Fun game, gives me a big arcade-like feeling. I liked the intro, very creative. Good job!
Thanks for playing! The intro took me the most time and effort so I'm glad you liked it. Cheers!
Save the animals!
Yeah I'm honestly not too sure how well the animals fare in the bottom of the boat but hey, better than insta-death from a purple wave!
Really fun little game and quite enjoyable, it was very easy to play and had a pleasing aesthetic. Nice job.
Thanks a lot for playing Gale, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
A fun game with a core idea which you can build on in the future! Lots of juice on catching the fish but the difficulty curve does ramp up quite the bit
Hey Ron, thank you for playing my game! I did try to make it satisfying when you hooked something, so thanks for noticing. The overall difficulty curve I adjusted a few times and was never quite happy with, but eventually I just had to call it a day and submit!
Pretty fun game! Only complaint I have is that toward the end it becomes basically impossible to recover any animals alive lol but it’s pretty minor. Overall very solid.
Hey Jordan, thanks for playing! I appreciate your feedback. I completely agree, I am not quite happy with how the game ends at this point, but it felt weird to end it before the wave hit the edge of the screen. Ultimately I left it as a post-jam problem!
Fun, simple little game. Intuitive controls, good sense of urgency at the end. R.I.P. all the fish I missed.
Thank you playing my game incogleto, and thanks for commenting! I'm glad the controls felt good to you, I did adjust the numbers a few times. RIP fishies.
was hoping there'd be a fishing game, the intro was well done :)
Thanks for playing Jonny! Yeah tbh it took at least half of my time to do haha, cheers.
Simple but fun.
Fish mini-games are always fun to play^^
i wonder what is the highest score lol
Thanks for playing PouPou! Yeah I love finding fishing mini-games in other games, like MMOs. A high score board would have been awesome to add a sense of competitiveness, maybe next jam!
This was fun, I enjoyed it. Good job!
Thank you so much for playing neutrix!
It's pretty good. I would suggest actually making the wave goes faster near the end of the level though.
And I'm sure the fisherman caught all the fishes just to "protect" them.
Thank you for playing Xas. A variable speed wave is a great idea, to increase the urgency along with the music.
Haha yes I was considering a big seafood cookout scene on the gameover screen!
Cool TIC-80 title. I think you did a good job at spicing up the art assets and the story was charming.
Thanks for playing Alex :) I appreciate the compliments very much.
Nice game, enjoyed the speeding up music.
Thanks John! That feature was surprisingly tricky with the limits of the fantasy console I used, so thank you for noticing!
Nice and simple :)
I really enjoyed playing. Maybe it can be a bit more challenging if there was more bad things you can pull out (like, maybe a bomb that destroy nearby objects when you touch it, or a power up that gives you super speed for a couple of seconds).
Overall very polished and fun. Keep it up! :D
Hi Nemo, thanks for playing! Yeah I kept things super simple as it had been quite a while since my last jam. I would have liked to add some powerups like you said, or even items that push the wave back so you can play longer. Thanks for your feedback, I've added your game to my To-Play list!
Fishes in the game be like
Nice Game :D didnt think of a finishing game with hook
Haha cheers DayHam. I have a thing for fishing minigames so I thought I'd try my hand at making one. It was just luck that I found a hook in the asset pack. I've added your game to my list and I'll try to rate and comment soon.
Fun simple game! Although I agree, the dithering does get annoying towards the end. Nice to see another fish related game though!
Thanks for playing! I had planned a nicer particle effect for the wave as it does look a bit flickery/weird once it's covering most of the screen, unfortunately (as is always the case with jams) I just didn't have the time! I appreciate the feedback.
A lot of fun! It got really tense near the end, and although its simple I still feel like I was able to come up with some kind of strategy.
My best score was 10001 which i think is pretty decent (i got most of the animals)
Nice score, just cracked 10k! Thanks so much for playing and for your comment :)
i love how well you painted all the sprites; i almost didn't recognize them being from the art pack at first, and they all fit together so well in the fantasy console style.
one small thing that i'd like is some kind of ranking on my score at the end, to give me some idea of how well i did.
Thank you! I considered staying truly 1-bit but I thought adding some colour would be OK, I'm glad you liked it. A ranking at the end is a great idea, I was considering adding a couple of stats too to show how many animals you saved/lost. Thanks again for playing!
Great game love these old arcade style games! Keep up the good work! :D
Thanks mate I appreciate your comment, I'll jump over and give your game a shot now!
Reply with a screenshot of your highest score, and at the end of the rating period I'll gift the highest with a pro version of TIC-80, the fantasy console I used to create HOOKED.
Nice game idea! One issue I ran into was that after a while the game and especially the audio start lagging, I don't know if this is the way it's intended (maybe because the water is so polluted)?
Hey Bas cheers for taking the time to play and comment. Definitely not intended! It's the result of some expensive (dodgy) code. I plan to patch it before the jam ends. Thanks again, I've added your game to my to-play list.
