Really cool animations.
Thanks!
Extremely well-executed puzzle platformer!
It’s clear this game was carefully crafted for 64x64. The game embraces the restriction, and as a result the low resolution fits the game perfectly. The character’s sprite features very expressive animation packed in so few pixels. The puzzles are bite-sized, which is perfect for getting into the game — but this doesn’t mean that they aren’t challenging, far from it!
Also, wow, there appears to be so many levels to choose from! I haven’t seen all of the game yet, but thank you for adding a save function. I’ll definitely revisit this game after the jam, pick up where I left off, and complete it.
The hub world which ties all the levels together is just next level for a jam game.
You did an amazing job with this entry. Please make a web version after the jam so I can play regardless of the machine I have at hand :)
Thanks, there will be a web version soon
The art, sounds and overall polish is really well done! The level design is incredible and allows for some creative and fun platforming! Tho I think the window for the downward strike could be bigger, it was really though to be able to hit it right. But other than that this game is amazing!
Thanks, we just made attacks the same size for all directions so didn't think about it too much. It could be better that way.
nice platformer games and nice level design also, simple but fun.
good job.
Thanks!!
Wow! Very good idea! Tight controls, hard, but satisfying platforming.
Thanks!
I have little to add, the game is incredible (too hard for me though, I gave up after the first world)! The sounds fit really well. The collectibles and secrets are a cool addition. I haven't seen a game this complete in a game jam. If I could add a thing though, it would be in-game key rebinding and/or support for multiple keyboard layouts.
Thank you, we are working on an update, and game will have proper options menu, rebinding and controller support after that
Wow, this is insanely polished and content rich for a jam game! There's a huge number of levels and they all seem quite well designed. There's a hub world, option collectables, unlockable outfits and everything. The art is very detailed for such a small resolution. The music/sound fx are great too and feel high quality.
The controls feel nice and the mechanic of bouncing off things with the sword is interesting. As others have mentioned though, it could be tweaked to be a little more forgiving e.g. smaller spike hitboxes. I'm not sure if there's an end goal beyond "complete all the levels" but I managed to collect enough items to open all the locked doors.
Overall, an incredibly impressive job! It feel like something I could see on Steam for a few dollars.
Thanks for playing to the end! Right now there isn't a real end goal other than collecting all the coins and unlocking skins. We are already working on an update to the game to hopefully double the content.
Spikes already have smaller hitboxes, we couldn't make them smaller than this because of the resolution and to avoid gaps between the spikes.
Congratulations on making this game !
I've played your game during a live that you can watch here :
The live is timestamped so you can go directly to your game.
I hope the feedback and live reactions will be useful. Keep it up !
Awesome thanks! I'll be sure to check it out.
Your welcome !
Good graphics, not too difficult puzzles. Emphasize the speed of pressing the keys to move. But the movement is not flowing smoothly. Font is hard to read
Thanks, yes for going fast in levels you need to press a lot of keys really fast, but you can still play while going slow and have fun with the game in my opinion. I don't know what you mean by movement not flowing smoothly :/ There wasn't anything we could do about the font so sorry about that. But you can literally play the game without reading anything anyway.
Nice (and tight…) puzzles, a rich animation on a tiny character sprite… wonderful entry. Add to it all the extras and you cook a wonderful game that exceeds your usual jam entry. Congratz!
Thanks!
Very cool game. Lots of fun. Mechanics feel good. The online leader board is awesome to have in a jam game. Multiple worlds and everything is nuts too. Looks like a ton of effort went into it.
Thanks, yes we spent a couple sleepless nights to finish everything :)
WOW this is fleshed out to an insane degree. The last thing i expect from a jam game is multiple worlds, unlockable costumes, and an online leaderboard system with accounts. Graphics are nice and music choice is very tasteful. Great work!
Thank you!
Good job! The core mechanic is very interesting and you made quite a lot of levels. I also found it quite cool that you made a login system work in the 64px resolution, as well as getting that all setup during the limited game jam time. It was quite confusing for me at first to switch the direction after hitting the walls, just takes a bit to get used to it I guess.
Would have been cool to have a web version, it's quite easy to export from Godot (I had to use GLES2, the only problem with that was that nine patch textures aren't supported in that rendering backend, so I used a shader for it instead).
Yeah the mechanics can take a little to get used to, but glad you liked it!
Good idea about the web version. I didn't have the time/energy on release to deal with it and I guess I just forgot about it now, but good to hear it's easy.
Very cool game. Got too hard for me to finish, but really fun up to that point! I'm sorry to say but, I thought the player was a lady with broken legs crawling around lol. Once I noticed it was a person with a sword it looked much better XD
Great job overall!
Haha thanks!
But yeah drawing at this resolution can be hard - someone also said it looked it looked like a soggy cigarette.
Very cool! Clever puzzles, coherent aesthetic and the leader boards are a great touch. I would have played much longer and would play again to give better gameplay feedback - but I am terrible at using the mouse and keyboard for platformer-esque games! Is controller support possible? 🤔
Unfortunately we didn't have time for an options menu sorry, but technically rebinding your controls is possible if you're willing to manually change some values in a config file.
You can find the instructions on the store page.
Controller requires some additional steps though.
On the line XXXXX_0_type="key" change where it says "key" to "joy_button".
The code for controller buttons can be found on the documentation page linked under one of the JOY_XXX values.
For the analogue stick change the type to "joy_axis".
You will also need to add a line XXXXX_0_axis=-1.0 and set the -1.0 to be negative for left/up and positive for right/down.
Here's a sample of the required settings for movement on the left analogue stick, and jump and attack on the A/X buttons: https://pastebin.com/SCVNviaL
Oh yeah time limitations - totally understandable. Great to know it can be done as a workaround though! Will give it a try once I've gotten through some more of the entries 👌
Very well done! The game is hard and contains lots of levels. There are leaderboards. Nice!
This is incredible you've made a full awesome game! ^^ all round great!
I got every coin all the way up to C-8 I can't get back over from this ledge ToT I trial and error it but never figured out when to make the jump across, and when I hit down on the blades I never have the momentum to keep going ,':/
Awesome that you got this far, and thanks I'm glad you're enjoying it.
For this one you down attack the lever, then side attack the wall to get up onto the blades. Then just keep down attacking to pogo on the blades until your get to the left lever. When you're there you should be close enough to reach it and down attack to get up onto the ledge.
Nice game, though I had to give up eventually since I suck hard at platformers. Still though I really liked the single level style platforming puzzles and the amount of content you managed to squeeze onto a 64x64 window is really impressive. Good job!
Hard 2d platformers are not for everyone, glad you enjoyed it anyway :)
Very nice game! Enjoyed it!
love the graphics, music should imho be faster for a platformer. nice game, good platforming mechanics
