Very good game, if it have a nice tutorial this will be a 10 but my congrats, it is an amazing job

Developer

There are a few pieces of tutorials that I definitely missed the mark on. Glad you had fun though :D. Thanks for the awesome comments :D.

A very nice approach on this kind of bullet hell. Rly like how the island is extending and how the progress feels.

Developer

Thank you very much! I'm glad a lot of people liked the growing/changing field.

The game loop has a lot of mechanics that work well together, I really love that the design get's me to explore the whole map as it keeps evolving. The controls took a moment to get used too, but I was able to hop around the map with confidence by the end. I also appreciate the re-spawn, probably what helps the confidence :)

Developer

AHAHAH! Thanks on that. Play testers early and often helped with the game loop. I started with something, I would hear what worked, what didn't work, when it was too boring and nothing to do. Then had to think of what to fill in that space to help it out. The day/night helped me plan a 2 step process for the game loop to get a time of action and a time of "rest".

Great game, the game loop really works. Fun to play and well thought out. Well done.

Developer

Thank you very much dominiaukad!

Congrats on your submission! This was a really fun game! It is very polished and clear a lot of work went into it. The combat is very satisfying, especially when you line up a fully charged shot. Also the visuals are beautiful! I would have liked to have been able to return to the tree on my own without having to fall off the edge, but that's my only criticism. Or maybe i'm just bad at it and you can return to the tree by platforming. Anyway, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for the kind words. I could have communicated the jumping mechanics more like there is a double jump. That the jump is variable (when you let go, you start going down) unless you hit the peak. You can jump through the bottom of the stone platforms as well as the leaf blocks, etc. Hugely appreciate your awesome words :D.

Submitted(+1)

Ah thats it, I didnt realize there was a double jump! Il have to give it another try with that knowledge.

Developer

All good. I could communicate that better, and place blocks in a better way to help teach that

Submitted(+1)

Really solid game. If you tightened up the movement it would be near-perfect imo

Developer

Thanks RosenRGD! It was really fun to put together.

This is actually such a great idea, such an addictive gameloop, this would become a very fun roguelike with abilities for both the player and the world and of course some actual polish. However, i must tell you that i hate that ui, if you plan to continue developing this game (which i think you should and inform me whether you will) make sure to change it, i also feel like the game lacks juice and polish, which is normal for a jam game but disturbs the experience Overall amazing job!

Developer

Thanks Artkil. Glad you had a good time and I'll be jotting down your comments. Yeah, I would have loved to have had a "here are 3 randomized powerups for you to choose from" at each level up.

Developer

Hi Ardkil, I just wanted to let you know, since you asked ;), that I will be making this into a full commercial game due to the great overwhelming feedback and interest.

A very fun game to play — it has the aesthetics, the theme, and the gameplay. A great example of level and environment scalability, congrats. There are a few small tweaks needed, which have already been mentioned here, but it’s a great delivery.

Developer

Thanks! Glad you had fun. I appreciate your time playing it and for sure on some things to tweak...aren't there always? My last hour was finding something else to adjust every 5 minutes. LOL!

Brilliantly made! This has so many elements which work so well seamlessly.. the combat, the levelling up, the tower defense part. Really polished! Loved playing it, great job! There are so many satisfying effects like when the spear is fully charged.. wow!

Developer(+1)

Thanks The2lu. I'm glad you like it. A lot of that came from awesome play testers with early comments and filling in gaps. I'm super happy at how it is received and the joy many are getting playing it.

This was a very relaxing game. Casual and fun to play. The only feedback I can provide is the arrows are not clear at first, also enemies are not indicated using arrows either, so I spent most the time flying around the map trying to figure out where the enemy was, the sound did help a lot though.

Developer

Thanks TributeGames. Yeah, that was some feedback I got from someone else as well with some awesome suggestions. I didn't have time to adjust it. BUT it is something worth me looking into and tightening up. Just thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it :D I appreciate the feedback :D.

Nice game! The look is amazing, and throwing arrows at bugs is so fun. Great game!

Developer

I like what you've done in regards to the evolving nature of the platforms particularly for tree roots. The game was really fun! I got to lv11 ^.^ - I think my biggest first experience feedback is I felt like I wasnt getting enough essence to repair AND level the tree. And secondly I had struggles trying to jump, like sometimes the double jump/jumpnig would work and other times it ignored me and I just fell.
But overall was a really good game and concept! Congrats!

Developer

Way to go on reaching level 11! lv 16 is the highest for the tree's growth. Huge thank you on the awesome feedback. I can use it for tweaking the values to help balance it more. Jumping is definitely something I'm going to look into on how to get it to feel better. Glad you had fun and thank you for playing!

Nice graphics and very cool sound effects that evoke nostalgia!

Developer

Thanks Tim. The sound took me a while to find that vibe I wanted to go with. At first I was grabbing whatever sound bites, but once I found chiptune sounds, and how that fit with the pixel art, I knew it had to be that.

Super addictive gameplay loop. the expanding game world made for a very natural difficulty creep and the day night cycle made for a nice break in the action. the art is beautiful and the animation is lively, overall probably the best jam game ive played so far.

Developer

Aww. Thank you Dreganeite. I'm glad you liked it.

Submitted(+1)

Cool game, I don't think I've ever played anything like it, and it was really fun. It took me a while to understand that I could jump more than once, but that was probably my fault.

Developer

Thanks Or. Glad you had fun and I could have added a few more tutorial pop-ups to notify on double jumping, interacting with the slime ball looking things in trees, that you can jump into the trees, etc

If it is further developed to be able to play in CO-OP mode, I think it will be even more fun because I will be able to play with my friends.

Developer

Ooo! Co-op would be something interesting to try for this if I develop it further. Thanks for the idea ;).

I am not very good at these type of games, so it took me 16 days of struggle. I thought the spear was charged when it turned red, but it turns out you have to hold the mouse button a little bit longer. Also, it’s nice that you can teleport back to the tree by falling off the screen. I felt like I know what I was doing after I figured those two things out. Your art is really awesome.

Developer

Not bad. That's an average of 1 level a day. And I see I need to fix the UI scaling on that screen. I wish I had time to finish that final drawing and colour it. Glad you got there and played it to the end!

Submitted(+1)

Good initial concept and mechanics! I like the art as well, and see a lot of potential. Good luck!

Thanks!
