The art was nice, but the music volume was very low. The puzzles in the starting area were fun, but I really didn't enjoy the stuff in the vents and eventually just stopped playing.
aaaahhh I was so sad when I couldn't pick up the last key!!! Really enjoyed playing this though. The artwork is EXCELLENT, the music is fitting and the puzzles are fun. At first I was wondering why it was necessary to only move one space at a time, but when the enemies showed up that became clear. I liked the little dance we had to dance, made it more interesting. I want to play more like this game but way longer! Although my fingers might fall off from pressing WASD so much, lol. Well done!!! If you fix that key bug I will come back and play again after the jam!
If you have time, I would love to hear what you think of our entry too:

Too bad about the bug with the keys in the living room. At first I was kinda meh but when I saw the players reflection in the puddle and saw red eyes, I was hooked. I hate puzzle games but this got me sucked in. Seriously a great entry!
Good story and nice puzzles. Great game,
Played and rated! I really liked your game!
Don't forget to rate my game please: https://itch.io/jam/cgj/rate/476599
Graphics and mood are great! I love your style.
Good job !
Good mind game !!!! But we have to press WASD every time we move...Else it was fun ..Rated !!!
Check my game and rate it tooo....https://itch.io/jam/cgj/rate/476873
Saw this cute kid on some comments!
I loved your style and the attention to details like the reflection on the water. The audio, graphics... It all together make this game super cool.
The only thing that is a bit frustrating is the controls as some said. I've read the message about the enemies moving after you. Maybe a timer could be implemented like if you keep pressing, every second you move (so enemies do)? Don't know, just a suggestion.
Good job anyway!!
a bit tired of hammering the same button over and over, perhaps when it gets to the next position it checks if the player is pressing the button then recalls the move fuction. could implement this with an invoke() or at the end of the animation have an animation event that checks if another key is being pressed
Gorgeous monochrome graphics and theme implementation!
Liked the twist at the end as well as the level design! My only complaint is regarding the controls that you have to repeat press key to get forward, instead of one continuous press, which was especially damaging to the otherwise great experience I had during the maze level (well designed and thought through). Very good entry and very original! I would love to play a sequel (if the child manages to escape his predicament at the end hehe)!
This actually was a pretty good game. Trust me, this is coming from a person that doesn't play dark games. (Ironic, that I made a game with a dark atmosphere.)
The music brought me into the game, the pixel art is unbelievable. especially when the dark shadows throw you in... is it some kind of prison? The only reason why I stopped playing was, whether I could unlock the door after killing like, 5 enemies.
Great job on this game though!
And one more thing, can you play my game and rate it? I want this game to be known by many.
Yeah sadly there is a bug where you cannot pick up that last key, but if you want to know the ending just go to the itch.io page. Link is at the top, and read the spoilers at the bottom of that page. And thank you so much! It was a lot of work but I am glad people are really enjoying the game! I really enjoyed your game as well and gave it a great rating! Great job!
There is one bug that makes the ending of the game impossible but it is right at the end of the game anyway. Go to the itch.io page to see what happens and how it fits the theme
OMG!!!! The game has fantastic art and music..Won't lie..I got stuck in the vents..And it was a little hard to understand the game...
And just curious..Did you use the Sprite Mask to make the reflections and the Vent Lighting?
I did! And yeah the vents can be tricky. The story is finished after it
That was really creative with the reflections..Gave me an idea of my own :D
Haha i'm glad to have inspired you! Masks are really fun to play with!
I'll definitely try it out now..Thanks for the inspiration :)
The game lacked instructions and the controls could have been better pressing wasd everytime instead of just holding the button down is kind of annoying ...... the graphics are fantastic give me an undertale and og gameboy vibes! and I loved the audio and the main aim of the game it was enjoyable!
I would appreciate if you rated my game as well! Thank you
The movement was because the enemies move after you, so it is like a turn based movement system. The enemies show up after the vents. But I understand where you are coming from. Thank you! I rated your game as well!
This is amazing, it looks really good and the music is amazing as well, but I think I got stuck in the vents. Amazing work though, really enjoyed it :D
Thank you! Yeah the vents can be confusing with it being so dark!
nice game dudes i really love your style!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
Oh trust me, it was quite the endeavor! The last day i didn't even sleep, I worked for like 33 Hours straight!
Wow, it's a great game! Loved the art style and music too :)
Thank you so much!
Nice game, loved the creepy art!
Thank you! My brother worked hard on it!
Awesome work, love the look, the atmosphere and the level design. At first I was annoyed by only being able to move one tile at a time but then facing the enemies it made sense ;) Well done!
Thank you! Yeah I wish I could bring in the enemies sooner, so people knew why movement was one at a time, but I couldn't rework what I've done by that point.
