now I agree past a certain point is doesn't look very good in the current form.
Cool art! Curious to see what you would do with a mechanic like this in the future since it doesn't really seem like there's a way to lose other than not collecting your slimes after.
Yeah, currently you just have the grow, shrink and collect mechanic, but I want to have different size enemies which will do more damage to you (so not worth taking on early) and smaller enemies give you less size (so not worth taking on late)
AHHH looks like we both made slime games! hope you check out my character ability too! and tell me what you think.. ok for the review!
this is a great ability! i already have several ideas for your slime already, but this is a competitions so ill keep them to myself hehehe well i loved your ability, plenty of things to do with your slime! great job
Slime guys unite!
Will be fun the see which different directions we go with the same 'character' but different takes on a unique ability
I know! It's exciting
The game feels great and I love the feeling of greed over becoming the biggest slime possible. My only complaint, and I know that this round doesnt require it, but it would greatly improve the game, is that there is no challenge. So once you'll add a challenge, the game's gonna be such a blast to play!
Yeah I have plans where there may be more punishment for taking on certain enemies before a certain size, so you have to take out little guys first then bigger guys etc.
I love the art! You even added a nice background!
Thank you, I wanted to get some slight polish in there even though its really just a demo of the ability
Nice, I love the character art, and the ability is very unique. It fits perfectly to a puzzle game
Thanks, I wanted to create my own Slime sprite as I have never done it before and was super happy with the result. I've got a lot of ideas on how to expand on this ability
