Rated - Really cool idea, definitely polish it up after the jam. I haven' played an RTS in a long time, it was fun!  Also, good job learning how to code this!  Great job.  Please check out my game when you can~ good day!

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback !

The game is very good and fun, the graphics are smooth and polished, the music was good, unfortunately it crashed before I reached the end, what is the connection with the theme?

Developer (1 edit)

The music ? There is no music... not sure what you mean by that.

It "crashes" when you win or lose, actually. The connection to the theme is that the game misleads you - it encourages you to strip mine the map as coldly and efficiently as possible but that only hastens your death - the "corruption" that comes in fact depends on how much Equirium there is left on the map. As such you can completely avoid it if you're patient ! Just gotta let the metal regenerate regularly, sort of lay the mines "fallow".

A simpler interpretation of the theme is the lie about the game's difficulty too. At first it's really easy, the natives don't attack you. All you (think you) have to do is just taking the map over and win. The corruption puts that notion under the ground.

Thanks a lot for your feedback, and for playing ! :)

Now I get it! Thanks for the answer😁 and for the music maybe I had some music playing and I didn't notice😅

Developer

That would explain it, I was doubting the fact the rythm of the mining sound somehow sounded like music to you :p

This is really a good game. I could spend hours playing this. The game felt smooth to play. You should continue building this game. Overall a well made game.

Developer

Thank you :) Maybe I will  !

So do I ! :D Thank you for you feedback friend :)

No way, you did so well, I love these kinds of games! I'm really impressed with how much is in there already!

Submitted(+1)

Only one more rating I see, fingers crossed ;)

Developer

Fingers crossed indeed ! Thank you for your feedback friend :)

I can't, for what's worth, finish conquer everything. I mean, I tried protecting the crap out of one mine, tried developing a lot of troops, but nothing. The troops' movement doesn't seem to work when those awful enemies attack.

But still 20/10 game

Developer

Perhaps because conquering everything is not the right move :p Read the comment on the game's page ?

Thanks a lot for playing man, and also for being on stream so much. Looking forward to seeing you again when I stream tomorrow (hopefully) !

UPDATE: I DID IT!

Spent 1h and 30 mins but I did it!

Developer

Holy hell man calm down please. Just breath. You spent so much time playing my game ?

Submitted

I spent over 10h in total I think

Amazing game! The only thing I would suggest is adding music. Love the models.

So much content in a game. Was confusing at first, but I had fun playing it!

Will definitely play it again if I have time.

Developer

Music would be among my top priorities if I started working on this again. Your comment helped emphasize its importance. Now I want to go pay someone to make tons of nice battle musics and code an epic transition system like in Planetary Annihilation. GOD DAMN IT

After 2h of trying (I remembered the theme of the jam a bit late), I won, and the game instantly quit.... not even victory message :'(

I had more fun trying to kill dark monsters than waiting equirium to get a population of 1000.

I hope you will add music, and maybe rework on the graphics of the UI.

I really enjoyed your game and there is a lot of work for only one week. Nice job!

Developer(+1)

You... won ? I didn't expect any tester to have the patience to win. I'm honored you'd spend 2 hours of my time on my game ! And yeah, sorry about the lack of Game Over / Victory screen, didn't really have time (could have made something really simple I guess).

I hope this victory surrounded by hearts : <3 VICTORY YOU'RE THE BEST YAAAY <3

is sufficient replacement.

Wow - amazing game - so much content - well done :)

Developer

Thank you :)

Really impressive game.

Seems like a lot of work, respect for doing a rts in one week.

Developer

Thanks ! Yea I grinded away at this like crazy. Kinda drove me nuts towards the end. But what's losing a few neurons to insanity ?

Submitted(+1)

Omg this amount of content in a week is pretty damn phenominal! I felt the UI was pretty confusing at first but once I got my head around it I felt it was all very clean and easy to use. Nice to see you got in lots of handy RTS elements like clicking the minimap and group selection down pat- and the unit ai all behaved real nicely. Overall, good game and great job! I will now go weep for my little settlement...

Developer

I shall weep with you. Seeing so many of my hand crafted models just get killed... URGH

Really good game. It has a lot of content for a jam game. My only complaint is that there is no pause button but other than that it was rather enjoyable.

Picture of my beautiful kingdom seconds before annihilation

Developer

You can "sorta" pause the game by restarting the tutorial but yea I agree with you. Should be a basic feature.
I grant you three "OooOof" to help you cope with your loss :)) Thanks for your feedback Crazy !

This is an impressive amount of content for a 1 week game jam. I appreciated the simple art style of the characters an enemies. I think it is an interesting take on the theme. I got quite far before the enemies started spawning. Watchtowers were good until the dogs came out.

I grasped the concept quite easily, but an RTS is risky business for a game jam :) I really like that its not another platformer. You could make the UI more minimalistic without sacrificing any information and maybe show the tutorials with pictures of the buildings.

Developer

Yea the tutorial needs a major overhaul. Didn't really have time for anything more "hand holding" than text and animated arrows (on saturday morning there still wasn't any tutorial at all lol). Thanks for your feedback !

This Game is amazing! I had a lot of fun playing it!

I would love it, if you also try out my game =)

Developer(+1)

Will do ! I'll be streaming during the week to test games, you'll be able to find my stream thread on the forums. More likely I'll test your game during the stream if you post it in the list, but I'll try to think about it either way. Thanks for your feedback !

Great game, love the sound design :D

Developer

The Sound Design ? Of all things ? Really ? Well then, thanks I guess x)

Submitted(+1)

It's a bit confuse at the beginning. But when I know that I have to build 5 houses first, the game become playable.  When I was almost captured all mines, the sky turn black and new enemies spawn. This is so unexpected. My armies are far from my house, I messed up.

Here are some downside of the game:

  • UI could be more user friendly
  • beginning tutorial could be more detailed, since it's kinda hard core strategic game
  • lastly, BGM and more sound effect will be great

Overall, this is a good game!

Developer(+1)

Hey there ! Thanks a lot for playing my game, I know it's hard to get into.

Interesting you say that about the tutorial - before I shrunk it down to its current size it was a novel, but very precise. People have been telling me it's still too long and complicated as it is, but I guess it really depends on the audience I'm going for. I'm definitely part of that gamer population who like complicated games that are harder to jump into. Not the best for a Game Jam tho :S

Thanks for these tips, I'll definitely work on those if I get back to that project later. Need a break from it right now xD

Submitted

Yes. Go ahead and take a rest, you deserve a good sleep ;)

Submitted(+1)

Great job! Alot of content for a game made within a week!

Developer

Thanks again for playing my game. I know it was hard to get into and I feel very bad you couldn't enjoy it as it was intended. I guess I assumed all along that players would be familiar with RTS games and all that, so I made a lot of bad assumptions. That's all my fault, and you helped showing me that and how exactly.

Submitted(+1)

So just visually when i started to play the game, i could tell there is alot of work involved in this game. Good innovation in terms of the game idea! Would hope to see this game get more polish after the Game Jam!

Developer

Hey ! Yea maybe I will. If you have ideas for extra stuff to implement I'm all ears.  Thanks a lot for taking the time to test it :)

Submitted(+1)

Wow. You managed to make a lot of stuff in one week!

I wished you divided the tutorial on a few different levels, though. It was quite a lot to take in!

Congrats! Check our my game later if you can. ;)
