I really enjoyed the the game mechanics in this one! Being able to change perspectives and command the character is nice. I was able to beat the first 2 levels.

Developer

Glad you liked and could beat it :) Thank you for playing

Fun little game! I liked the dialogue between the two characters and the movement mechanic. Your team did a great job of integrating the visual theme with your gameplay mechanics. My only complaint is that the character was sometimes too slow to catch up with the mummies to bump into them. Congrats on finishing the game jam and I hope you're able to finish your goals for the game itself!

We noticed the speed-issues too and will revisit that. At first we planned them walking to different checkpoints AND if the character makes to much noise even to him, but I couldn't start getting into 3d-navigation, so that's a future-me-problem :D In that case, there would have been stops, which would have reduced that problem. It is possible by now, it is just a bit hard on some of them. Glad you liked it, thank you for your feedback and for playing!

Really nice game!

Good dialogue system, nice pace and change of difficulty among levels. The concept is quite nice.

Great work!

Developer

Glad you liked it, thank you for playing :)

This game was really engaging. I enjoyed the dialogue a lot in addition to the cutscenes during it, I think you guys did a great job with writing the story before the game starts. The character desisgn for them both is pretty cute too! Good job ^^

Developer

Yeah, my partner designed these models while I did the code and some of the dialogue, I like them too. We had a bit more casual lines during the level, but due to a bug you can't see them most of the time :( We'll revisited that after voting ends

Glad you liked it, thanks for playing :)

I really love the concept. It reminded me of the movie Night at the Museum. I liked the dialogues, casual yet never boring. The gameplay is very clever and makes wonderful use of the visual theme. I liked switching between cameras. However, the controls were very confusing for me, and because of the camera angles, I often found myself bumping into something or getting stuck somewhere. I can see a lot of potential in this game, but it needs some work on the controls.

Great work.

Developer

Haven't seen the movie yet, but I get that you find that connection. We need to update the collision boxes in some places to prevent getting stuck (or maybe a restart-checkpoint-button if we are lazy) but there is need for finetuning on the different cameras too that they complement each other better. Thank you for your feedback and for playing :)

Creative gameplay and great premise and story/writing! Great submission!

Cool gameplay mechanic! Love how their dialogue portrait can change expression!

Thank you :)

I like the "remote control" idea, and it was the voiceover really sold me on it.  It got me thinking about contextual lines for actions (like "push") or hints, maybe even replacing UI (such as the narrator or the remote guard having voice lines that trigger at low health, etc.)

Really just a ton of promise here!

Developer

Thank you :) We have some contextual lines that weren't voiced but didn't display when you are close to the screenborders. I'm working on fixing that (or voicing everything xD)

I like the story, the concept and the visuals and I think it fits the theme very well. However, I think mechanics could use a bit of work. I get the idea of giving directions to another person, but it feels somewhat disjoint, despite Tom reacting immediately. Maybe it would be a bit easier to control if the 'Move forward' command would move you just one floor tile, so that you have more control on where you end up and don't feel like you are gliding around. And in that case maybe mummies also could have difference of speed, like they could stand in some spots, instead of just constantly walking. But great job overall!

Developer

The maps aren't tilebased, which would require an entire rebuild of them. Mummies standing/pausing was initially planned with them actually hearing you when you run into obstacles too often, but was scrapped because I have no experience with 3d navigation by now, so they currently walk a static pat . Glad you liked it, thanks for playing :)

Really cool game and concept. I liked some of the humour in the dialogue, especially the "they're called sarcophagus...ess..is" :)

The controls were a little difficult to deal with, but I can understand that having it this way feels more like you play as Sue directing Tom, whereas having WASD might feel more like you're controlling Tom directly whilst being watched by Sue.

I agree with @PeterMorgan that some more variety to the command voice lines would help add some extra polish, but really nice entry to the jam! Great stuff!

Developer

Thank you for playing! We want to polish once rating is over and at least finish the 3rd level and the planned outro-sequence. It's a bit sad that some of the humor we added wasn't visible ("punch-lines" haha) due to a viewport bug.

Submitted

I'd be interested to play the polished up version!

Great job on this game idea and implementation.

It's a fun game premise, a puzzle game when you're narrating someone else.

I might suggest adding keyboard shortcuts for the commands,.. maybe  WASD/arrow keys or somthing, but it added to the difficulty, having to remember whose right/left you was saying :D.

Polished versions needs some more fun dialogue,.. "no the other left!" :P

Well done!

Developer(+1)

Hey, thank you for playing. I get that it's a bit tricky without direct controls, but from our perspective that was the whole point :D We wanted it to be difficult to control, BECAUSE you tell someone on the radio what to do :)

As for fun dialogue, we actually had some as pseudo-speech-bubbles if you run into a wall to often and even every time you shove a mummy, but I couldn't wrap my head around the math of translating the 3d space of the monitor-scene to coordinates in the watchroom-scene and a lot ended up being outside the viewport (and we are very sad about that). If you stand somewhere near the center, you might see this. We didn't have enough time to voiceover everything, as we added sound just a few hours before the deadline.

Thank you for your feedback :)

Funny little game with much potential. Good job!

If you came back and polished this game after the game jam, something really nice would come out! great job, that's a really nice idea

Developer

Thank you for your kind words :)

Really interesting idea in your game — the museum setting with the security-camera twist gave it a fun cat-and-mouse feel. I ran into a bug where the mummy would sometimes glide through walls when I switched camera feeds too quickly, which broke the tension a bit. It might help to add a visual or audio cue when camera switching is possible, and maybe slow down the transition a little so players don’t accidentally lose track. Thanks so much and best of luck in the jam! 🎃

If you’ve got a moment, I’d love it if you checked out my game and dropped a rating: https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-halloween-jam-2025/rate/3971977

— thanks so much and best of luck in the jam! 🎃

Developer

Hm... I didn't run into that bug by now, I have to check that. They walk on a defined path they don't leave, it maybe a graphical error. Camera switching is always possible, so no need to signal. Thanks for playing and giving feedback :)

That's a nice game. It needs polishing but idea is really interesting.

Developer

Thank you. I know, will do ;)

This is awesome!

I had wanted to do something with security cameras at first too, but I couldn't think of anything that wasn't something like Five Nights at Freddy's or Observation Duty. But this is perfect! Great concept, and great execution on it. Would have loved to play longer, but getting a proof of concept are exactly what game jams are for. And you nailed it!

Incredible job to both of you, hope you're both proud of what you accomplished!

Developer

I can't say I played FNAF or OD. We are glad you liked it, we had a good time making it. Thank you for playing

Both the storyline and the incorporation of the gamejam's theme are very impressive!  That's very creative and effective to use the theme of the TV as a security guard's monitor, and even to play the game through it!  The music fits well, and the limited but well-placed sound effects fit in well too.  I like the low-poly style of the graphics also - it somehow adds something to the game's experience that high-poly graphics would omit.  If I can offer a constructive criticism and friendly advice, the gameplay mechanics need some more work and improvement.  I found it difficult to navigate and control the player.  I wasn't sure either how to push the wandering mummy back into the casket, though I tried a number of times.  But other than that, I think you have a really creative and well thought-out game here.  Again, the storyline is really strong and provides the context and premise of the game.  Also, the character dialog "billboard" system is really a neat feature too.  Good job creating this!

Developer

Thank you for your comprehensive feedback! The whole collision thing needs work, it is a very basic implementation by now. The controls are a bit tricky, they are meant to be more difficult as you direct per "voice commands", but it still needs to be fun, so I'll think about that. We are glad you liked the other stuff

Submitted

Very interesting game! Once I got how to control everything I spent some good time in this museum!

The only thing I can propose is to add some effect on the camera, so it look more like a night vision camera, it would add a lot to the immersion.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I wanted to do that, but the green ambient light I added to the environment somehow didn't render though the secondary viewport and I ended up debugging other stuff. I'll give that another look after voting ends. I wanted to start looking into shaders anyway, so I hope I can get a more crt style too. Thank you for playing ;)

  • Super cool idea
  • The dialogue and little faces cracked me up.

  • Not gonna lie, I couldn’t figure out how to beat the first level 😅

  • Controls felt a little weird at first but fit the vibe.

  • Would totally play more if you add new levels or creatures.

  • It reminded me of night at the museum

Developer

I actually haven't seen the movie yet, but I know the trailer so I get the resemblance. My teammate did a cute job with the funny faces :)

The non-cheesy way to defeat the mummies would be to wait behind one of the boxes until the mummy comes over and start walking shortly after it turned towards the top or bottom. But there is another cheesy way I didn't fix because it allowed faster playtesting ;p thank you for playing :)
