Absolutely brilliant game, there was some stick to the controls in a few areas but I loved everything else about it! Really cool concept and art design, the game wasn't too difficult but it made me feel smart when I overcame an obstacle, honestly reminded me of Portal. Good job!
Thank you for this heart-warming comment !
Wow, nice job! I really liked how one needs to think in order to proceed in this game, although I must say that not having precision in the controls make the game feel a little... not so enjoyable (for me!). The thing about difficulty-based games is that they let you "grow" and gain control of the situation, and I didn't feel like that very much. And a thing that you mentioned in other comments is that it has a story, but it's not clear enough that it does. You did an awesome project in three days, but if you want to add that story as an important feature in your game, consider giving more "life" or "dimension" (if that makes sense) hahaha. Keep going with the great work!
I see what you mean for the controls precision. If I were to continue building on this concept, I would rather flesh out the story side of it, and create puzzles involving no precision, but rather a good understanding of what is in each dimension and how an action in one dimension can have an impact on another.
Very good! The mechanics are innovative and you make a very nice use of the limitation. I think I'd enjoy it better if there was a standalone version due to the framerate, but that's my PC and browser's fault and it won't influence my rating. The purple things made me genuinely desperate to not touch them.
Oh sorry to read that you had a performance issue... Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to code an instancing system for the decoration, so it's heavy in polygons. I have many regrets for this game and this one ranks high...
this is awesome and underated the graphic and the mechanic are just awesome the detail but i dont find it futuristic theme more like another dimension.
Thank you for playing !
This game tells the story of a research centre disaster happening in the future because of the cube you are controlling. If you pay attention about the decoration in the different dimensions, there is a timeline going on : it starts on the bottom, where the research centre is all fine and neat. Then the disaster happen and the centre is abandoned, that's the dimension on the left. Then nature develops again on the ruins, that's the dimension on the right. Then it's all flooded by rain, dimension on the top. When you finish the game there is no choice but to let yourself fall, that's to say using the bottom dimension, the start of the timeline. If I've had more time I would have added an explosion at the end when you touch the ground, which would have made the concept more obvious. Anyway the end was so hard, few people reached it.
I wanted to interpret the theme future as a story theme.
whoa that is awesome story u should write it on the depscription. maybe its underated becuz the character just a cube. if the cube is a human figure it make it more interesting and more adding lore to it. LOVE THE GAME
Now that's a trippy concept !
I really liked the art direction and the control scheme, it was really responsive. Although the lack of sounds makes it odd, but the art more than makes up for it !
Great job !
Thank you, next jam I will try to find a musician to team up with, coz I really don't feel like doing that myself.
Nice going!
Original use of the limitation and a very trippy adventure. A nice sound track would have definately made a difference. You should consider adding one after the voting.
Is the game a comentary on work/office and confinement? Seems their was something symbolic going on. :)
In terms of gameplay: thanks for the well calibrated checkpoint system. Without it, the game would have been too hard! (Still a bit hard, I would argue. Didn't make it to the end.)
Cheers,
Thank you for playing and for your feedback,
I didn't think about the confinement while doing this game ! But I did hope to have the players make up their own story, like in Inside. There was more or less a story to find out, but I didn't have enough time to add enough details to flesh it out. It's the story of a research lab that got abandoned after a disaster, and the player is the cause of the disaster. If you look into each dimensions, the bottom one is the first in the timeline, all the others happen after the disaster ( chairs are thrown away, vegetation ramps up.. ). When you get to the end of the game, you have no choice but to let yourself fall straight in the bottom dimension, which is to say the earlier one.
If I'd got more time, when reaching the ground I would have created a nice animation of the upper dimension disappearing, and something like an explosion or chemicals leak to show the disaster happening and explaining the abandon of the lab.
I really enjoyed moving around looking at all the cool artwork and then I got all the way to the downwards tunnel full of purple stuff and I had to give up cause it was so hard, I did enjoy it though, well done!
Cool game! The art was absolutely great, and the controls felt really smooth and nice to use. I loved that each dimension also had a different colour scheme. The only issue was that at the end it was really hard to get through all the purple things, as I had trouble slowing down on the tight turns, but regardless it was a super interesting and good game.
Nice game for solo developer
Surprisingly chill and trippy at the same time. The mechanic is very unique and gels well with the limitation.
The concept is nice, but there is one thing I found odd. It doesn't provide clear direction of where I am suppose to go and do. And the lack of sound make it more odd. The art and environment is well made. Well done.
Well I did it solo, so no time for sound sorry.
No need to say sorry mate, your concept is really nice.
Wow, that was a really cool concept, and a great use of the color palette too. I’m thankful there was checkpoints because the first purple thing got me by surprise, i ended up giving up when i got to the fall full of purple things and it became kind of frustrating controlling the fall, but overall a pretty cool game, very intuitive too :D
This is a really good concept, and I like the application too.
Switching between dimensions is made pretty intuitively and the aesthetic makes a good use of the limitation. I do wish the controlling part was a bit smoother tho, game requires a lot of tight turns, which is a bit annoying(thank god for checkpoints), and going uphill just by horizontal force is a bit slow and made me wonder if it was really the way to go... which I'm still not sure, I could be just playing it wrong.
Additionally, dimensions having different backgrounds is really cool looking, but it made me kinda wish it also had few differences in level design, rather then just physics.
overall, pretty lovely!
Thank you for playing !
Yes the worlds were initially made to have differences in it, it's actually four physical worlds and the box is transferred from one to the other. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to add physics body and collectables in each world... I'm pondering building on this concept for a more polished game out of the jam.
This is really cool! I can't figure out how to get out of the first scene, but I loved the control and use of colors! Really excellent way to use the Limitation in your Gameplay.
Ok, I figured it out. Very cool! Nice work!
This is a really nice execution of the limitation, took me some figuring that i could go more places than the first level. Very well done.
Really cool concept. Plays very nicely with the visual limitation and paces itself well. I also had some trouble towards the end but I thought this was okay as I'd already got a good amount out of the game!
Soo, I love and hate this.
I loved the begining and thought this was going to be a nice exploration game and it was for the most part it had lots of beautiful scenes and an interesting mechanic. Then the last bit of the game with the droppers and the tight turns made me really upsetti spaghetti. I was so glad there were checkpoints and in all honesty if I had the ability to slow down faster or maybe travel at a more controlled pace it would have been different, minor inconveniences were things like not being able to see some doorways like when you're coming out of the office. Overall other than the ending section this was a really pleasant experience, good job.
Thanks for playing mate !
I totally agree that the end is too tough. When I did the level design I didn't realise that, and then when I did it was too late to change, I had only one day left before the end of the jam and all the graphics to do.
I may come back to this concept later, and will definitely focus more on the exploration and storytelling.
