Well done for putting this together! It works well and hits the theme. Although I kept losing the cursor and wasn't sure what the syringes did
Nice game! As others have said, it was a little confusing at first for what all the towers do but I had a fun time playing your game!
Thanks for playing, I agree I should have added a popup or something telling you what the towers do, the orange shot protects from enemies a short time, the green shot decreases your damage, the green turret is precise and deals a lot of damage but has a low fire rate, and the magenta turret has a very heigh fire rate but does low damage and is not that precise so it sometimes misses enemies.
Fun game, played many waves! I loved the background art and the different bacteria which were spawning. The injection idea to boost the towers was also very creative and went really well with the theme! Great job!
Nice game with good visuals and music! I didn't know you had to pick up the pills, and the game got easy when you have a lot of defenses. Overall nice job!
I enjoyed it. It was really hard to see the cursor and I couldn't tell at first that I had to click the pills to pick them up for money. I also didn't understand what the red bar was for.
Hi, Very fun game. I liked it. I would only mention two things; It was very confusing at the beginning, I had to try a couple of times. Second, it is very easy at some point.
Very creative for an immunity tower defence. I enjoyed the music and the sound fx a lot. the two things I would comment on are:
1- make the money automatically go to your bank or make a simple mouse hover collect them because the speed at which I clicked as fast as I could never matched with their despawning speed which sort of rendered the point of killing the viruses pointless (why buy more when I cant pick up enough coin fast enough to compensate for my investment you know?
2-I also agree that yellow should be introduced in later levels, but given as a few slipped by ... but i didnt get a game over it doesnt seem consequential to keep them in HOWEVER i think their capsules should be worth more due to their speed.
Otherwise very fun game :) I enjoyed it a lot. Congrats on the submission !!
Cool concept and use of the theme! I think the yellow enemy is too difficult and should be introduced in later waves rather than right at the beginning. Also a description of the tower when hovering above them would have been nice to know for stats or something. Other than that, solid submission!
I don't normally play tower defence games, but this is pretty fun.
Thanks for the game.
Really great game! Loved variation of the enemies which allowed for strategies (e.g. the yellow ones were a MENACE at the beginning, but once I figured out the right placement they were easy to beat).
One problem I had was collection of pills/money. From what I understood the cursor was too small and difficult to find, plus collecting each of the pills individually becomes a bit of a tire especially when the de-spawn time of the pills is so short
Also the waves seemed to stop ramping up after a while? Perhaps it needs to ramp up faster?
A last thing might be the injections, I wish they had some sort of clear labelling so I knew what they did!
Otherwise it was a really good game and would love to see more done on it!
Yep, the chop chops are very annoying but also pretty funny! And the thing with the cursor is a weird webGL bug that I wish I could have fixed, it actually worked great when I tested in unity and the pill collection system I have no good excuse for, I just didn't think that thru at all. But thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and for playing the game, I actually never expected so many people to play my game!
Really fun, loved the little yellow guy running so fast but by the end it was over for him.
Real nice concept, I really like how you have to pick up the money though the time allowed to collect the money could be a little more, still was really fun!
I love tower defence games. I dont know why people dont make more of them and I think I ought to try my hand at one sometime as well. I thought your take on the theme was very clever and I appreciated the art you created for the mouth and tongue as the path (lol) - that was very creative.
Here are some things for you to consider:
- I think I would have benefitted from understanding what the difference was between the 4 items you can buy from the shop. The 'shot' type things I didnt know what you did with and I didnt use them. The turrets (green/purple) I wasnt sure what the difference between the two of them was (speed, damage, etc).
- Difficulty and wave tracking: It felt a bit too easy. Once I had the first blocks stacked with turrets, I ran multiple waves and practically no enemies made it very far beyond the mouth. I dont know if the waves get more difficult but I couldn't feel it scaling the way I would expect it too. The enemies seems very easy to kill too and could benefit from being a bit beefier and harder to kill. Understanding what wave I was on would be cool too, so I know what I need to beat when I play a second time.
The Good stuff:
- I thought the sound was great, and I enjoyed the music.
- I love the 'grid' style system you've setup for the placement of the turrets - it works perfectly. It's not actually something I know how to do yet in Unity so I'm keen to learn how its done as I could see myself adapting that mechanic.
- I liked the way the turrets rotated towards enemies and fired. It was smooth as butter and worked really well.
- I thought that mechanically this is a really good game and easily above average in that regard.
This is obviously the kind of game that you know how to make so I think it would be great to see you improve it and iterate on it, if thats something that interests you. Overall I had a lot of fun and played this a fair bit longer than I play other game jams, so well done guys - this was great fun.
yeah time is a double-edged sword when it comes to game jams I find. Too much of it and people lose interest and forget to submit their games, too little of it and you cant quite do all the stuff you wanted to do. For a first time attempt at this genre I think you've nailed the essentials. From here all it's going to be is different enemies, different maps, different towers which are all essentially iterations on what you already have and I saw some of your other ideas in the comments for a tower that collects the currency etc. This is a really good base game you've created and you could iterate on it on another jam and re-use a lot of what youve made. Also really happy you enjoyed the game I made :) I wanted to do 'just one more level' and add 'just one more mechanic' but would have to trade off on polishing the experience. Seems I made the right choice from your feedback :)
Really liked the art in this one. The gameplay loop is satisfying, especially once your setup gets strong. I agree with others that auto-pickups would help the flow a bit, but it’s still a fun little tower defense with charm. Great job!
Funny lil game. I just can say that i love tower defence games:D nice work
