Wow, I played this for much longer than I would like to admit haha! I got really far actually. The music fit the theme of the game perfectly. The art style kind of reminded me of "Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends" for some odd reason. At first I didn't quite get how to play the game but I learned after a bit. The game is well polished, simple and progressed nicely!  How did the team create so many character variations?

Developer

Thank you :) We made it so every part of the character (skin, clothes, hair, hats, facial features and accessories) are independently made, so that we can shuffle these elements for each character. There are 4 skins, 14 clothes, 16 hairs, 5 hats, 18 facial features and 6 accessories, so if you were to check how many character possibilities there are, it would be : 4 x 14 x 16 x 5 x 18 x 6 = 483840 different characters :D

I absolutely adore the music and the art! The concept is very simple but there's been a lot of attention to detail. I love it.

Thanks a lot !

The art is gorgeous, bravo ! The music and sounds fit perfectly.

The concept was fun but honestly I didn't get it at first, I didn't understand that I had to look carefully at the person beside the bed before the game. If you want to upgrade it a bit after the jam, you should add explicit instructions in a dialog box like "watch the person that will betray you tomorrow" and "now if you see them coming, click on them before it's too late".

Developer

Thanks ! Yeah I think we could have added a bit more to the "How To" in the menu, or even a little tutorial.

Well done!

Your interpretation of the theme is spot on. The art is great and uses well the color limitation. And the general tone quite hilarious!

Good job also on the atmosphere and the sound design. The mob outside the palace adds real tension to your ordeal as a psychic sovereign and makes you think twice before clicking ! Have you considered making it more progressive? The mob could cry out more the further you made mistakes, potatoes could start flying after a while, and maybe the guards would start to panic?

Concerning the art, did you draw out all the palace visitors or did you randomize the seperate physical aspects?

The whole feels verry French, with the BD-like art and the revolutionary theme. Gives it a verry personal touch.

Bravo! ;)

Developer

Thank you ! The mob actually gets progressively louder as you make mistakes, but we could have gone one step further, it's true :) As for the palace visitors (I'll answer this in place of our game artist), she drew the bodies, the hairs, the facial features, the clothes, the accessories, the hats and the expressions independently, so that we could randomly assign them to the visitors (hence why you see a lot of bearded women).

It works well.. visually  you get a lot of diversity and you never feel like you've seen that visitor before; and in terms of gameplay their is just enough similarity to make you doubt your decision. :)

This game is so beautiful, and yet SO STRESSFUL xD I love it, very original concept and great execution :D

I really like this game, simple concept but it is in line with the theme of mini jam!

Good job!

Developer

Thank you !

Cool simple game, you guys nailed the theme! I couldn't tell if the game got harder though. Did characters walking up get sped up over the days?

Developer(+1)

Thank you ! And yup, the game gets progressively faster until day 30 where the speed is thrice the original. After that, it caps out.

First of all: lovely illustrations! Both for the story and the gameplay, just great looking visually.

The game is very simple, but fun in it's own way - basically memory, but if you don't match correctly you die. It's less of a gaming skill challenge, but personal challenge of attention and memory. A different kind of game, and I really enjoyed it.

Just a great entry!

Developer

Thanks ! It's true, we didn't get into very complex mechanics, we mainly wanted to show off the skills of our game artist while having a simple fun game :)

Really cool entry! The Art is fantastic, I love the style. I love medieval settings, and wasn't expecting to see many because of the Theme, but here we are. The game fits the theme perfectly and is a very unique interpretation of said theme. I believe game jam games gain alot from having a bit of context and this game really nails that in my opinion, the gameplay while simply being "remember the dood" gained alot from having a story about seeing the future.

Great work!

Developer

Thank you ! Yeah we had a feeling we would be one of the few to have a medieval themed game in a jam with "future" as a theme :D

Really fantastically made game. The concept was fun and easy to understand (although I feel bad for our protagonist, do that many people really want to kill him?). The sound and music was perfect for the game, and the art was absolutely brilliant as well. I loved seeing the swarms of people wearing a multitude of various outfits (fashion in this kingdom is quite apparently outlandish). The only point I would add is maybe having more options (either on the outfits, or maybe having multiple killers per day), just so that the gameplay becomes more difficult as the game progresses.  Keep up the good work!

Developer

Thank you ! The life of a king is littered with murder plots sadly... Maybe the odd fashion of the kingdom has something to do with it ?

Simple concept, polished really well. The art style is great, and I can tell a lot of care was put into making the game look and sound great. I have no real critiques; it feels like the game accomplishes exactly what it meant to. Fantastic work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you ! We prioritized the polish rather than the complexity, since my last jam was rather buggy I wanted a change :D

Submitted(+1)

Really good game, unfortunately it looses its magic after a few attempts because its just this one action, other than that there is really nothing I can say about this game that is poor, it just gets repetitive. I wish I could give you more criticism or advice but it's just good for a short bit.

Developer

Thanks ! Yeah, it's true that the gameplay gets repetitive after a while, but we wanted to have a fairly well polished product at the end of the jam rather than add more complexity and bugs.

Submitted

Well you got it then, the game feels like it's had a fair bit of thought and I played it with a friend for a while, they weren't part of the jam but they did love it, especially the sound design.
